What would be the best way to keep players retention?
Infinitum replied to spartan52's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Nah you absolutely need to be worried about pushing something out overpowered, taking something away is harder than adding more to it - just look at the EBFPC threads. But honestly thats exactly what you are acting like here. If you were in CB you see the painstaking detail that is gone through to make sure everything works, everything is balanced, and everything gels with the rest of the flow ofnthe game. This isnt amateur hour, this is professional level stuff with a volunteer staff. So if you were there you should known this. TW is still a top performer if not the top once fully optimized. GBs testing identified the low performers also - keep this in mind - so know those sets are very likely to see some love soon because of those tests. Thats hardly not optimized use of his time. Not to mention most of the sets are within a few seconds of each other from top to the bottom minus the top performers. That's as balanced as we have ever been - and they all work well. Can you say mission accomplished HC? And also thank you @Galaxy Brain. You keep saying vanilla, but thats incorrect. Balance does not mean vanilla. We are getting truly unique and diverse playstyles. Take melee for instance New EM is the king of ST again, but has serviceable AOE. TW is likely still the king of AOE and it now flows better and is easier to use - thats from in game feedback with pugs. Nothing plays identical but at the end you get a similar result overall, I would call that balanced and diverse. A lot of care went into that and again its not amateur hour. well its a good thing you arent in charge then IMO because i like the fact HC is willing to tackle the hard stuff so we can have a more stable game long term. And again this isnt the other servers, what they do is irrelevant here as it should be. Not saying there isn't cool stuff out there, but HC is the contender doing it the right way so the cooler stuff will be even cooler and more stable once they implement it without ridiculous iWin buttons on every power. -

They end up where they end up, HC can't nor shouldn't be here to try to please everyone, because thats impossible. What they are doing is stability and balance with additions that make sense and improve fun and playability. Again... Middle of the road And wherever You go... There you are. -
What would be the best way to keep players retention?
Infinitum replied to spartan52's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
No, because I have also played on other servers out there both strict and lenient lile cake and made an informed decision based on empirical reasoning that HC is middle of the road. Because thats how normal rational adults make decisions. Does that mean I love everything HC does? Nope. But its equally offset by things they have done that I have liked. Take TW for example - yes it was a nerf but it did more to balance TW for larger enjoyment and I have seen first had with pugs commenting more than once how they like the new TW better now. HC from,my experience rarely takes something away without giving more back. Ie middle of the road. -

But I disagree, and whatever another server does is again irrelevant here. Anything approaching Cake values is not nor ever will be middle of the road. Middle of the road is HC. -

I believe Myr is simply stating that no other server matters, and likewise anyone elses viewpoint on another server doesnt matter where matters pertaining to HC are concerned. Not saying its wrong to be there or sample other waters - just that it is largely irrelevant here because this is where we are. "Wherever you go, there you are." Buddha -
Time to enforce the name holding expiration rules
Infinitum replied to Kazuuk's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Umm yeah take all the time you need. lol There is one sgmate that would love to have my names unlocked just to make humorous effegys of me. So please take any amount of time to not let that happen. lol -

I have to disagree slightly with this, it's not been my experience that any of these powers have been an iwin button on what my group runs which is mainly task force of the week type stuff. If the task force is below 45 you cant use them anyway so it takes incarnates out of the equation for that content. Which I think is correct. Where I kinda agree with you is if you were running radio missions and I could almost see where that could make it less fun and challenging, and also less rewarding. As for the high level contacts like Maria Jenkins, Unai Kemen, etc if you play those on +4/8 with the amount of debuffers and exotic damage types you face, and stronger enemies - nobody is map clearing every other mob with judgement powers, and destiny isnt lasting long enough to be perma godmode - thats from personal experience. On high level task forces ITF MLTF there again if you play on a high enough setting those powers are warranted IMO On TF such as Apex and Tin Mage incarnate powers are required to be able to start and to be effective you have to have your alpha slotted. My overarching point is endgame content where incarnates are useful, its warranted - radio missions IMO is not endgame content and maybe radios need to be tweaked to be incarnate worthy at that point. Any other content exemps you out of incarnate abilities - so that's a good 70-80 percent of the game where even if you have incarnate abilities you cant use them anyway and that leaves plenty for those that like to use them - they should be allowed to IMO but maybe with tweaks to high level radio content. So I'm not seeing it as a high overarching problem, because there already exists ways to avoid them other than limiting them to Itrials, I would oppose that. -

Ill Rad says hello. And quite a few others actually. You can actually as it is now use any AT on HC to do all content at any level. (Not referring to soloing the magisterium or anything like that) Teaming is just a way to amplify the fun and share experiences with your buddies. -
I ran my +4/8 ITF test last night with Alpha Infi, and they would eventually get me down to 1/4 health where it would stay - this was a double spawn of Cims. It looks like They will faceplant you fast once they do manage to get past your defense and then it just stops. SRs scaling resist combined with reactive defenses scaling resist just brings the slide to a screeching halt. I let it sit there for 30 min, didn't kill me. I left the room for about 15 more, came back - still alive and the Cims all had barely a sliver of end left. lol they literally wore themselves out hitting me.

