  1. I kind of wonder if, looking at some the power choices made/not made, some people got X/Y combo to 50, skipping powers that perhaps 'make the set' but the player was unaware, and then just dropped the character because it did not perform well... So much data, so little time...
  2. Good to hear! Live Well!
  3. So wanting people in general to stop trying to force other players into obeying rules that do not exist, wanting players to not piss on the creative output of others, wanting people to stop living in fear of lawyers, all this is now the same as wanting everyone to stop talking about the subject of Copyright and Trademark and policing fellow players over it at all? Really? Pax, you really, really seem want to bait me into saying something that will get me silenced, I am well aware of this fact. Won't work. Much Love to You, @PaxArcana, Be Well, Enjoy Life.
  4. Building teams in CoH IMO is simply gathering the number of people with which you want to play. It doesn't really matter what ATs are used. I basically tank on all characters, I will happily go first, Indie!
  5. Several people in this thread alone, obviously... so why bother trying to make other people stop talking about something in which you have no interest? Do we offend you in some way so much by simply discussing a topic that you seem to have used your first post just to tell us all to 'shut up'? The Internet is a strange and wonderful thing.
  6. Unsure TBH. Try and just turn it off is it kills FPS too much / tweak...
  7. I did not read the words in this way, but I see your point. The OP did not really clarify from my PoV, but 'doubled down'. Since this is a sensitive topic to me, I can easily have misinterpreted. Even if someone says something I agree with however, I do not condone the whole "I think I speak for X when ..." if the speaker has not, in fact, been given that power. Just a pet peeve along with the FUD and the telling other players how to play, I guess.
  8. A moral argument now? I am here playing on the rogue servers like everyone else. My moral outlook is no more valid than anyone else's, I have not said any differently that I can recall here and I was wrong if I did. I have claimed no moral high ground, Pax, you just seem dead set on attacking me, rather than just discussing the topics (and I still do not understand why beyond we do not agree). I have opinions that I am passionate about and ready to share with all the confidence and evidence I can muster. Somehow, simply because I won't back down, or that you mistake me for someone else, or that I use terms you don't like, you seem to think that makes me Evil, Pax, and it's just weird, IMO. The discussion is about the right to control the making of copies. Totally. The IP holders have the right to tell the infringers to stop. The infringers, by the laws and restrictions of their society, have obligations to both not copy IP without regard to these rules and to cease when told that have broken the rules. Where have I said these rules, as laid out, should not be followed? Some of the things I have seen posted try and make me someone that hates Copyright and Trademark which is wholly untrue. Not a fan of software patents, but that is a different topic. Others players have rolled in and started demanding players follow rules that do not exist and attempted to use misinformation and instill FUD to do so. Both of these things happened to stuff that really passionately disagree with, I am allowed to opine, so I do. Some here agree with me on this topic, some disagree. Some that agree, we really disagree elsewhere, and visa-versa, this is the nature of an Internet Forum.
  9. @Abraxus, I think your spider senses arachnoid perceptions are tingling sensing a disturbace in the force on the money.
  10. I am really curious as to how a build in the game is detrimental to the game. From my PoV, it's like saying knowing what powers to take/use for a situation is bad for the game. I guess I missed a memo. I mean, this is like saying the fact I prefer to play tanks against mez-heavy enemies over blasters makes playing tanks detrimental to the game, IMO. So ...
  11. So, it seems the HC team is successful! They have deployed an MMO, made a change that now pits forum warriors against each other, and continue to look at the situation...to be dealt with soon(tm). Sounds like a Live MMO to me...
  12. Leaving us with a law based precedent that HC is fully prepared to follow, based on GM comments, as opposed to something with which to beat other players over the head with in an effort to make them conform to the creative tenants of other players. I think a real Hero that should be added to the game somplace is the CoH side lawyer who caught out Marvels council...
