Last time I scripted, the tools menu would not appear during testing. I could not autokill, or jump to next objective, etc. That's the only issue I've seen, however.

Assuming you didn't want to fly through everything (because you find SS disorienting on mish maps), can you get a similar effect with a stealth proc in Sprint, then run Sprint+Infiltration? I run a lot of "low to the ground" PCs, and will often that to move a bit faster, but not so fast I fly past things.

Been running contact mishes fairly regularly for a few weeks now (on and off, through the Long Riders SG). While I find a lot of the old mishes have those repeated, tedious hunts, I don't find a lot of them "stupid." Or rather, I don't find them any stupider than missions I've gotten in other MMOs. I do think that the older arcs lack of cut scenes to push the narrative makes them appear worse than they are (that, along with an over-reliance on "hunt X _____s" and "Talk to ________"). Without those scenes, the story is much more text dependent. Details are less blatant and, frankly, less interesting due to the lack of visuals (imho-and I say this as someone who enjoys well-written stuff). In the final analysis, all game stories boil down to defeat, collect, or escort, with some traitor mechanics/ambushes and talkies thrown in. The rest is window dressing (which, for our more dated stories, could be better I admit). This isn't a video game devoted to a straight narrative, focused on a single character. As a catch-all milieu, with various environments delivering different tones and themes, I think there's enough out there that is still pretty good (decent?). Would agree we could use some spit and polish, though.

Trying blue but I want to kill Longbow..part 1
cranebump replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Of COURSE The Row is a dump. That’s why it stands out. Put it Redside, it’s just another zone. Kings Row-the home of moxie:-) -

You actually SEE people on redside?:-) -
Tricky Ricky has been Pistol-whipping his way through Sky/Steel contacts. Watch Laura Lockhart give her all. Went ahead and did the Stockwell/Eagle Eye stuff. Handled Veles surprisingly well, thanks to all the KB (basic pistols [no ammo switching-I decided he just uses plain ol' bullets), plus he's outfitted with temp grenades and plas taser [using $$ from enhancement converter sales, one of our allowed "cheats," since we are not restricted from playing the market, or anything we can afford to buy). It's been a pretty fun run, outside having to do thos hunt mishes. On the other hand, doing the hunts makes you keep close track of where to find what you need. Spent a LOT of time knocking out Lost in The Gish, beneath the overpasses. Had a pre-L20 Tsoo mish, and had to think, where are they, besides Talos. Then I remembered. Steel Canyon, toward ICON.:-) Since we can do some selling for $$, I should be able to slot SO's pretty easily. We'll see if he hits a wall somewhere along the line. I haven't gotten any really good recipes yet.

Let's talk about melee cones, because I suck at them
cranebump replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
I have one toon where I just went, screw it, and have Shadow Maul, Sands of Mu, and Flurry. I cannot recall if he also has Cross Punch, but if not...someone's getting a Respec. 🙂 -
Let's talk about melee cones, because I suck at them
cranebump replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
I..**think** so. Trying to recall. I know there's times when I have clicked a melee cone on a joust move, and somehow smacked a ton of baddies, whereas, other times, I walk up, target, shift, move, and I'm still somehow hitting just one. Unrelated, but can we make Flurry a cone? It'd be nice to apply that minor (and not always successful) Disorient to more than one foe. -
A mix, and it most often depends on time, as in the real world clock. If I'm due to log, I'll start stealthing so as to finish. I might also stealth if I'm really close to levelling, and don't want to have to plow through a lot of "suddenly blue" baddies. Finally, I might stealth to avoid fighting certain types of enemies, for various reasons (like Freaks...I do not like to fight them twice [esp Super Stunners, who always seem to rez, even when I think I'm out of their range]).

One reason I used to run those radios back in the day was for the rewards. You could get jump pack and/or jet pack in KR. Then you had the other stuff you could get in other zones (not to mention the temp powers some of the sides gave you. If anything, I'd like to see radios expanded in some way. With P2W, these are just skipped (though my first 50 upon return managed to do them all, and now has the ability to repeat them at the contact in Steel). I'm not sure what can be added to make them more attractive, unless maybe it's significant progress toward Day Job badges (I mean, if you're protecting a bank, you're literally helping law enforcement, so...how about immediately granting the Day Job for X/time in game. Also: how about some sort of power/buff that comes with the Stouthearted badge (and vill equivalent)? Might grant incentives to protect AP. Beyond that, radios ARE in game missions. Not sure that cutting them does anything except railroad everyone straight into nothing but 100% story arcs. Not sure this would be a good thing, overall.

