  1. It's worth noting: Wind Control was in development pre-shutdown, so I would expect an attempt to create it here. Holy Light on the other hand? Dreamed up entirely by coxg devs. Not only does HC have no reason to compare themselves to that server's offerings -- coxg would, as usual, accuse HC of stealing code or ideas or whatever's fashionable today anyway. It's in HC's best interest to stay their own path and develop their branch in a bubble. They will strive to add material that feels like an extension of the will of the original studio. And that means if they were to add something comparable to Holy Light, they would probably be best served not even reading about how coxg's works.
  2. I want you to seriously consider the optics of saying "hey @Redlynne, I saw your facepalm react and you are wrong!" I would have no idea what part of my post prompted such a response, and I would have to suppose your issues if I wanted to engage with them. And I would be the one left looking paranoid. I think most importantly though... In that scenario, your reaction is an act of derision. Sure, there will be some situations where people would use the reaction to commiserate with the poster, but we all know that's the minority use case. I won't support a feature whose main use case is derision. Even moreso when it's intended to skew the social dynamic in favor of online bullies. I would consider pursuing a "no" or "disagree," but never a facepalm.
  3. Sorry, I really do not like this idea. Facepalming people's posts would amount to nothing more than childish derision that the poster cannot easily respond to. Seems like a cowardly way to discredit someone without a need to engage.
  4. Thank you! The thing about the Jump Pack effect is that you really don't need an embedded power (e.g. Translocation) unless you're concerned it's just too good to always be available. It's not like Fly where it can be obnoxious just to leave on -- you continually have the choice to "opt in" by jumping. As for it being always available... I figure you spent a lot of powers to get here, though it's true one of those powers is Hasten. We have to be very careful as we transition from Whirlwind to just Wind. We wouldn't want to break ... wind... But as far as thematics goes, this obviously needs no justification to people like me who prescribe to the notion that a power is just a mechanical effect for me to paint my own fiction on. If you are NOT in that camp, there are still 2 justifications for adding it: a) you already stop spinning while performing most actions, until the spin reasserts itself. So no one has a logical leg to stand on if they declare "it represents spinning, so you must spin!" b) car wheels. They spin so fast they often don't seem to be moving at all. This actually more accurately represents the fiction a lot of us are going for anyway, so I feel this is an addition that fits. CoH VR is going to be so sick. I'll be in the corner reenacting that time I got rezzed by a Poison Support.
  5. When used as a rez, I would strongly suggest targeting an ally instead. It should still sap-and-nap any enemies in range but guarantee the rez. EA as a whole: In practice, it really is just too clicky. Like you said, it starts to feel like an attack chain, but for buffs. In addition to longer and normalized buff durations, there's another minor issue I'd like to see addressed: Empowered Circuit's decaying power strength. Even if I hit my whole party with a single cast, I'm aware that everyone has differing buff strengths, which makes me want to recast on a new ally when it's up again. What I would love to see is a check when the buff is refreshed: if they already have the buff, set potency to base version instead of decayed version. That would be enough that I could count on buffing my party twice to get them to full strength. Call it a Dynamo effect, or revving up.
  6. I always think it's weird that Poison's interesting schtick was added post-launch (the splashing). Poison, I agree with what we've seen in other threads - splash more of the powers, increase splash radius. I'd add 2 more: better vfx for enemies splashed, increased potency and recharge on the heal. A lot of folks want to see it sped up, but I'd rather just use it less often. Probably make it a HoT in 3 big chunks (and maybe just the first big chunk to splashed allies). This is actually a really interesting idea. Iirc, original devs said they couldn't damage reflect, but this seems feasible if paired with some method of first tagging an enemy with a "mark" debuff. Such as from one of those redundant kb toggles. And/or Force bolt. My only concern would be exploits. Depending on the specifics of how damage gets split, testing would be needed to ensure you couldn't use this to trash GMs. Additional FF thoughts: I like the +absorb but don't want to see the set go all in on it. I wouldn't mind seeing some ally +damage. think it's easy to forget that FF is really good for the +defense for most of the game. So the best buffs to it are probably the kinds that aren't strong enough to be noticeable until late game. Whatever that looks like.
