To try and milk someone for money because they were on the verge of bankruptcy. This is no longer the case. But whatever, if you want to worry about it, more power to you. I could be wrong, however I believe they meant the photographer community. Sharing prints for time is fairly common in those circles.

You made quite a lot of assumptions here. You have no idea whether my friend whom I mentioned traded prints for time with. He has done this several times for local businesses, animal shelters, schools and so forth.

Well no, I do not believe it is. Being concerned that a Marvel or DC or Disney would file suit against a company who owns a long defunct IP because someone stole it from them and created a lookalike character is paranoia in my opinion. Chances are far, far, far greater that NCSoft will shut the game down on a whim than anyone filing suit against them because of IP issues. Sure, I suppose it is possible. Getting struck by a stray meteor is possible too. The chances are so remote it is not worth concern in my opinion. If you feel otherwise, that is fine. We can disagree on the seriousness or likelihood of the matter.

I am somewhat familiar with trademark law. As for "bad press", all you need do is read some of the responses in this thread regarding Disney and their impact on copyright law to know they are not viewed so favorably. A few minutes googling of the subject and you will find that yes, there is such a thing as bad press. Disney most of all is nowhere near immune to it. Yes, the game is niche. That pretty much makes the point that it is very, very, very unlikely a Disney would even care about it. Also, "on retainer" does not in any way mean "free of charge". I do not think the game was kept secret for the reason you think it was....

So based on this, I do not see why they would even bother with this server. Just saying. Kind of like homages.

Yes I know. That is not the question I asked though. Disney, Marvel, WB, EA, Blizzard - a whole slew of IP owning companies do not seem to be doing much of anything against sites like Deviantart where artists are charging for commissions of IP based characters. I would near guarantee they know it is going on there.

I suppose it can be said that Marvel and Disney know what is happening here too and have not said anything yet. People were making clones for quite a while here - even participating (and winning) some of the sponsored costume contests - and no one from Marvel or Disney said anything.

I have to ask, why would they want to here? Sure, they have a lot more money now. That does not mean they will just blow it all on frivolous lawsuits that do not really gain them anything and would generate a lot of bad press on their part.

I am not so sure that is the case. Minor nitpick, most all of the examples you are providing here were because someone was trying to make a profit off of Disney property.

Sadly no, not that I remember. I have not played in a year or more though. I doubt it has been added. There are hardly any content updates to it.

As others have suggested, Retsu is generally not needed. I always skip Blinding Powder myself. Never found a use for it personally. I will also add that I completely love this set. I have 4 scrappers (Kat/Nin, KM/Nin, DB/Nin, StrJ/Nin) and love playing all of them. Quite easy to exceed the softcap for defense without spending a small fortune on IOs. Love the overall performance of the set.

See that is interesting. I have a friend who is a photographer and often does "prints for time" jobs. Sole reason he does this is to get his work out and has gotten several paying jobs because of it through word of mouth.

My sentiments as well. I would up vote this suggestion a million times if I could.

Champions Online has grappling. It does look a bit weird when you are outdoors with nothing for it to attach to, but I guess that is to be expected.

A question for the Homecoming folk - I am sure I am not the only builder who would love a larger plot size to work with. I think the maximum object count is fine as is, however a larger plot size would be great. Is this feasible to implement? Also, is it possible to add some different backdrop image options to the list of skies available? Perhaps city skylines or mountain ranges or forests or alien landscapes. Thank you

If you are referring to the case about the parents who wanted the Mickey Mouse headstone for their dead child, Disney did not allow it because it was the express wishes of Walt Disney himself for Disney characters to not be used for anything unhappy like that. It had nothing to do with money.

So? Are they being created and distributed with the express permission of the IP owner? I do not think anyone is suggesting character names should be allowed.

I agree however I think this is a bit of a slippery slope as well.
