Corr will do more dmg and easier to solo than Defender. Defender will be (imho) funnier to play and more rewarding with teams. All in all, both should be awesome.

Tenebrous Tentacles, Night Fall and Soul Tentacles do DOT. You took all three and slotted them for dmg in the hopes that they'd deal a big amount of AoE dmg which they might when soloing but as I said, at the kill speed of any half decent team, dots are of little to no consequence except maybe on rain like powers. Also, both Night Fall and Soul Tentacles are absurdly narrow (20º and 25º) and Night Fall's cast time is long enough to make the power pretty much useless. Really cool animation, but pretty much useless.

I don't hate Dark, not in the slightest, I have shitload of chars with Dark powersets, I just don't like your build or hers, I find both subpar. She's the one who said DOT's are the key... and there's only one. You guys think because you put some dmg in TT and choose the narrowest cone in game you will do lots of AOE dmg with yoru DOT's, and you won't, neither with the rest of your builds. It's perfectly fine making a thread saying "this is my build and I love it", just accept other ppl don't and it's got nothing to do with Dark powers, it's because of your build.

At nowadays team killing speed, DOT's are of little consequence if you are in a half decent team

Yep, Dark powers are good and dark/dark is a good combo that allows doing lots of things even with sub-par builds

If it HAS to go for Soul Mastery, then I guess no other choice but going for ranged softcap but lots of sacrifices are made in Snarky's build, such as global rchg and dmg. Claire's one is better but still, lower dmg than mine. All in all, not saying Dark/Dark Blaster is bad or not survivable, not in the slightest, just saying your builds lack lots of things for the sake of ranged def

Problem is that Katana is an outddated set in serious need of review, hence why probably you didn't get many replies. I like Scorpion Shield because it also allows you to softcap to nrg dmg which is by far the most common one in high end content such as Tinpex TFs and such but Ice is always a good choice, you sacrifice the nrg softcap but in return you get more utilities such as Sleet. The build is not mine, a friend of mine did it, I tweaked it a bit but yep, I'd deffo skip Hurl Boulder. I left it there because I liked the 10% +rchg that allowed to have perma-carrion creepers but a couple seconds up or down shouldn't be a big problem. In fact, Ice epic will give you more slotting choices since a lot of the ones I took were aimed to softcapping nrg dmg (well, 0.8% short).

Afraid Earth Assault is great dmg for melee but you won't get huge ranged dmg from it. Even better example then, KD is as good dmg mitigation in melee as DA or maybe better, especially nowadays where pretty much every melee char is softcapped plus, if at early levels and still far from softcap, KD should be a more effective mitigation than DA. Since DA was brought as a major feature by someone, I don't think it makes Katana a good or even a decent set. Same goes for BS although BS maybe has an upper end to nowadays dmg standards because it brings a bigger burst. All in all, sets like Katana, Broad Sword and Claws are obsolete and in need of some sort of updating. My 2c

I'd say KD is a much better mitigation than lethal / melee def especially if you have to spam DA resulting in a big DPS loss. DA won't help you much in the endgame either where most dmg is nrg and a big chunk of it is ranged.

Katana is an obsolete set to nowadays standards, it deals sustained dps but War Mace is much much much better in all accounts since sustained dps won't take you anywhere on a team, things die fast and katana does not kill fast. Katana chars are just a matter of concept but it's definitely one of the worst scrapper primaries nowadays and needs a serious revamp imho.

Illusion Control Dominators FTW!! Also, if memory serves, there were a couple semi-finished control sets, Wind and Water Control, I remember seeing them in Mid's back in the day. Certainly, domis need a bit of love powerset wise.

Earth Control is an old favourite of mine, I love the hard control it offers however, Fire / Earth Dominator's dmg output is scary although hard to manage before Ageless. What Fire/Earth loses in control, gains in dmg so it depends. For teams I'd say Fire/Earth and for soloing Earth/Earth. Since I don't want to derail the thread further, I'll pm you my Fire/Earth build in case you want some ideas or a starting point -
