  1. Why is this always you all’s response? They’re right, softcap is a noob trap, with multiple reasons being given in this very thread as to why. I have never played a fromsoft title, yet have watched them be played by family and other YTbers, yet I too have been met with this very response when talking about mechanics in the game being added, for example. This community has an annoying and serious problem with toxic elitism in the opposite direction, enforced hyper casualness. Also lmao you all think Fromsoft is the only challenging game when I literally played a Soulslike harder than most of its’ titles(Fromsoft fans have said this themselves. The soulslike is First Beserker Khazan)?and a turn based JRPG that has parrying windows so tight you go to First Beserker Khazan for easy gameplay as the alternative. (Expedition 33.) Point being, expand your gaming horizons and come up with new insults if you’re going to lobby them, for one, and for two, quit with the toxic elitism in the opposite direction.
  2. Barrier is what people use. For 4 star you stock up immortal recovery. Insp was for general content, but thats on me for not specifying
  3. A PSA for def chasers: Learn what inspirations are. There is a tutorial but it's completely optional, which is a disservice. It should be expanded and mandatory imo. The best players in the game don't build for def on non def based sets like SR for a reason. That very obvious reason is no DDR. DDR matters far more than your 45% def, as with none, you fold to any debuff, which there will be plenty at endgame and a good deal even before. Learn how to use inspirations and build a damage AT to deal damage, a simple yet seemingly controversial statement to make apparently. The perfect AT to do this for is dominators. They get, imo, the greatest use out of insp given their all offense nature, next obviously is blasters. I can guarantee you my proc bombed blaster will solo clear and team clear exponentially faster than your 45% def build while also chewing insp and maintaining the same level of survival, also with barrier being cycled in. It is not a crutch to use the tools the game gives you. As soon as P2 drops and mids updates, I will share my closed beta build for an AT that is getting a new set that clears +4×8 impressively fast making use of procs, barrier, and of course, insp. These are the builds you see blitzing the only content worth a slight damn difficulty wise(4 star). Proc builds with barrier and/or insp.
  4. Alright so to actually answer the question, the only endgame content in CoH that I would consider really making a toon for, which seems to be what you're asking here OP, is 4 star content. In that case, I'd recommend cold/ice defender or corruptor for support and as far as tank goes? Im gonna go against the grain and recommend Stone Armor. There's potentially something in p2 coming out...eventually, that I would recommend, depending on if it makes it in. But for now, Stone/BA or Stone/EM for tank. Stone gives great def and res, while offering granite for oh shit moments. 4 star, compared to WoW, does not have any mechanics of any real difficulty so dont worry about that. It's pretty mind numbingly easy, especially compared to M+
  5. Add real mechanics difficulty based walls to the game. No more Feels Good to Me™️ builds being argued as viable for endgame or high end content. Skipping critical powers in a set would mean you couldn’t complete this content. Healing Aura spam empathy defenders would disappear overnight. It’d be a harsh but golden age of builds.
  6. I dont have a least value, but I just want to bring to the spotlight two great games: Expedition 33: This game might be the first ever perfect game made. It's a once in a generation game, and...look just play it. You'll understand when you do First Beserker Khazan: An 8/10 Soulslike on the combat alone. Story's alright, nothing crazy great. It's set in the Dungeon Fighter Online universe if any of you here are fans of that, so I mean there IS an overaching connected narrative with some I assume significant lore characters? Hardest Soulslike(and harder than the entire Dark Souls series apparently) out today, tied with the likes of Sekiro and Bloodborne with combat very similar to a Nioh/Sekiro blend.
  7. I used to enjoy being support in this game because emp back in the Virtue days was a best in slot pick. I remember yellow and green line trains, good times... Doing the MLTF(Back then known as STF as states was still kicking) as an emp and buffing my brother with CM who was the stone tank. Good stuff. But a lot of(okay all of) the difficulty was simply knowledge and resource based, looking back on it now. With all the resources and knowledge we have now, the true difficulty of CoH is on full display. A difficulty i actually like!
  8. OP Your best bet if you want a solid build is to use Icesphere's build or even better, play around yourself in mids. It's the only surefire way to learn. I personally make my own builds, they lean meta heavy so proc builds that basically shit out damage, but baven't done so on a sent as I kinda just don't feel like making another sent tbh. If you make a build though I'll be sure to look at it if you want! (When I get the chance) Also, take your melee epics. Sents do better damage than before the buff but you still need your melee epics as that is still most of your damage. If you see a build without one, or chasing def on a res based set, it is a huge red flag and DO NOT USE THAT BUILD or take their advice. RUN! Res armors have no DDR(defense debuff res) so first grade logic will tell you defense on those sets will get shredded by any enemy who debuffs defense.
