  1. Ditto on grabbing AP right out of the box. Plus, if You snag an Ouro Portal, you can run over to Galaxy Echo and get all the badges that zone, too for 5 more merits. On Excel, there’s is often a portal sitting somewhere, but, if not, you can ask for one, and peeps will invariably drop one.
  2. Oh, those Skulls... How COULD they? Get. In. COMPLIANCE! After some of this-n-that, we settled on Tristan Caine..and DELIVERED. And so did he: Takes awhile, but the rewards are pretty decent. LOTS of traveling to AP, KR, Sky, and PP was in there, as well. Worth it, doing the solo route. All in a day's work, citizens! [Old togs weren't "silvery" enough. Now, we're "sheen-ier"]:-)
  3. Time to expand the roster. In a bid to create my own version of Astro City's Silver Agent, I've come up with: RICK STERLING! The man, the myth, the legend. From days of yore, he's reborn. Rick Sterling. The Argent Agent. The Silver Sentinel. Paragon of virtue and relic of an age decidedly...erm...silver.:-) Starting with all the L1 contacts in AP and grinding through them organically. Avoiding the nice Habashy and, later, Stockwell arcs, just to see what happs. Time to brush up on my cheesy dialogue...
  4. I guess my contribution to this to ask a question: as I don't play the new shiny much (unless Neverwinter counts):-), I'd ask how user-friendly the game is. When I think about just all the chat tabs and menus, and other nice-to-know-but-won't-see-immediately (i.e., P2W vendors; exploration badges for quick AP merits, and such), I wonder how a new player, particularly one used to newer games, would perceive all this. I know I didn't know a damned thing about what I was doing when I first played. I took the train to KR when I was, like L3, and immediately got my ass canked by clockwork. Bounced around like a jackass trying to get away. Someone laughed in broadcast. It was a stunning display of ignorance. I rolled up another toon with a 3-slot in Sprint (bc, wtf not? I want to go faster!).:-) I ended up playing through all that, and, of course, doing some research. It got better. Or rather, easier. Got to put in that time, baby. So, obviously, it takes a bit of time for the average dope like me. Which brings me to my question: what is the bar for entry right NOW? I would think, with everything unlocked early, it'd be fairly low. But things are so ingrained in me now, I can't put myself back to the moment where everything was brand-spankin' new. So...how user friendly are we? Even if we're not, is that really a barrier, at all? For me, selling points are: -It's free gdit. -Doesn't take much of a machine to run. -A great community, overall. -Play it how you want. -it's free (did I mention that) -You can fly through the damned sky at low levels. Like, just fly (friend of mine played this a little with me, before disappearing to other stuff, and that was his main comment-"wow!I can fly!"). Oh, yeah...it's free...(and, like, no in-game BS purchases.) (pst...FREE! [and awesome]).
  5. The original post was about recruiting new players. Which means all the content would be automatically be new to them. Guess you you missed this obvious point in your rush to throw trash on the lawn for everyone else to pick up.
  6. Kill Ewe (she’s baaad) Fowl Play (obviously an insane villain jester) Spader Gator (uses shovel) Bird Brawn (obviously a tank):-) Illegal Eagle Russell Crow:-)
  7. Yet ANOTHER (alt universe) Nemesis. Had enough yet, man? P.S. This one comes with a badge:
  8. Looks like Tombstone crashing through the window there:-)
  9. On Sentinels, I’d suggest /Regen as a secondary. The game will be more enjoyable, I think, without constant energy crashes at lower levels. He can skip the click heals if need be for the inherents and toggles. if not that, I’d suggest a straight up Tank of almost any kind. That allows you to play the fiddly support character while they wade on in.
  10. Some mechanical chicken toons: Clock-a-doodle-do (Sonic?) Clock Fighter (I assume claws/something) One I actually made: Laser Gator (Beam, poison) Horse: Ed the Dead (MM, zombies, one of them named Wilbur)
  11. So, when you get this far with this guy: You get this: And if you're also doing this guy's arc: You pick up this: Not a bad day's work.:-)
  12. Just to correct something mentioned unthread, but you CAN create your own AE story contacts, missions, etc, even arcs spread out over multiple contacts. There’s many authors who do that sort of thing. It just gets buried in the farms.