  7. One of the principals I struggle to convey on these forums the most is the concept of "changes that enable changes." Example: kneecapping double rage leaves you with an underperforming set. It's true, but it's a workable problem. If the current incarnation is completely un-tune-able, you would want to fix that first and then be left with a relatively simple balance pass on the rest of the set. When you take the hammer to it, you have to expect some cleanup and repairs are in your future.
  8. Moderate levels of agreement there on both fronts. There are no effects I know of that specify "when you take aggressive action" so not sure it's possible. As for power pool reqs... I said I would consider but I probably should have said I "would hear the case for." I'm not strongly in favor of it.
  9. I kind of skimmed through most of this. Apologies for all the nuance missed. About Afterburner itself, I rather like how it is but I will acknowledge it's unwieldy to use. For a long while I was enjoying using it to break the alpha or for herding on a /Regen toon. It's a big big chunk of defense. Things I would consider changing: 1) it would certainly feel better if it required one power instead of 2. 2) I'm not sold on it, but perhaps it would be more usable if the defense bonus suppressed when you attacked, instead of Only Affects Self. And against my better judgement, I feel the need to once again stir up shit: Most of the same voices saying "fix your build" can probably be found elsewhere protecting people's rights to build how they want and bragging how this game tends to work regardless of build. It feels like a politician pivot: "I am not interested in fixing a thing but that would sound subjective so let's see if I can blame you instead."
  10. Just don't suggest having the mu power tree on a character that doesn't want a brain-washed, secret agent, or double cross episode. You'll then get a completely opposite argument about why people don't want this.
  11. The t2 seems a little out of place with other t2s. I'd probably move that ability down and get rid of the t8 (the set already has Burst of Speed). I realize it's immature to fixate on autocorrect typos, but this brought me great joy.
  12. To my knowledge, every person I've ever seen mention using Whirlwind had done so in spite of the power itself. I humbly submit some suggestions, listed from most important (to me) to least, categorized. #1 - QoL: Please fade out the audio once the power has been activated for a few seconds, or at least fade it down to a very-low volume. #2 - Customization: Please add a "no spin" option. The Venn Diagram of "people who want a windstorm around themselves" and "people who want Adam West-style spinning characters" is extremely small. I, personally, will never ever have a use for this power as long as I spin. Anecdotally, I can tell you 4 players who would love this. #3 - Gameplay: Consider adding a Jump Pack effect to Whirlwind, or a similar "vertical" travel utility. I know people have asked for vertical on Super Speed for years, and Speed of Sound already has a solution. But I feel this would be a good way to keep Super Speed pure, yet allow people already invested in that pool to get a fun little side benefit from Whirlwind. Whether you're helicoptering yourself up or using your Djinni Wind powers - it feels like a good thematic fit. Thank you and good day.
  13. @Darkneblade @ImpousVileTerror The Absorb is neat, but I still think slapping in a minor +max HP is easier and... It's just not a power that needs to be fancy. Also a click component would be kind of counter to the primary fiction. @Naraka That would be pretty awesome. Even Mag 2 would make Acrobatics and Defiant Barrage (mez protection ATO) more appealing.
  14. Thanks for the bump! I can see that. I obviously don't have a problem with going all-in with Propel. What I like about your suggested list here, is that I could still build a propel-only character, which I think is important for concepts like Gambit or Green Lantern. Yeah! I thought about this problem. I feel like this would be mostly circumvented if there are 2 random rolls per execution: First roll: determine additional damage type. This determines which limited pool of items can be spawned. Second roll: determine actual object (this occurs on the client, which is why it's different for everyone). This means, for example, I might see a gas grill explode while you see a motorcycle. But we're at least both consistently seeing items from the "fire damage" table.
  15. Maybe the game uses server caching of some sort? They do weekly downtime, a lot of which seems to simply be Microsoft updates and such. Maybe that causes a small delay when clients connect to a freshly relaunched server. Well, there goes my appetite.
