<pshaw> I see your delisting of Pluto as a planet and raise you a set of encyclopedias I own that precede Pluto's discovery. It was odd flipping through them and finding that bit on info, or lack thereof.

REQUEST: A Little More Storage for SG Bases
Oubliette_Red replied to BlackSpectre's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It's likely not changed, but back in the day every item in storage counted towards the limit on items you could have in your base. So not just objects used to build the base, but the storage racks and everything in them were included towards the max ceiling on what your base could hold. -
There's always LibreOffice, it's lighter than (MS Office-Excel) and has much of the functionality.

Anyone else prefer to just play "regular" coh?
Oubliette_Red replied to Forager's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much all and my friends ever do, with the occasional Hami and SNS thrown in, sometimes an SF. Just finishing up Janet Kellum's arc in FF beating on Crey and Paragon Protectors, mostly done with 2 stalkers and 2 blasters, quite a bit of fun. -
Werd. I'd have to go with Claw or Savage Melee/Dark Armour/Dark Mastery Vigilante Stalker that would hunt down those that prey on others, like children and women. All the horror stories I read in my news feeds, I would want to import a little horror of my own. That or an Illusion/Emp/Dark Vigilante Controller performing the same function, but using they own minds to destroy themselves and their accomplices. The body count would likely be high. jk I'd totally be the the Healer type... <.< >.>

No visual FX for Group Fly please
Oubliette_Red replied to Force Redux's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
While it would be nice to have a No SFX or even an alternate SFX option in the CC, you can get around it my changing it yourself in your game folder. Just need a 1 sec silence.ogg to then rename to the appropriate SFX file name and drop it in the correct sub-folder in your data\sounds\ogg\ location. Example, the fly SFX listed below would go into data\sounds\ogg\powers sub-folder. If you've added mods, then you should already have a data folder, if you have not modified any sounds, then you'd have to create the rest of those sub-folders. Folder name: powers File names: air_loop.ogg, Flight1.ogg, Flight_loop.ogg, Flight1_loop.ogg, Flight2_loop.ogg, Flight3_loop.ogg, Groupfly_loop.ogg, Hover_loop.ogg -
"No Transformation" option for HEATs
Oubliette_Red replied to Vic Raiden's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'd say in excess of 3/4's of the thread has been a derailment. Folks bringing up toggles and scaling with regards to a purely cosmetic request. -

The TL;DR version In 2012, CoH was shut down by it's parent company NCsoft Shortly thereafter, the rogue server came into being and was held a closely guarded secret with invite only access Some years later, existence of the rogue server became common knowledge (to those that paid attention to news about CoH). There was a lot of screaming and gnashing of teeth CoH game/server code got leaked into the wild so the anyone and everyone could run their own rogue server. This would also make it difficult for NCsoft to squash since there were now numerous servers running. Homecoming (HC) was one of the servers that was born of this. They then spent years working with NCsoft to legitimize their existence which finally happened this year. The HC devs themselves as well as all the mods are volunteers that have worked countless hours to continue the unique world that is CoH.- 35 replies

Nope, Fitness in inherent. The only thing you can do to minimize their effect is to not slot them.

Whether the person is new or veteran, always an opportunity for positive community engagement and sharing the link to the policy/terms on the topic. As for the people that ask, I think it is just CYA or assurance that if you broadcasted 30 seconds of a costume contest you don't get banned or contribute to COH going away again. On a similar but different topic that repeats, I am certain at any moment there is a going to be a post for "how can I get my characters back from Live servers?" "Why did my character get gen'd?!2?!?1!eleventy-eleven!!11!??2!12?" comes around far more frequently.