  13. Design Notes: *Started this some time ago, but it languished in development. Lack of ideas, motivation, what have you. Managed to get some more scripting down earlier this week. Then I found out today that my eldest son took his own life. Our family is spread out all over the States, so it was a lot of messaging and some phone calls (mainly the former, because talking to anyone has been difficult all day). He was on a ventilator at first. His mother (wife from 1st marriage), had him taken off when it was determined he was a vegetable. He died 18 minutes after being disconnected. There are things to do, and we're doing them. Together, as families do during these things. My current wife and partner - best friend, my everything - has been there for me, including letting me sort things out as best I can. And so, with a lack of anything to do but stay busy, to not overly dwell (because this is life, and a part of it), I opened this silly little mish up, and finished it, today. It's not anything special. Just a little story about a "complicated" superhero (i.e, a Rogue, which my son would have appreciated). We lost touch over the years, as he rambled about the country, roaming from job to job, couch surfing, aimless. Did stints in jail, and in rehab. After this last one, he seemed to be on an upward trajectory. He looked good. He sounded good. And then, he decided to drink again, and he wasn't. In the end, he let his demons get to him, again. This time, they won. There's little we can do now, but wait for his body to be cremated. We'll meet in one of his favorite places, and spread his ashes in the mountains he loved (his vast roams did lead to beautiful places, too). In the meantime, I can tell a story - this silly little mission arc - about a "complicated" superhero (he loved them when he was little). I can do that, and put his name on it. And then after that, I'll remember that it's Spring. And Easter. And it is Jackie Robinson day. I am sorry he won't see any more Springs. But maybe, just maybe, he's somewhere where it's always Spring, Maybe he's some place where he can truly fly. Thanks for listening, and everybody - I mean everybody - stay safe. Tell the people close to you that you love them. Crane P.S. Thanks, @Darmian, for the chat. You're a good friend.
  14. Ran into Supper’s Ready. We ran a couple mishes. Alfante is L26 now. Would like to hit 30 this weekend but not likely. We’re traveling .
  15. Well, they ARE "Sky" Raiders...
  16. Not a quote, but: Oh, good lord, no...hasn't the man suffered enough?
  17. Welcome back. And remember: when it comes to advice, don’t listen to nobody (but listen to everybody):-
  18. In honor of reaching level 20, Alfante pays homage to those who keep him gainfully employed: So gauche. Let's slap some burnt orange on that puppy...
  19. I have Alfante up to L17 (if I remember right). He's been LOTS of fun so far. One issue was what to do with other pools. I thought about Sorcery, since I really like Rune of Protection, but, considering I wrote him as a former circus acrobat, Leaping made more sense. Gonna stay thematic, and not take SJ, which means I'll need lame jump kick to get acrobatics and spring attack. Fun so far!
  20. 95-12-61 Tanker-Dark-Rad thats actually good 61-25-74 Mastermind-Demon-Storm workable, but I hate pets 96-86-42 Tanker-Super Reflexes-Katana wow...never seen that. That might be it. I was just running a scrapper with Broadsword last night. Maybe I’ll just steal his strange costume and run him as this tank. Some time later... Well, here it is: Abuelo's rusty old sword called to me from among his forgotten belongings. When I answered, it unleashed the espíritus divinos inside, just as it did for him. I knew what I had to do. My life as a circus acrobat is over. I am now what my grandfather was, in those bright, golden days of long ago. I am Alfante - Blade of Justice! I had to explain that funky costume somehow.:-) Spring Break, so I should be able to run him up. Are there rules for this somewhere? Al is L7 now. I changed his name from Alfanje (or 'cutlass') to Alfante, only because it sounds better. D
  21. And then this guy would show up out of nowhere. I REALLY like Astro City...:-)
  22. I'd be the Ben Urich of The Row.:-)
  23. Hey, gang. I’ll be doing some AE scripting on Excel Friday a.m., but if anyone comes on, feel free to PM me. Been running Tracklash solo on occasion. He’s getting up there, which means I might be looking to get a new concept going. Maybe finally run something Sonic. ..or I might do yet another face punching vigilante type.:-)
  24. I suppose it’s Juan Jimenez, “The Devil of King’s Row.” KR Devil is an AR/TA/Munitions Blaster whom I use to test my AE arcs (when he’s not noodling around on teams red and blue). His secret ID is based on an actual KR contact, and I’ve featured him as an NPC in the finale of my AE series featuring Cage Consortium. Why this guy? I guess because of the options. He has all the nice arrow effects (glue, flash, EMP stun, ice lockdown) plus soft control with his AR damage, since all his KBs are proc’ed to KD. He does a bit of everything, is pretty quick on his feet (thanks, movement stacking), and I can pretty much play him in my sleep. I consider The Row my home zone. It has the gritty feel of the type of environs I enjoy in the comic world. Juan is my homage to that type, feel, and presentation. Running with the Devil always feels like home.:-)
