great name to go with a great design. Is that a new acquisition with the name release stuff or something you've been sitting on and decided to put to use because of the name release stuff?
-
True, there are pushing you to one side or the other but going across to the hero side as a Vigilante works because you're picking the good side but still have some of that willing to bad stuff when needed attitude. If you chose to commit to full on Hero alignment, then that could be a choice to make after getting settled. Would make more sense just like you can't go from Villain straight to Hero with the alignment missions; you have to work through it from Villain to Rogue and then to Hero.
-
When you exit Praetoria, you have to choose the hero or villain alignment as you move over to the less morally ambiguous reality and it had me wondering, is that really the best choice? Wouldn't a switch to Rogue or Vigilante be a smoother transition, and from there if you want to be wholeheartedly red or blue, then you go through the tip missions and switch alignment normally or visit Nul the Gull in Pocket D? The Rogue/Vigilante options kind of fit the mentality of "back home." Instead, when you leave the morally ambiguous world, you have to go straight into all hero or all villain and then switch out again if you want to play both sides. Alternatively, maybe all 4 choices Hero/Vigilante/Rogue/Villain should be offered when making your exit. You put more work in playing through on gold side to get to 20 than you do to get to the alignment mission as a hero or villain. I considered posting this in the Suggestions section, but it's less a suggestion and more just generally asking the general opinion on the whole thing.

Good luck holding on to it. That's a DC LoSH name.

Holy Name-Release, Batman!!! 😱
TheMoneyMaker replied to Captain Fabulous's topic in General Discussion
However in the time since I originally posted that, now I was able to rename successfully. Maybe there was a delay happening. -

I tried that also. Deleted character, then tried to rename character. No joy. -
Holy Name-Release, Batman!!! 😱
TheMoneyMaker replied to Captain Fabulous's topic in General Discussion
So, I checked the name availability in the character creator.....name is available. I don't want to start a new toon, I just want to rename an existing one so I back out and attempt to rename. Doing so, it tells me the name is not available. I think maybe it's because I reserved it by checking the name, so I plug a few others in to clear the way then go back to rename my toon. Still being used by another character. I wondered if maybe someone beat me to the punch, so I head back into the character creator and try the name again. Available. So apparently the name release thing only works for starting a new toon under the name you are creating. Kind of disappointing. -
Also got Mr. Mister E

Make the Sentinels' powers different.
TheMoneyMaker replied to captainstar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Besides, the thing that really sets sentinel powers apart from blasters visually is their secondary sets. Blasters are a bit scrappier with melee attacks and other effects, while sentinels are more survivable with their damage mitigation secondaries. Oh no, I just discovered a problem. If the devs were to add something to make the blast powers visually distinctive for sentinels, then shouldn't they do the same for their armor sets to set them apart from the melee ATs? as with before: no, the should not. everyone gets the same option and suggesting otherwise is asking for preferential treatment. why would they take the time to introduce new effects that only apply to one AT when they can spend the same amount of time to give the same effects to four different ATs? -
Revisiting Prestige, SG and personal levels
TheMoneyMaker replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
How do we make (the thing) useful, but also there should be no incentive for doing it. Sorry, but impossible. There simply must be some benefit for prestige to be made useful. Awarding it just because is pointless and I think most of us would rather devs' time be spent on more productive thing. And anything that can be beneficial will be exploited somehow. Looking at past stuff that's still around: Giant monsters - farmed for reward merits Auction house - has been exploited for profit Architect Entertainment - exploited for experience or profit New currency with prismatic aethers? even though its a cosmetic benefit only, those things can be sold for a few million because people want those pricy tier 3 and 4 cosmetic only goodies, so Halloween time people are ToT farming for elite boss badges If there's no reward, there's no reason to have it. If there's a reason to have it, then someone will find a way to exploit it even if it doesn't have a useful purpose. I'm not arguing for or against making prestige useful, just saying pick a lane because you can't have it both ways -
The check name command is already in game. It's /friend <name> If it's in use, it will add that name to your friends list. After which you can simply /unfriend <name> to remove it. If the name is not in use, it will tell you that there is no such character and you can quickly log out and claim it. This won't work with names that are in use but may be available due to the name release function, but you can't have everything.

Make the Sentinels' powers different.
TheMoneyMaker replied to captainstar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Sentinel blast attacks are already different. They're a little weaker than blaster versions and have a shorter range. There may be more to it than that, but ultimately their blast powers look like blaster versions because they are still essentially the same attacks. Why would a sentinel fireball look different from a blaster fireball when neither a corruptor's nor defender's fireball look any different either? Luminara has the right idea with power customization. -
Just be a sociopath and get over it.

I was thinking, because I hate having to use the temp power costumes for things like getting the full benefit out of the haunted house or, I think also you need to be wearing a costume while knocking on doors to get the Halloween tip mission to drop... What about a temp power "costume" that says "It's YOUR costume!" and you are effectively dressed up as yourself while the temp is activated. It doesn't change your appearance at all, it has no effect whatsoever beyond counting as wearing a Halloween costume while still maintaining the player's own unique look. Comic books have had a number of occasions over the years where the hero's secret identity ended up going to a costume party dressed as their heroic identity, so there is a comics precedent for it. And it would be one more random drop in a bunch of costumes already, so it's not likely to be abuseable in any way, and it's not something that would be specifically required for anything else, so no one would be forced to use it or feel like they're missing out if they don't get it.

Prismatic Aether: Items and Prices
TheMoneyMaker replied to DarionLeonidas's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
They're not supposed to be cheap because it's a goal thing to work for, but as cosmetic enhancements only, it's entirely unneeded to compete on the same footing as everyone else. -
Prismatic Aether: Items and Prices
TheMoneyMaker replied to DarionLeonidas's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't know about too easy, but in addition to the ToT, and the bonus rewards for hard mode TF content, there's also a slim chance of picking up one as a reward for regular missions, and you can also pick up the Monstrous Aether particles from fighting Giant Monsters and you can convert those to regular prismatics on a 3 for 1 ratio. -
It's not the same as finding a free-roaming giant monster in the wild.

Prismatic Aether: Items and Prices
TheMoneyMaker replied to DarionLeonidas's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
There's an easy way to get prismatics. Comes once a year and lasts for a whole month. 10 per character that you haven't already done it with. Go. Knock. ToT. -
Begone has made Adamastor fun again. Too bad he's relegated to an Echo zone.

I'm watching you, mister

If I recall, there's underwater swimming possible in the game in one of the Cimerora maps. It was never implemented elsewhere because of "reasons" though I would imagine it has to do with reworking entire outdoor maps with water, which would then require additional reworking of how water based critters like Lusca and Sally spawn, and also there's the idea of how powers like fire would function underwater and other junk and possibly something about breathing. Rather than rework a lot of that stuff, the original devs just decided there wasn't enough to merit the development and the pointed out if you want to go for an underwater swim, visit that particular map. Anyway, my point is, I don't see why any this would be a problem in base maps which don't really affect gameplay at large, so I'll give the OP a thumbs up on this request.
