  1. i think you've touched on a good point here ol flea, in my view reward should be balanced against difficulty
  2. the debuff numbers are being significantly reduced - i only fire off my sonic attacks for their debuff values, my kin/sonic is a bit of a sitting duck

  4. i’ve always loved my kin/sonic, i only play two alts, that being one of them after the sonic changes i think i’ll delete it and re-roll it as a kin/dark
  5. poison/fire probably one of the best defenders for soloing. it disarms AVs in seconds

  7. my opinions differ as i have reverse altitis, i play just two alts since returning to CoH - the journey and gradual progression is what makes CoH a great game in my view shifting the playerbase back towards team based missions and actually having to play the game to receive rewards reintroduces balance in that the top rewards are earned through playing and are more of a rarity. i think it’s a good thing that top end rewards should be hard to achieve whilst PLing existed back on live, the modern AE cheats and exploits have ramped things up a notch - it’s unnatural, like drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth
  8. a well slotted IO build used to be reserved for your main alt which would be your pride and joy - in the modern era people can spin up a new fully kitted out lvl 50 every few days. IOs used to balance themselves through price
  9. in-game pvp is dead, Focused Feedback and Suggestions are the new Sirens Call and Warburg
  10. i agree - my view that it was changed due to pushback may be wholly incorrect (it is a skill of mine), perhaps there was a more efficient way of delivering change

  12. i might be misunderstanding the post i quoted, i believe the proposed change that vet levels can no longer be earned in AE has been scrapped?
  13. it’s written in a rather hyperbolic manner but i do stand by it. the game has become easier and easier over time, identifiable archetypes no longer exist and there’s not really any team dynamic anymore. the original CoH experience is going the way of the dodo without any meaningful intervention any suggestion to introduce moderation or balance is met with a very petulant mob
  14. what a shame - an opportunity to introduce slight and minor change to begin re-balancing the game was rolled back as the devs were scared off by a shrieking mob of infants edit: me defending my post
  15. i agree, and the devs appear to be introducing this in small amounts to measure the impact MMORPGs by nature are not pick up and play, the journey *is* the game. in my opinion the overuse of AE is an exploit which needs to be addressed
  16. people have already began shrieking as loud as their lungs can go at the mere thought of slight challenge being reintroduced to the game a major re-balance would really re-ignite the classic CoH feel. The ASF on relentless was the first challenging experience i’ve had since returning and it was great
  17. or, the devs can seed them like they do for most other market content farmers aren’t as important to the game than they like to think they are. they have sold themselves a myth that the game couldn‘t possibly survive without them
  18. applying changes to ensure the game has balance, diversity and challenge is an improvement in my view
  19. for some TFs where thematically viable, after the final mission is complete having progressively numerous and stronger waves of enemies could scratch the mass-death itch for a wide range of people. CoH meets dynasty warriors 2

  21. i’d pose this question: are the devs and other people really unable to fathom that some people enjoy non-combat playstyles? the homecoming playerbase looks down on any player which isn’t building for defense and trying to play every character like a scrapper there are many of us on the game who were drawn to it years ago by its ability to have dyamic teams where some players support, some control and others attack statistically defenders are played half as much as blasters and brutes. does it really help “balance” the game by introducing a change which makes the AT slightly less attractive to play?

    other way around - it’ll be great for other ATs but a large nerf for defenders who pick it solely for its debuffing values see my whining and foot stomping here:

    with the upcoming nerfs to sonic blast i’d agree and go with sonic/dark, building in a good amount of -acc for additional team support
  24. for defenders that use sonic as a debuffing set however, this means previously where i’d fire off shriek and screech, i’d now need to cycle through 4 attacks to get the same debuff value as someone who’s played my kin/sonic for the last 3 years this is an unfortunate change and mutes the superstar feel of the build as a wider constructive feedback note to you and the team i’d like to comment that i find these “modern” power dynamics overly complicated, i’m put off playing powersets which are hard work to understand. simplifying the sonic debuff to 15% across all powers would be a preferable change. often the development team seem to produce unnecessarily complex changes which incurs additional development time and diminishes the reception to the playerbase as people have difficulty understanding the change or new content i know quite few people commenting on this thread and i expect this is the top 10% of people who are experienced in CoX, if this strata of the playerbase is finding the changes difficult to understand i expect the majority of casual players will quite rightly gloss over
