  1. Nice 60+ year old examples. Now tell me some stories about Jefferson Davis.
  2. I'm sorry, but if the line is that close - 99% identical look, extremely similar name, same powers, almost identical bio, then the line might as well not exist at all, because then all of these would be fine, and I think these are the types of things people are saying will "Get us sued by Disney and WB":
  3. IDK why people even pretend this is an issue. There's a certain character named (Synonym for "Super") Man, with a Superman costume (Except for a different chest emblem), SS/Invuln/Flight/Laser Beam Eyes. His Bio is literally Superman's Bio just without specific words (Krypton, Daily Planet, etc.) and I've seen this person stand right in front of GM's multiple times at Hami raids. If you can make a character that close and it doesn't get made generic then anything except using the EXACT name and costume of a character shouldn't be an issue, and I think most of those exact names are filtered out.
  4. There are servers besides HC that operate by the old rules. They might not get more than 50 players or so at their peak times, but they do exist.
  5. I've got Heather Townshend down to 10 - 12 minutes (Depending on which map I get in mission 1 and where certain glowies are in mission 3) I think my best time was like 9:15 once. But 5 - 6 rolls an hour really can't be beat, as long as you can put up with the repetition.
  6. Don't knock SPAM, it's got its own key.
  7. Even the servers that have the pet customization options haven't solved the issue of the pet upgrades adding auras/costume parts to the characters. At least one of those devs I talked to said that it was possible just a lot of work to even just making the parts/auras invisible. So even on those servers, if you reskin your Thugs to police officers, they'll still get the bandannas, leather jackets, etc. when you upgrade them. Even just making the parts invisible would be work, and of course then that would take the parts away from the people who wanted to use them on the regular pets - so then you need to make the invisible parts option a new power, and make sure it's mutually exclusive with the regular upgrade powers... Basically there area lot more variables involved than just making the base pets editable with the costume designer.
  8. IMO Time will satisfy your recharge needs with its final power, Chrono Shift. It's an AoE +Recharge, +Rech, Heal, +End , Healing over Time, +Recovery. The Healing and End are instant, the HoT, +Rec only last 30 seconds, but the +Rech is +50% and lasts 1:30. Combined with Hasten and slotting for recharge, it will be perma. On my Ill/Time, who is slotted heavily for recharge, I have 245% global recharge at all times. With Ageless (Incarnate power) it's between 285% and 255%. At that much recharge, you can even get a power like Burnout to be up on a reasonably regular basis. A couple of other good things about time is that its got a -Rech/Hold patch and a PBAOE -Speed/-To Hit/-Damage Toggle so whatever you're pulling to you will be stuck in those effects. The -To Hit is nice, because Time also has Farsight, which adds about 15% global defense (26% with Power Build Up) which means all that stuff you're pulling to you will likely get off one attack, which will miss, then either stand there waiting for attacks to recharge or attempt to move out of the patches, which they'll be doing at -128% run speed, so they won't really be going anywhere before they're dead. The targeted AoE hold patch and the additional ST hold Time has will also stack with your holds from your primary, meaning you can stack some pretty high mag holds on targets. If you go into Primal Forces APP for Power Build Up, You'll be able to AoE Hold almost everything you come across, and ST Hold about anything that isn't effectively immune to holds. The only down sides to time for me are the fact that you have to use Time Crawl to apply the Delayed effect to get the most out of certain powers on single targets, it's +Damage buff is ST rather than AoE, and its AoE -Def/-Res power comes relatively late, at 28.
  9. Axe Cyclone's radius is very small, you're only going to be sucking in mobs that are relatively close, unlike the other abilities which will give you much more distance. I have both Fold Space and Axe Cyclone on my tanker, functionally they're different powers and useful in different situations.
  10. Teleport pool has Fold Space which brings enemies to you, Gravity Control has Wormhole which lets you move a group of enemies.
  11. Sleep is the worst control power in the game. The only decent sleep powers are the ones that do something else, like massive damage or big end drains. Could you at least add a -rech component to these attacks to make them something other than a set mule at best? Even better, change the sleep mechanic completely and make it a percentage chance for the mob to awaken. Say whatever percent of the power's duration is the chance that it will awaken with damage - like if 90% of the sleep time is remaining, then there's a 90% chance it will stay asleep. Overall this set reminds me of Seismic or Storm blast or Symphony control - interesting ideas, but so far outside of the meta that you'll almost never see one over level 20.
