  1. not every AT needs to be a combat class, i find playing a dedicated support AT very rewarding
  2. ah, perhaps it’s the feature where the availability of a recipe/IO replicates itself across all levels that has dramatically suppressed findings - having a purple drop just isn’t as exciting thesedays
  3. i’d imagine it’s quite a small majority of people running min/maxed procced out builds. i’ve never been much of a proccer but slowly coming round to it less seeding of the market to increase prices would be a nice change though, helps get that Sense of Achievement™ when things aren’t pretty much free
  4. i agree - mesmerize is a useful psi damage power which is useful for cim EBs, paragon protectors etc

  6. mind/fire/ice is my main, approaching 10,000 merits from how much i play it. find it hard to play anything else - a great all rounder and amazing damage having everything ranged is a huge benefit too, no need to build for defence
  7. i’ve never bothered to build any defences on my kin/sonic defender other than the S/L res shield from the mastery and do fine. people chase numbers too much - correct positioning is much more effective i’ve made a thermal/sonic to try it out a while ago, some thoughts; - the ally +absorb power from sorcery is great at low levels when slotted. very fun on a posi TF to give the team tank much more alpha soakage - assault rather than maneuvers, combines nicely with forge for almost +70% DMG - personally i like a well slotted veng with two def IOs, the “it’s going to be okay now bois” power - screech is a great sonic power, the -res debuff lasts for a very long time, something like 15 seconds - slot the chance for -res in melt armor - i prefer soul mastery on a defender, power boost can be helpful when you need a big beefy heal session, or want to have a ridiculous veng - combat jumping will help you be a lot more dynamic than hover in my opinion. i’m an SJ/CJ guy for life
  8. a mind/fire is my main and was back on live - one of the reasons the damage feels high (and is high) is because of the extremely short animation times of fire blast / blaze / blazing bolt if you start on a boss using incinerate and then hit them with the blaze/blazing bolt combo it’s incredibly damaging i’ve never worked out the DPS either but i’d imagine the burst damage is up there with the top scrappers etc

  10. i’m really pleased you’ve made this post, i’ve felt the same way for a long time CoV has better content - better story arcs, more dynamic missions, taskforces etc, however every zone is hard to distinguish from each other as they’re all the same run-down dreary repeat mercy island is a terrible first zone and is possibly why there is no real CoV community; - far too big for an entry level zone - awful to navigate due to the ridiculous walls - no central location that people want to naturally gather at. the closest redside ever came to a gathering spot was the black market in cap du diable grandville is also quite a dull final zone that doesn’t excite me. port oakes, st martial, nerva all look the same i want to love redside, but its world design lets it down.
  11. this thread is the conversation that goes round in my head over and over when seeking to finally find a third alt to play to 50 on HC since spring 2019 scrappers have amazing damage, but tanks have a big ol wide AoE and i love a good meaty AoE as @Bill Z Bubba points out though, the scrapper crit ATO is amazing.. what a difficult decision to make!

  15. there’s quite a few of us on excelsior, i often play in the evenings and have amassed a healthy friends list of UK players regrettably, a few people i’ve added to my global have turned out to be welsh but that’s life i suppose 😉

  17. i agree with you - i did all the ouroboros challenge badges on my dominator solo, a mix of red/blueside and generally found the redside arcs to be far more dynamic. i'm not one for reading any of the context but it was still much more interesting. though, the downside of redside is that everything is so gloomy and depressing the PI thing you describe is classic blueside for sure, "kill X of Y in area where they never spawn" do you find doing everything solo adds a nice amount of challenge to the game? if i follow suit i think i'll run it inspirations disabled too

  19. surprisingly i’ve found my kin/sonic defender to be my favourite support character over the last 2.5 years - SB from lvl 12 is such a great buff and makes a huge difference at low levels. everyone loves SB! - powerboosted transfusion is a mighty, mighty heal. it can change the outcome of a battle - powerboosted veng if a team member falls gives around +60% defence - fulcrum shift is always a game changer - nice sonic debuffs to help out further - fold space helps me bunch up the mobs nicely for fulcrum shift and to allow the AoE team members their chance to shine

  21. looks like there were some changes in issue 24 for LoTG to provide a set bonus to help with status protection screenie from an alt just now i personally wouldn't bother with it though, i find being held etc on a defender is often infrequent and not worth spending the slots on
  22. rather than 6 slot LoTG for the mez protection set bonus i'd instead carry some break free inspirations is what i mean, using the freed up slots elsewhere in the build
  23. hey - nice defender, i’m working on the polar opposite at the moment, a thermal/sonic def consider seeing whether you can live with just having super speed / hasten / tp target so you can pickup spirit ward. i’ve found it to be a great help when placed on a target that takes a lot of aggro. as your shields will add a nice amount of defence, the +absorb buffer will build up nicely some other thoughts: - infrigidate: slot a good amount of accuracy in this if you’re keen to use it before sleet is available. will need to break down any initial defences for it to hit otherwise - same with benumb, if it misses you’re waiting a long time to try again - i’ve never bothered 6 slotting LoTG, i’d simply carry a break free instead - 6 slotting defenders bastion is worth doing - pickup vengeance, when slotted well it changes the outcome of a difficult battle and can be the difference between team wipe and survival. some +def and +tohit makes a good difference
  24. Hey Everyone - Happy Friday Whilst hunting for defeat badges in Perez just now I thought it would be nice if badges had a visual clue - visible to teammates too - when achieved. Perhaps a faint column of light up to the sky for a few seconds with the badge displayed briefly above the character. For notable accolades which provide a permanent buff (e.g. Portal Jockey), an effect similar (but toned down) to when you change from blue to red at Null the Gull displaying the accolade's icon The column of light could perhaps reflect whether the badge is an exploration (cream), defeat (red), achievement (green) etc It would make it easier to see when a badge was achieved and allow teammates share in on the fun. For individuals not interested in badges in the slightest, a "no visual cue" option would be great I'm sure