"No Transformation" option for HEATs
Oubliette_Red replied to Vic Raiden's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It appears to me that some folks assumed that you wanted all the powers in human form, although I got from your post that you were asking for Squid- and Drawf-form powers mode but remain human looking. The cosmetic appearance of the character (remaining human) would have no effect on how the powers function, correct? -
Here is another piece of info regarding videos and streaming of CoH

What boots are these, i want to remake my old toon
Oubliette_Red replied to gronbek's topic in Art & Multimedia
Those look like the Resistance boots. Not sure if you need tucked in pants to see them in the list or not. The only bottom I could not find them under were 'Tight Pants' which seems odd. -
Regarding your notes, I recall some of those being similar to yours and others being different, for instance, I'm fairly certain Alia killed the Baron and then went out among the battle and dispatched the wounded of the Emperor's troops. But it seems like a good opportunity to re-read the books. I feel like doing so myself but I'd have to dig through a ton of boxes to find them. Probably easier to see if the library has them. 🙂

I couldn't understand all the rave this garnered, but I did watch is a very long time ago and will have to give it another watch. 🙂 -
Yes... yes there is. If you have never added mods or modified a sfx file for your game then there a couple of steps you will need to take first: In your game folder create the following folder-subfolders: Drive:\CoH\data\sound\ogg\powers Click on the Silence/Modify sounds link in my sig and at the bottom of the first post download the Silence-Boop_test zip file and extract the silence.ogg file.* Place the silence.ogg file in the powers folder. Rename file to: molten_loop.ogg *You you have the software, you can create your own 1 second loop of silence. That should silence Molten Embrace's looped sound. It will also silence any other power/entity that uses this sfx as well.

If you wanted new powers what would it be?
Oubliette_Red replied to darcstarmerc's topic in General Discussion
Not exactly true, animations can have multiple triggers attached to it, similar to draw/activate, attack, hit, etc. The power would need to be built with triggers that identify which "ammo" is in use at the time and call to the appropriate sfx, similar to how Dual Pistol's Suppressive Fire will apply different hit sfx depending on which ammo is active.. The attack itself does not sound different, but when the target is hit there will be a change in the hit sfx. Depending on one's audio setting or perhaps even closeness to the target, folks may not even hear it, granted with all of the shooting going on folks may not notice it regardless. -
Screaming Goats in City of Heroes? Yes you can!
Oubliette_Red replied to Jordan Yen's topic in Guides
My first go-to is formerly knows as The Philotic Knight's Rosetta Stone spreadsheet though it's several years old now it still works for 95% of the sfx in the game, if that fails I go to the archive data dump from OuroDev which has decompiled versions of CoH, lastly I go pigg diving which can be quite tedious and sometimes not fruitful at all. Since there are so many sfx associated with the game (PK's spreadsheet is almost 20k rows long*), I only put the ones requested in my thread. *There are considerable duplicate entries for sfxs because so many things in the game can point to one file. For instance, Howling Twilight has 5 components, but 4 of them point to the same 2 sfx files so only 3 of the 5 are unique and would need to be modified, since the game points to the specific file. Demon Summoning is the worst offender with 50+ sfx files associated with it, the closes 2nd contender is Portal Corp's portals with I think 8 sfx. Noise-wise those two are the biggest offenders which is why I tried to lest ever sfx associated with them. Most everything else may have only 1 or 2 sfx that the majority take issue with. Originally I just recreated the thread from the archived Legacy forums (and not the neat, easily searched version @Michiyo created 🙂 ) and then scoured the thread to build the more easily perused tables on my first page. It's a labour of love. 🙂 -

There appears to be 3 different parts to Howling Twilight's sfx: SOUND\OGG\POWERS\SOOT2_LOOP SOUND\OGG\POWERS\MIASMA_LOOP SOUND\OGG\POWERS\MIASMABURST -

If anyone really want to experience Hard-Mode PvP, take you newly-minted, level 1 character into Recluse's Victory. You'll get level-bumped to 50 still have your level 1 attacks, minus some temp powers 😈 -
Praetoria level 40+ missions (feedback requested)
Oubliette_Red replied to Shocktacular's topic in Mission Architect
Back on Legacy, I had made a Praetorian arc (mostly it was for my expat and our RP group) rescuing citizens from New Tokyo. If I recall correctly, I had used the Siren's Call map or another one that is very similar to it, but made sure to make it non-escort. I'd pull it out of moth balls and submit it, but it's on my desktop with is still in a box from moving. Now that my expat is 41 I'll have to check this out.