  13. Have you tried adjusting the settings, or did you just enable and then disable? The default, as well as the screenshot above, are not anywhere near what my game looks like after turning everything down to 0-5% in the cell settings. I have hated cell-shading in pretty much all games, actually, even Borderlands I can only play so much, but the cell shading here with minimal settings really has improved my game...I was a complete naysayer until I realized you could alter the look.
  14. IIRC in Dune, our young protagonist is told not to ever make a decision for his people unless he wants to always make that choice, because once he makes it, his people will always look to him instead of thinking for themsleves about the specific topic. I can only imagine as things move forward that HC will want to create as few rules as possible, for all kinds of very good reasons.
  15. Boom. Just line pen and paper.
  16. Give Cell Shading a 'proper chance' - do not just turn it on and say yuck and turn it off - IMO, the default is ugly, but turning the options way down and tweaking gives the textures a face-lift. For some, I know, it makes the characters look a little plastic and shiny which they do not like, but I find that to only be really invasive in the Tailor, not in the game world. It is not perfect, but IMO it really does give the game a leg up graphics-wise.
  17. With the Freedom Force skin thing, as discussed, the IP holder went after someone actively making money off thier IP. Not a third party, the infringer. Now, if we take that to a CoH level, that means someone has to be streaming as an IP character or something and makng a profit because of the infringement, with the intent to do so. Even then, NCSoft is not part of the equation, nor is HC, the infringer making money gets the C&D. If we go with the idea that a third party could sue NCSoft to screw HC, would we not have to, in turn, outlaw pen and paper? I mean, if I can draw Supes (which I cannot, my artistic skills suck) well enough other people want to pay me and I do that and take the money, could the IP holder not sue the makers of the pen and paper for allowing the tools creation of the Supes images? It is an absurd idea, IMO. At this point, based on the words people have posted, IMO, this whole thing boils down a group of players that do not like clones/cosplay/homages in some way and simply want to boss the rest of us around, using fear and misinformation to achieve thier goals. Some of them have openly admitted such, IMO. I really see no other way to view this, based on the presented data, personally, beyond a few players that just want to bully the rest of us.
  18. I agree with this. Carefully adjusting the cell shading has really made the game shine for me.
  19. HA! Not so quickly, really...
  20. Not a third party.
  21. The basis for creating the theory comes from FUD...the fear of losing the game, the uncertainty of it's longevity, and the deep doubt and mistrust some players have for NCSoft and IP holders. The theory itself holds little water. A legal precedent that backs up the theory would be a good start, I have not been able to find one. Where has a company sued another company for a third party using their IP in similar situation, not-for-profit group propping up a defunct service, that allows creative expression? As others have said, this would open the door for so many lawsuits against Microsoft alone, all of the lawyers would have all the money. You don't think the hackers with farms of PCs pay for the licences do you? This is why I think the basic theory is so outlandish. None of the lawyers I know that I have asked would touch it. There is no legal lever by which a third party can force NCSoft to take action against the HC team, much less the consumers using the 'defunct' service. If there is, I would love for someone to present it. Even frivolous lawsuits try to have some basis in legal precedent or law. Show me. Show me an example precedent where this has occurred. Beyond that, it is just an outlandish idea, based from a position of fear and uncertainty, created to sow doubt among the players to in turn get them to Obey a directive that does not exist.
  22. Easily? How exactly is NCSoft in any way vulnerable in this situation, to an outside force, to shut down rogue CoH servers? Do tell!
  23. What do expect from a group of voluteers? Seriously. They are just fellow volunteer gamers, trying to make things work, not a full QA-backed, AGILE-following, development house. So, frankly, you should perhaps take a breath, maybe get some fresh air. It's a game run by volunteers who did not, in fact, make changes just to piss you off.
  24. While there always seems to be a chorus on the forums wanting harder content, I agree what I see actually occuring in-game is pretty much always the fastest, easiet way to get rewards... Same with pretty much all MMO forums IME...
  25. Thanks for the answer...