Placate. Every now and then my blaster that has it draws the ire of those damned Carnies. Thwop. Oh…I could a….sh*t… (then I end up using the rez from the same pool…I think it’s the same pool…damn I forget I have that one too…)

Rick Sterling is trucking toward 20 at the moment. Running Mark Freeman's Clocky stuff. After a couple mishes, he throws a Plasmatic Taser your way: Goes well with the one I already have:-)

DESIGN NOTES: Titles: obviously a take on Steinbeck (including individual mission titles). Exploring the "Smuggler's Run" coalition found in the Warriors Lore, as well as the Family's ability to create Consigliere's and other super-powered thugs. Guiding question: Assuming the Family's ability (above) is a closely guarded secret, who would be REALLY interested in stealing it? Introduces eventual Warrior "turncoat" Alexander Pavlidis at an earlier point in the overall narrative. Callbacks: The contact, Wesley, has appeared in other arcs of mine. Customs: a merc crew that merges magic and tech. Originally, wasn't going to do this, since one of my "Customs" was pairing similar in-game groups (Hellions and Outcasts, for example). But entity "Lupan" was mentioned, so it made sense to bring them in, particularly since a subplot involves whether the Warriors are actually getting into the "dishonorable" practices Alex believes they are, and hiring an outside group gives Odysseus deniability. NOTE: The Lupan varied in difficulty. I ran with a L15 DP/Dev blaster (SO's only) who had Toughness toggle. The first time through, got my ass handed to me by the blasters. Ended up having to proceed much more carefully. Temp powers definitely helped. End boss was pullable in early runs, because they kept spawning close to last room entrance. Might be a lot tougher, otherwise. Last thing: It's listed as L10-15, but I don't know that I'd even try this at anything less than max. My squishy blaster was fine until the end, but I can see it being really dicey due to power synergies of certain enemy combinations. Now set up as Looking for Feedback. Thanks in advance, Crane

Compiled Dev Choice Awards for HC. (ongoing)
cranebump replied to TerroirNoir's topic in Mission Architect
Having played a lot of these (and scripted a few), I'd say most SFMA's are solo-friendly. Of course, AT selection can shift the equation one way or another on the "friendly" scale.:-) -
The command for text size is called “scale,” and is not available for all text. For example, you can tweak clues for color and such, but not the text that shows when you complete a glowie click. Those always come out green.

Ditto on grabbing AP right out of the box. Plus, if You snag an Ouro Portal, you can run over to Galaxy Echo and get all the badges that zone, too for 5 more merits. On Excel, there’s is often a portal sitting somewhere, but, if not, you can ask for one, and peeps will invariably drop one.

Oh, those Skulls... How COULD they? Get. In. COMPLIANCE! After some of this-n-that, we settled on Tristan Caine..and DELIVERED. And so did he: Takes awhile, but the rewards are pretty decent. LOTS of traveling to AP, KR, Sky, and PP was in there, as well. Worth it, doing the solo route. All in a day's work, citizens! [Old togs weren't "silvery" enough. Now, we're "sheen-ier"]:-)

Time to expand the roster. In a bid to create my own version of Astro City's Silver Agent, I've come up with: RICK STERLING! The man, the myth, the legend. From days of yore, he's reborn. Rick Sterling. The Argent Agent. The Silver Sentinel. Paragon of virtue and relic of an age decidedly...erm...silver.:-) Starting with all the L1 contacts in AP and grinding through them organically. Avoiding the nice Habashy and, later, Stockwell arcs, just to see what happs. Time to brush up on my cheesy dialogue...

I guess my contribution to this to ask a question: as I don't play the new shiny much (unless Neverwinter counts):-), I'd ask how user-friendly the game is. When I think about just all the chat tabs and menus, and other nice-to-know-but-won't-see-immediately (i.e., P2W vendors; exploration badges for quick AP merits, and such), I wonder how a new player, particularly one used to newer games, would perceive all this. I know I didn't know a damned thing about what I was doing when I first played. I took the train to KR when I was, like L3, and immediately got my ass canked by clockwork. Bounced around like a jackass trying to get away. Someone laughed in broadcast. It was a stunning display of ignorance. I rolled up another toon with a 3-slot in Sprint (bc, wtf not? I want to go faster!).:-) I ended up playing through all that, and, of course, doing some research. It got better. Or rather, easier. Got to put in that time, baby. So, obviously, it takes a bit of time for the average dope like me. Which brings me to my question: what is the bar for entry right NOW? I would think, with everything unlocked early, it'd be fairly low. But things are so ingrained in me now, I can't put myself back to the moment where everything was brand-spankin' new. So...how user friendly are we? Even if we're not, is that really a barrier, at all? For me, selling points are: -It's free gdit. -Doesn't take much of a machine to run. -A great community, overall. -Play it how you want. -it's free (did I mention that) -You can fly through the damned sky at low levels. Like, just fly (friend of mine played this a little with me, before disappearing to other stuff, and that was his main comment-"wow!I can fly!"). Oh, yeah...it's free...(and, like, no in-game BS purchases.) (pst...FREE! [and awesome]).

The original post was about recruiting new players. Which means all the content would be automatically be new to them. Guess you you missed this obvious point in your rush to throw trash on the lawn for everyone else to pick up.
