  1. I'm just referring to the animation. And the target's hit points. Because we have a combat log, I can look at it and see the damage the rifle has done...and then when I look back at the target, it still hasn't taken the damage - at least, not on my screen. And then it takes the damage. It's just weird. To try and make it more clear: I'll fire the sniper rifle...and the Hitpoints of this destructible...I won't see if it goes down or not for a second after the animation of the rifle being fired. I have also seen my ice blaster send a ice bolt and watch it go around a corner as the npc runs for cover. This is a little different in that while I know the attack has been executed, I don't see the result of the attack until a second or so after the animation. It's kind of like I've fired the rifle from 2 miles away instead of 140 feet. If it was a server issue, or internet speed on my end, I would think I'd have the same issues with all my other powers - but I don't. I get immediate feedback with those. It's just the Sniper Rifle.
  2. This game is incredibly huge with content for a new player. Unfortunately, our tutorial, while it covers some of the basics, there's so much to absorb, it's rather like drinking from a fire hose. With that in mind, understand that you're likely to miss some things along the way. We all do. Even with turning off XP, I don't think there's a way to do EVERYTHING organically. This is why Ouroboros is such a great asset. Each account gets 1000 slots. That's an awful lot of characters, so I think starting over is more than silly. Just keep plugging away, and then when you're done or get bored with this character, then you can try something new. Or you can keep playing the character you're on, and experience the lower level content through Ouro. The stories are the same. The experience that you, as a person behind the avatar gets may be somewhat different, as your character will have more enhancements slotted than a natural level character would. So it will be at least a little bit easier. No big deal. If I'm going to suggest or advise anything - take your time. While this game has a LOT of content, you can get to the point where you've done all of it at least once. But this is probably nothing to worry about as it will take a LONG time. If you play every day, for 15 hours a day, it would probably still take at least 6 months to get through everything.
  3. AR/Martial Combat blaster. So...it could be the power itself, Sniper Rifle working as intended - just not the way I'd expect. I'm seeing a noticeable delay from when I execute the power to seeing whether or not it actually hits the target or not. I like to open with Sniper Rifle because of the extra damage it does when you're not in combat. The interaction goes like this: See target. Position my character, anticipating how the mobs might approach me after I get aggro to make the best use of Flame Thrower & Full Auto. Press the corresponding key on my keyboard. I see the animation for the rifle being fired. I wait literally a second or 2 before I see any feedback on my screen. See, if I miss, I want to use the beanbag. Otherwise, FT & FA. I'm having to monitor the combat log to see if I hit the target, as it tells me before I see it on the screen. It's just this power. The other powers I use give immediate feedback, so I'm wondering if it's just working as intended, or if something else is going on.
  4. This is why I don't take cones with an arc less than 45 degrees. Cones are about positioning; and in this day and age with folks using fold space, it can either be super easy if you time it right, or absolutely useless if you don't. Please don't get me started on my trigger word "blap" and all it's forms.
  5. Does such a place exist?!? Details please.
  6. I'm kind of the opposite. Thus far, I've only taken Combat Teleport on one character - a dark/Mental blaster. I thought CT would be useful for zipping in for Drain psyche. It is - but it's also easier to just zip in with super speed, or even sprint, or neither. That is, I'm more used to doing it like that. I like the toHit buff, but it's not like I really need it with Focused Accuracy and a kismet 6% IO. I mean, does it really make sense to learn/relearn to do things differently when the other way works just fine? Still, having the option on Martial Combat without needing to take the tp pool is a nice option to have. It will let me play around with it without taking a power pool. Maybe the mechanic of using the keybind will catch on for my feeble fingers.
  7. The Garage Band A fantastic name for an SG filled with Sonic powerset characters.
  8. That will be the next combo I tried, as it seems to be a nifty way to use not just inferno but FSC as well. Kind of like jousting, just different keys - only a damage buff comes with it.
  9. So...I guess my obtuse nature didn't even notice this was a thing until yesterday. So, I made one. AR/Martial Combat. This is such a different kind of thing compared to the same old type of secondary with the toggle sustain powers. I don't know if I like it yet - but I do appreciate the different option. I see so many players wanting mez protection...and I have no recollection of anyone mentioning Inner Will. True, it's only good for 30 seconds, and the base recharge is 3 minutes. So, without external support, it's never going to be perma - and typically, with external support, you wouldn't need it to be perma. Still, this is an amazing thing for blasters with this secondary. Still need to carry a break free to be safe, but it beats a poke in the eye. The build in Combat Teleport is also interesting. It's called Burst of Speed. (it buffs damage, however, instead of ToHit) I almost screwed up and took it as a substitute travel power, given its 200 foot range. But alas, the fine print said I could only use it 3x before it would need to recharge. Still, a nice option to have. I don't yet see the utility, but I'll try to find it if I can train my fingers to work properly. This is exciting for me - as it's new to me. I'm sure some have played these a dozen times before. I honestly don't know how I missed it. Or maybe my memory is fading. Either way, time to explore this powerset.
  10. lol, I look forward to the results of the investigation! So, as to names floating in limbo, you're probably correct. Generally, when I come up with a name I want to use and discover someone else is using it, if I don't recognize the global name, I send them a tell and ask them to reply that they're still using it. I've yet to hear back from anyone, except one other player. This is probably about 1 out of 30 or so. I probably should have kept track, but I didn't. So, take it with a large grain of salt. Could be they never played again, or it could be they never saw the tell, or it could be they got distracted and forgot. No way to know.
