Invasion events aren't the story. They're something that happens that players can choose to take part in or not. Spider-man doesn't run headlong into every Kree, Skrull, or other alien invasion because the Fantastic Four or Avengers are better equipped to deal with it. He might have to hit a few aliens on his way to deal with another problem or might be too busy. So if you choose not to participate and the invasion went away, you can assume other heroes got involved and repelled it or that some behind the scenes story that isn't for you occurred.....maybe the aliens achieved a goal and backed off, maybe they realized their current efforts were futile. Doesn't matter. All that matters is did you choose to be on the ground to meet them or not. Why are the aliens attacking? Takeover attempt? Raiding for resources? Something else? It doesn't matter in the heat of the moment of the invasion. You want story purpose for aliens, visit the Vanguard outpost and do missions. Zombie invasions aren't about a central figure guiding them. It's rampant undead on the loose. Why? Chemical spill reanimating the dead? Some ancient deity giving life to them? Alternate reality where everyone is undead briefly overlapping the main reality? None of it matters. Make up whatever head canon you want for your character's involvement or lack thereof.

This one was on Torch. I made a similar character on Excel with Organic Armor boots, gloves, & shoulders plus Ascension belt & face detail 1 psi/fire stalker: Astral Flame

Zombies don't need a purpose. They're there to eat brains and attack anything that gets in their way. Rikti purpose is to weaken Earth defenses, thus they drop bombs in addition to troops. Nemesis invasion seems to have the least amount of purpose, like "I'm attacking because I can, mua-ha-ha-haaah!!" The proposed snowman invasion's purpose is purely retaliatory. Lord Winter's realm was attacked (successful completion of trial), so he sends snowmen to the realm where the attack originated from.

Temporal Armor: available to all melee ATs, it's a combination of defense and enemy damage debuff with some healing and a slow aura toggle. Using the power to manipulate time, you avoid attacks and take away the momentum of your opponents' attacks. Healing can be looked at as either speeding up your metabolism or pulling some health from your past or future selves with temporal shenanigans. What sets the set apart is that it lacks resistance, relying on debuffing the enemies instead. This would make it beneficial for teams but if you limit it to those in melee range, it gives the set a hole against ranged attacks dealing full dmg. Medium: a psionic support set for defenders, corruptors, controllers, and masterminds. No healing, but you can buff your allies with strong Absorb buffs, as well as offering a mix of other ally buffs and team debuffs focused on -Rech and -Resist.....perhaps a possession effect in place of a foe removal effect like Force Field -> Detention Field, Sonic Resonance -> Sonic Cage, or Dark Miasma -> Petrifying Gaze. Add in a rez power that's basically pulling the user summoning the deceased's spirit back into their body.

Yes, disabling rewards would solve the first problem People can already do the second thing in chat with global hide features. Not knowing where someone is doesn't make harassment easier; you can still report them like anyone else.

Fear Based Powersets & IO Sets Suggestions.
TheMoneyMaker replied to Canadian Anvil's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Fear sounds like it should make for cooler power sets, but the whole fear mechanic is weak with regard to enemies being able to attack if attacked. Might as well just take a powerset that can put them in a hold. -
As a suggestion, I'll offer Deep Freeze, know that someone will find fault with it. And I say these are all just suggestions to get developer minds thinking about the idea. Ultimately, they get to decide everything, so I'll leave the suggestions and maybe they'll use them or be inspired with better ideas than my own.

And yet, we never see snow in any zone other than Atlas Park because Atlas Park is the zone that was made to have snow on the ground. I think you're so intent on looking for ways to shoot down ideas that you just over-analyze every little bit of phrasing and trying to assign extra meaning to it.

You can read into it how you like but my point of saying a melt was to explain why there would be snow in the air but none on the ground.

Price of Super pack : Lords of winter
TheMoneyMaker replied to Snakyta's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Right, the superior versions don't drop. But maybe make those the reward. Sure you can get there with catalysts, but that doesn't preclude them from being offered as a possible reward for something else. -

Only the standard versions, not the superior versions. -
It is not the same thing. mez protection toggles are providing protection when they're on and that protection is at the ready for when a mez attack comes in. Travel powers toggled on get suppressed not because of attack secondary effects such as being slowed, but just by the virtue of attacking or being attacked. You get reduced benefit from the power in speed being slowed down but the endurance cost doesn't change. I've seen you argue stuff before; you argue stuff just to argue so I'm not going to keep trying to convince you. Agree to disagree.
-
Nonsense. It's a photo of me leaving the gym.
-
Fair. Slowing down speed but adding defense means the power is still doing something that justifies the endurance cost. If there's no benefit, then there's no justification for the endurance cost and suggesting that it's incumbent on the players to turn off a suppressed toggle just because the game is about ebdurance management seems like a silly argument.
-
That's a flawed comparison. Mez protection is working while the toggles are running whether you're being attacked or not. The benefit isn't suppressed, even when you are mezzed it still determines how quick you come out of it. Travel powers have reduced effectiveness if you attack or are attacked because the original devs tried to limit jousting in pvp. I get combat being able to trip you up or slow you down, but that's what attacks with slow, knockdown, immobilize, and hold are for. If you happen to run through a mob's perception and attack range and they attack you, then you benefit of the full speed of your power briefly, so yes you could be trying to cross distances while "fighting" because there's no distinction between attacking or being attacked. If I choose to turn off my travel power to conserve endurance then I should lose the benefit of the power, but if I have my power suppressed against my will I shouldn't have to turn off the power to save endurance. I'll go either way, suppress the power and the endurance or don't suppress either. But I'm against suppression of both because it was a pvp channge that crept into pve.

The City Council used to legislate things like what level heroes had to be to get into hazard zone and when they could get a cape. It's good to see the current government being more proactive.
-
You would still get standard Winter Lord appearances with opening presents, but that would be a spawn where the GM and surrounding mobs stand there and wait to be attacked. In addition, the triggered snowman invasion would have the snowman mobs popping up all around players and Lord Winter shows up after/if a certain amount of mobs are defeated. As for the trigger, maybe have it trigger in a random zone as described above upon every completion of the Lord Winter trial, but also an additional time once per hour in a random zone. Don't want to overwhelm people with snowmen invasions all over the place constantly.

Holiday Cheer and Duplicating Gifts.
TheMoneyMaker replied to Darmian's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Have it be a low magnitude Confusion effect.....easily sways minions and lieutenants, but you might need to already have a confuse on a boss and stacking the gift on top of that helps push them over the edge.- 1 reply

"Suggested" Obviously something else should replace the already taken suggestion.