  12. Masterminds are already at a gross disadvantage in everything but solo play at low levels. In every other scenario they are far less powerful and more difficult to play than any other AT. If you aren't going to fix the problems with pets scaling vs +X enemies, pet pathing in fast play, and general survivability in groups, then you could at LEAST let them keep the few benefits they do get, like the Defender value for Cold Domination.
  13. Problem is, it's not a "Form your own groups or don't do the content" issue. It's "Form your own group or move to where the leaders already are." issue. And if one thing's been clear since 2004, it's that most people simply will not lead groups, they just won't. I've run tons of these things myself, but the fact is that the ratio of people even willing to lead groups vs those not so inclines is like 100:1. People will simply move to where the leaders are. Ex was getting borderline unplayable at times before the announcement, and I don't imagine this will improve. Once the XP increase stops or people feel they have enough 50s people will migrate to Ex en masse and the server will collapse under the strain. All people have to do is log into the servers and watch the LFG for 10 minutes to know where the people are forming groups are at, and the vast, vast majority of people would rather switch than move out of their comfort zones and lead.
  14. I guess they think enough load is being taken off of Excelsior, but the XP isn't really going to solve the issue, because it's about the community and not the XP. Sure, some farmers may hop around, but the real issue is that the type of people that really enjoy leading group content already migrated to Excelsior long ago and aren't likely to move. While I'm sure I didn't see everything, playing for the last week on TB I've seen so much less activity (other than DFB's) compared to Ex. I rarely saw farms advertised, saw exactly 1 MSR, saw a moderate number of Synapses last week, but last night saw only a couple of ITF's, and rarely saw any other TF's besides some Posi 1 and 2's. And I saw maybe two ITF's last night ...pretty bad for it being the first day of the new WST. While people may be on the servers, the community of people to lead events just isn't there, and in the long term, more and more people are going to want to move to Ex because they want to do group content but don't want to lead, and Ex is going to end up unplayable. They should probably pull the plug on server transfers, and maybe figure out a way to incentivize leading group content before they have no choice but to forcible split Excelsior into two different servers.
  15. Except that it's not about upping those populations - Jimmy just posted this - it's about driving Excelsior's numbers down. Kind of the exact opposite of the "It was a multiplayer game so everyone must group all of time and constantly do group-only content" mindset that seems to drive this idea that you can't have servers with smaller populations than Excelsior. So many changes have been made to the game to make soloing and having a low population easier that the fact that this was originally an MMO is completely irrelevant. In fact there are multiple servers out there that aren't homecoming that might get 50 players logged in on a good day, and they've been plugging right along with regular development for years..
  16. What does "under-performing" even mean on a free to play game? For all you know, the people on those "under-performing" servers are a significant percentage of the donators and are keeping the lights on. Just because a server has a high population, it doesn't mean that those people are paying the bills.
  17. All of the new stuff has been utter garbage, there's a reason not even Netflix would keep the show going.
  18. Free Snotman! (If you get that, you get special gold star on your Superhero Fan card.)
  19. Regardless of subjective opinion, it was the "most important movie since Endgame" according to Feige, and it bombed hard, had mixed reviews at best, and the actor of the BBEG that it was setting up is getting his whole career cancelled. So you may like it as a film, or you may not, but it's pretty clear Marvel is going to have to do some retooling and probably some kind of soft relaunch of their next phase.
  20. Honestly, I don't even take powers like ID...just carry a break free. If I was playing on a server with a lower power level....well, I still wouldn't take those powers because there's no one on those servers to team with.
  21. He's raving on the inside.
  22. Also having hopped around and tried some other servers recently to see what they're doing (Some of it is cool, some of it sucks and some of it is straight up insane) I can say, if I'm reading the graphs right, that pretty much every other free server struggles to even reach 50 players at their peak times, so even though Torch, Indom and Reunion are extremely low, their populations are probably as much or more than any other CoH server out there. Ev and Ex dwarf all of them combined by orders of magnitude, obviously. I say this not to create server drama, but to point out to anyone that thinks those three servers should be axed and incorporated into the other two, that there are numerous people happily playing away on servers with that population size or smaller.
  23. What's wrong, did your ambiguously disabled henchman eat your spider pet?
