Hang on a minute - why was it being kept secret? Why the need for NDAs and all the secrecy about it? Did the people running it have permission from the owner of the IP? Was the code purchased or given to them with permission? Uhm, what? You do know the code wasn't taken with permission, right? I get why they kept it secret and can't blame anyone for doing it. But let's be honest here, you're arguing that stolen property is under less of a threat from the rightful owner of it than Disney?

Exactly. A few people here literally lost their shit over people making cosplays in the game because they thought it was tacky and cried and whined about it. Disney won't give a hoot about this server. To be clear, I totally respect that the people running this server have rules and want to do what they think is right. I've no problem with their COC. i just think we all have a greater chance of getting struck by a random meteor than Disney slapping a lawsuit on anyone.

Even Disney doesn't care. There is fan art all over the web. Cosplayers are all over the world posting pics of themselves on social media. They go after people like artists on Deviantart taking commissions for their stuff and people selling skins for games.

Yea I can cite all kinds of laws and press releases from a long time ago too. Times have changed. This is more about the people who stole the code covering themselves more than looking out for NCSoft. No court is going to hold NCSoft accountable for something someone else did with property they stole from them.

There is risk in everything you do. some are more likely than others. what's more likely here? the owner of the IP pulling the plug on a pirate server running property stolen from them? or Disney sending a C&D? again, I completely accept the rules here and have no problem with following them. of course people who want to make direct copies shouldn't do it. I'm just questioning the thinking that Disney shutting the game down is a risk to be concerned about. They haven't done it for decades for games way more popular than this one.