Added Alpha Infinitum - SR Claws Tanker.

Well I eventually figured it out after playing around with incarnates on Beta a few weeks ago, Ageless Radial rotating with the Various Rad Clickys i pretty much could survive indefinitely - however it would get pretty dicey at times. This is my setup - Its not bad but if you let debuffers catch you flat footed it can hurt really bad
-
Yeah Rad is one of the resistance sets, you can cap everything but cold. Dark, Electric, and Fire are the other 3 resistance sets. IMO Dark is the best of the resist sets.
-
DDR is the decisive factor, I honestly had no idea Rad was as weak as it was against debuffing enemies, and I never hung around long enough to find out until I got shreaded a few times on a rad rad tanker when I was pushing too far ahead and got isolated on a double spawn where the sybils were. I had never had any issue with Rad before so I thought it was a bug. After the TF was over I went back in and camped in a spawn and watched my numbers - without attacking - defense in about 15 seconds goes to -50. Shortly after that the health bar plummets and ends - and thats with 90% res to all but cold. It wasnt a bug unfortunately, but when you apply ageless radial you hang in there with no HP bar movement until the ddr buff weakens, then the above happens again. Thats not saying rad is bad, because against LR and other tasks it's top tier, but it does have a weakness in no ddr in some settings like the ITF. Thats why hybrid sets that have ddr like shield or invul can camp in an ITF spawn indefinitely. Even my willpower can outlast my rad on spawn camping in the ITF - it has some DDR also combined with insane regen. Never tested it on SR but I would imagine it would be fine.
-
Rad Armor isn't the best for a max level ITF under normal circumstances, let alone under debuff or buffed enemies. With rad having no ddr - once the defense collapses they shred even capped resistances - even through the regen, absorb shield, and heal.

Updated on Page 1 with some other non Tanker Goodies.

I am going to update this with some new builds actually, and im not sure where MIDs is in the update process but if you have trouble viewing the builds let me know and i will send you my files in Mids that will allow you to open them. As far as EM goes, i absolutely love it, i made several EM characters to add to the ones i had already that had shelved cause EM was outdated before this update. Check the first page of this for the updated files.

Basically use any of those invul builds and swap TW to the secondary - and you are unkillable against anything not exotic - and by exotic I'm talking Hamidon -heal type stuff or Tyrant magisterium at crackling lightning.

I stand by seeing me do it last night effectively.

Thats actually not entirely true anymore. Combination of the new combat teleport, and teleport utilizing keybinds for movement and movement to target make a granite with with rooted a whole other level of fast, deadly and unkillable. Throw in fold space and you have a nightmare to the bad guys.

I'm not even ashamed, i made 5 EM characters once I27 went live, spent 1.4 billion and 8k merits to slot them up fully. I have 38 active fully slotted level 50s 14 Tankers 6 Scrappers 4 Stalkers 4 Brutes 6 Controllers 1 Blaster 1 Sentinel 1 MM 1 Corruptor I also have about as many "Projects" I'm working on the back end, but its probably going to be a while before they get attention due to my EM obsession at the moment - I have 8 of those. lol

Updated it further. Basically travel based on target acquisition and distance. /bind q "powexec_location target combat teleport" /bind x "powexec_location forward:100 combat teleport" /bind s "powexec_location back:100 combat teleport" /bind a "powexec_location left:100 combat teleport" /bind d "powexec_location right:100 combat teleport" /bind z "powexec_location up:100 combat teleport" /bind w "powexec_location forward:400 teleport" /bind e "powexec_location target teleport"

Rad melee single target animation times
Infinitum replied to Umagon 23's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Rad melee is pretty good as it is, 1. devastating blow is the only really slow animating attack but for such a powerful hit with contamination as a special effect it kinda fits where it should be. 2. the rest of the set I believe is balanced around the contamination effect which does splash damage when a contaminated target is hit and a mix of Smashing, energy, and toxic dmg which is applied reliably through atom smasher aoe and irradiated ground aura then the remaining attacks. 3. All of the attacks do -def All of that combined actually makes rad melee one of the better one's all around despite its slow ST heavy hitter. Claws while one of the better sets too due to its speed and rotation is strictly lethal dmg, with - def on two powers. If rad melee had claws speed and retained its effects would be horribly imbalanced albeit fun. :-) -
I now have 7 EM characters to 50 Invul EM T Fire EM T EM Invul B EM EA B EM EA Sc EM EA St EM SH St ST it's awesome - the best. AoE is serviceable enough to grab agro - this is why you have a team. I have toons that can clear maps faster with AoE death but nothing feels as fun as EM does, for me its because it recaptures and then goes a few steps further than pre nerf EM. I wouldn't call it OP It excels at what its supposed to and is balanced around Focus. Its definately not Old TW broken OP.

Thanks to all that came out! and see ya next year!