  9. Yep, I’m aware. Even still, I didn’t care about merits as they weren’t at the amount of tips necessary for a morality mish. Just extremely bored while oblivion downloaded.
  10. Funny this topic came up. While I was downloading the Oblivion remaster, I decided to pop over to CoH on my cold/ice. I joined a redside tip team, which was alright. I only got a few notches on my vill side alignment meter, no merits. Got a vet level though which was ok I guess. Point being, while I'm definitely not against merits for collaborative completion of arcs, sometimes I personally team if I'm well and truly bored while waiting for other games to download on my consoles. Teaming has its' incentive; Pass time and not be horribly bored while doing so(probably. Some content in this game is just straight up boring)
  11. Oh uh....definitely not. But it's....somewhere along the time table I think
  12. That lie is the flat earther theory of CoH. Use your eyes people. Look at the threat modifier of a MM vs a Brute and the answer should be clear who was always meant to be the tank. I think the T3 henchie only has a threat level of maybe 3? MM cant hold aggro reliably and pets die to a fart. How exactly was that gonna tank the likes of the freedom phalanx in LRSF back in the day? Also common sense moment. Brutes had Taunt. I…how do people see this then create the lie about MMs being tanks? None who believe this objective lie can even link a dev saying it.
  13. Yes, all the time. I just don’t type it in team chat.
  14. I have a strong belief it is real. And I probably will buy it, but man do I have a lotta games to get through this year and also to buy lol. Still gotta get ahold of First Beserker Khazan
  15. Hey folks! Since we have other threads similar to this in the form of Son of Jukebox and what have you, I figured why not make one for vidya games! Similar concept. What games are you playing currently? What games have you beat? What are you looking forward to? Lemme know below! I’ll start. Just finished South of Midnight which had phenomenal art and music and a pretty decent story. Currently looking forward to Wuchang fallen feather, Expedition 33, Another Crab’s Treasure NG+, Ninja Gaiden 4 and Doom the Dark Ages. And possibly that Oblivion remake.
  16. I hope it’ll be on gamepass, seeing as its a first party title
  17. I have it. My cold/ice proc bomb build. Great damage and very fun. Cost me 788 or so mil to make though
  18. I never interacted with those other MMOs RP communities, but did play WoW for a time a long while back during the shutdown. All I'll say is give it a few months, you'll see what everyone is talking about when they say PD is basically goldshire or whatever its called in WoW. Maybe worse. I personally experienced creeps trying to ERP with me because I was passing through PD on my female troller. Not even RPing, passing through. This community is not even close to better than any other MMO. They just obnoxiously think they are, which makes them considerably worse.
  19. I think there's failure to look at the big picture here and/or putting all your eggs in one basket going on. The CoH servers, all of them will die off. When? Can't say as im not sure. But they most assuredly will. There isn't even a guarantee there'll be more, or at least more of substance. Successors, while on the surface look like they'd be superflous now, actually could very well be crucial down the line.

  21. My mindset with CoH, since that's the game played here, is to balance it like MH Wilds. Now you may be thinking: "They're very different games!"(if folks even know what MH wilds is). And you'd be right. When I say balance like wilds, I mean don't focus entirely on numbers, overcome biases against certain sets, and anchor your changes in relation to the gameplay loop, while also seeking to cultivate an engaging and satisfying loop. CoH does not currently do this. They balance by...well I'm not sure but there's for sure a detachment somewhere in the process. As i describe CoH right now to friends, I say it's pretty miasmic and dreary in changes to powers.
  22. https://www.gamesradar.com/games/third-person-shooter/helldivers-2-director-says-balance-is-a-myth-and-devs-shouldnt-spend-more-than-5-percent-of-their-time-on-it-if-you-balance-out-all-the-chaos-youve-made-an-uninteresting-game/ It’s almost crazy that this article was brought to my attention in a discord I’m in. A bit serendipitous when it comes to CoH, especially in regard to this upcoming page and prior pages. Helldivers 2 lead talks about game balance and its’ role in game design. Frankly I agree with his take. What are your thoughts?
  23. The people who valiantly defend this game and are toxic positivity incarnate do so probably for the reason listed above; it’s their only game. They defend it because really they have nothing else to compare it to and nowhere else to go once this thing gets shut down. So, they view all criticism as a personal attack and also are afraid if enough criticism is lobbied the people running the game might leave(I mean, I think there was an instance of a dev leaving because of a lot of criticism but that was way back in 2019-‘20) so they tend to get prickly.
  24. I’d imagine I’m one of the more hated people on these forums or at least on half of people’s ignore list(who are also most likely on mine). Received a few demerits, but that’s besides the point. To round it back to the article, I read it, and honestly a good deal of the stuff in it I have seen here and in closed beta. But especially here. Lots of people just trying to shut down discussion around their discontent with how development is going(sensible discussion at that) with “be grateful the game is back”.