  11. So, as someone who's played by similar rules - "If you get defeated, you get deleted" - let me share some additional perspective. It can be tough to delete a character, particularly if you're enjoying it. The good news is - you were on gold side. That means you were below level 20, and you can catch up in a day, if you're focused. Faster than that if you're on Indomitable. There's all kinds of ways to rationalize away the delete option. Ultimately - we can't tell you what to do. But I can share my advice: Follow the rule and delete your character. And the reason why is because the rationalization can be a slippery slope. The defeat wasn't your fault, your teammate is the one that did the splash aggro and brought in the extra group. Or maybe they were too damned slow and cautious, and if anything was going to get done, you had to be the one to do it. There's all kinds of "reasons" to justify our decisions if we look long enough. Again, just delete it and start over. Learn what you can, and drive on.
  12. That dude that was overpowered was spam? I thought he was just the stoned Sentinel that ruined Snarky's MoMarketCrash.
  13. It's really an Arachnos Pylon in Atlas...or a new kind of extended cab for a semi.
  14. The Pre-emptive Kick. I've seen it done. This is why I've never led a Master TF. I don't have the reflexes to kick someone at the right time. The best part about these types of threads is it shows me there are people who are not as skilled as me. This over-inflates my ego, which sorely needs it, given how bad I play sometimes. Like when I'm trying to mash f5 for the break free and hit F6 instead and am screaming "Run!". So sad to have clumsy fingers.
  15. I can't believe I didn't say this in the first place. If you want Special Characters - consider recruiting @Snarky. He's a very special character.
  16. I could share my story about an incidental over-use of some edibles, but I'll just say I'm sorry you had an idiot Sentinel ruin your badge effort. The idiot Sentinel who lectured you about rage quitting might have been someone old school like me who was always told that quitting a TF is a faux pas. Nowadays, people will quit a tf just as fast as they'll leave an MSR or a radio team. I don't agree with it - but if it's a master run, and it's clear you weren't going to get master, then I get why you quit. I would proceed for the merits and the purple (well - you probably already got the purple on that character) but you're now a busy vampire. Time is more valuable for you than for people who are stoned.
  17. I will actually give this a try. Looks very nice!
  18. I don't know if I find those maps too dark - but there is definitely something off about them on my side. I have a tough time telling what's floor, and what's air. When you get to the end of a hallway, often there's a recessed bit of floor, a small bowl if you will, and I can never tell it's like that until I drop to the floor.
  19. If you know this with certainty to be true. Let's publicly shame them. It'll be fun! And I am kind of kidding. We all have 1000 slots and supposedly can make as many accounts as we want, as long as we don't have more than three on a single shard at a time when population count is below 1500 on that shard. (to be clear: Excelsior is a server. Everlasting is a server, etc. We got used to thinking like this, because I think on retail, each shard was on its own server. Or maybe some of us were always using the wrong term. No idea. But in this context, server = shard) While we can shame someone who hoards names, where do we draw that line? I also have 2 names that I've placed on a level 1 waiting for the right time to begin playing them. Just 2. Not thousands. But if they have to lose all theirs, I'd lose my two. And while life would go on, it would be one silly name I'd not get to play and that would be unfortunate for me. And, well, publicly shaming is probably not that far removed from bullying and should not be done. I'm sure if we think about it carefully, we can find a better solution - and for now, the solution is set the name policy up, just not enforce it yet. Maybe we come up with something more clever later. I do understand the disappointment of creating a kitten character, and then choosing the powersets, and actually trying to kittenize the character in the costume creator, only to realize that Chairman Meow has already been taken! And I had a lot of propaganda fun little quotes to use, already lined up! Probably for the best I can't have it. I'm a strong believer in the market, and I'm not sure I would be able to stomach Chairman Meow and his propaganda for long.
  20. For me, the most amusing part was the dude went out and bought pineapples to literally make a shield to test it. That's a lot of pizza toppings, if that's how you roll.
  21. I almost put this in suggestions/feedback, but since it's a joke, I'll put it here. I know this has something to do with pineapple on pizza, but not sure what.
  22. Heh, that reminds me of a time on Retail when I made a tank called Tat. In the description/bio area, I wrote, "Tit for Tat." I got more blind invites for Tat than any other character. I always assumed it was because the name was short, and easy to type out. Unlike some of my polysyllabic names that are not only hard to pronounce, but hard to spell properly.
  23. I certainly wouldn't know with any measure of certainty, but I see all kinds of characters used in chat that aren't part of our 26 letter alphabet. I've seen hearts, even. If we can get a heart, surely we have one of those umlauts somewhere. But maybe the text field for the names in the character creators have a different set of rules? No idea. @Laucianna is often using symbols/characters that aren't in the English alphabet - they may know a trick.
  24. You're overthinking it. I've seen level 11's recruit for an MSR. I've seen one player take the opposite approach with some odd trailer to his recruitment message, something like "your monster uber super ultra 50 welcome" You could recruit as you normally do with the trailer "level XX and under please." No explanations are needed. There may be one or two that might be curious enough to ask, and then you can elaborate if you wish. But I doubt it.