  16. I also think it's wrong to be misogynistic, and I think it's wrong to steal while I'm at it. But go ahead, ignore that human morality is nuanced and driven by zeitgeist. Pretend you've never heard of drawing a line in the sand. EDIT: I think I need to be more clear: I declared I have morals and things I find unacceptable. I just don't think pushing people around qualifies. Your retort reads as "you are a hypocrite because you have morals." Nonsense.
  17. Equally valid statements: Quoting my posts without my consent is creepy and wrong wherever it occurs. Dropping a level 50 enhancement on my level 1 character without my consent is creepy and wrong wherever it occurs. Using the toy bat power on my character without my consent is creepy and wrong wherever it occurs. Stop trying to declare everything you cannot control is evil. Note: I would never defend following people around to make them uncomfortable, let alone inappropriate messages or emotes. But literally pushing a character around? There are so many more qualified uses for your entitled outrage. I suggest the news.
  18. The ones I don't recognize. Blyde Square, Atlas Plaza - they were burned in my memory for 10 years of not even playing. But the random music bit from Brickstown I have no recollection of? It's maybe a cop-out of an answer, but I think it's the things I could have lost forever and not even known about that I try to soak in, these days.
  19. The 5%/95% thresholds are old school and outdated. They were tuned for PnP games where combat is typically resolved within about 15 dice rolls tops. A standard CoH combat sees at least 25 dice rolls per second. It will just always feel worse by volume, and at the same time less impactful than it does in a tabletop game. But I have a different beef with Accuracy: it's boring. It's a tax to itemize against (Enhancements). If the sky were the limit, I'd buff everyone's base ToHit chance. Maybe combine accuracy and end mod enhancements, or something.
  20. I find it weird that people here think the "nudgers" have "problems." They just think it's funny. I've only been nudged once, and it was by someone amused I basically had a male version of their character. Kind of a literal nudge nudge wink wink.
  21. You're right about different ATs wanting different things out of their t9s. You know who else mentioned that? The OP. But the fact is, that's our status quo now. Ice Armor is the only snowflake in the bunch that gets specific AT treatment. So if you want to say "it's important to me that any t9 overhaul uses the opportunity to diversify melee ATs," that is a fine goal. If you say "it's a dumb idea because it failed to meet this criteria of AT differentiation" then you are simply wrong. The precedent has been set time and time again to make powers perform identically across ATs. Unstoppable is more or less the same no matter which AT uses it. Same with Build Up. Same with Ball Lightning. Those "ideas guys" you're so terrified made this game, you know. Numbers in a vacuum are worthless if you can't see the bigger picture. That's why the idea guys create design guides. You do this thing where you word your posts as contrarian when your point isn't at all in opposition to me. They're all very personalized and that's exactly the point. They're unique and interesting and not at all random and yet they are all clearly "Sustains." They all follow a design paradigm where on a high level, @America's Angel's "idea people" said they want all Blasters to have what Drain Psyche has, but to make sure it doesn't let them turn into tanks. Then the number people got into the weeds with the details and made really cool example powers. @Nanolathe has simply suggested a similar paradigm for t9 armors: "Make these controlled crashes."
  22. Just reverse the order of tiers 3-9. Leave the 1st 2 powers the same. Gives you a nice contrast between your daily drivers - your "auto attacks" and such - and your big powerful moments. But still fix the t9 armor powers. They aren't worth it at 32; they aren't worth it at 4.
  23. So, like, a big swoosh appears over your head? Regeneration upgrades Integration to Brand Integration? 😅 But in all seriousness, I would be ok with remaking them as auto triggers, but I'd rather have more mega mode than a nuke (or a Nike). And I feel like it would be an even bigger cottage upheaval than the OP.
  24. I don't think I'd go so drastic with these numbers, at least the aoe hold and hibernate recharges... not right away, anyway. I'd rather see the AoE holds hit 150-180s with some other improvements. Frequent enough that I won't ever feel like I wasted it, but not so often that I can count on it every fight. While the Accuracy penalty sucks, I'm coming to realize it helps justify additional slotting on them, so I'm starting to think I'd prefer additional mag on them. I think they're changing the landscape so those conversations are more palatable.
