  1. That is a pro-tip. Just did this, and I love it! +1 Inf
  2. Agreed, but I often can’t finish one story arc (much less several) without leveling too quick. Regardless, it would be nice to support all 3 playstyles - 1.) Want to level quick, go get an XP boost and farm/DFB like crazy 2.) Want to level normal - well then away you go, you are all set. 3.) Want to level slower? Turn off XP (wait a sec, that’s not leveling at all)
  3. Lately I've been seeing threads along the lines of "If you're experiencing problem X, click here". IDK which subforum they've been in as I've been clicking the "show unread" when I read daily. That's a good point - they have been really good about engaging on defects/issues with the installation process...that's where you are seeing the stickies...Love to see that replicated on the bug side
  4. As always, a class act Healix...+1 Inf
  5. Why would “they” need to do that? And who is they? Seriously, just asking
  6. Love this post, +1 inf. There really is a lot of redundancy, and it is one of the great joys of this game to land on a team that values team interactions more than smashing pixels. Smashing pixels is fun, but it lacks that special spark of humanity that a team has.
  7. You may have done this, but this the #1 reason people have login issues Your forum password and account name are not the same as the game account. You have to go here to create a game account - https://forums.homecomingservers.com/account/
  8. Quote the post in which I accused anyone of being lazy. post: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5427.msg43849.html#msg43849 Leogunner - this is a lost cause. I’ve ignored the poster, because despite multiple attempts at having a meaningful conversation, I was insulted at every turn You can pursue it of course, but if you are sincerely trying to sway her, it won’t happen.
  9. There is no such place...only zones that underwent a significant overhaul or were sunset have echo zones. On Vidiotmaps badge 8 is Unsubtle - here’s the details to find it: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Unsubtle_Badge
  10. My hope would be that HC could source new game content and story arcs from MA. I need to go and check it out. We do need to better spotlight as a community the great work that you guys do there. I know i’ve seen posts in the MA forum, but I don’t drill in and read them. Great callout Zaphir
  11. It does not Pax, it works the opposite. Get at 50% XP boost, get 50% reduction in Inf. And the exemplar option for no XP and double inf is exactly that, only for examplaring, which doesn’t help you for your own content, just others. However I am definitely a +1 for what you suggest to become a reality. I wouldn’t mine getting Inf boosters that cut my XP. Because otherwise my alternatives are - 1.) Reduce difficulty and lose any sense of challenge 2.) Outlevel Content. Yes, there is Flashback, but it would be nice to be able finish a story arc and missions that I currently have without getting too high a level for the content. 3.) Play the same content as everyone else but with half the rewards by turning off XP
  12. Asking me to answer a question before you'll give me an answer is didactic. Being didactic is insulting. It's very definition is being condescending. Calling me pedantic is insulting. Calling someone lazy is insulting. And I am the same real person using this screen name in the other thread we've been going back and forth. Honesty would be nice. Calling me dishonest Here's one where you have a trifecta - calling myself among others demanding, narcissistic, and lazy. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5427.msg43966.html#msg43966 Clearly at this point you have no intent at a grown up conversation. I'm going to put you on my ignore list, and you are going to post something here that will make you feel vindicated, because getting the last word is what'll make you happy. So please enjoy your "victory lap" over the evils of polite posting, because if you get the last word, then clearly you are right, even if no effort was made to communicate in a mode all can understand. I've not used any labels to describe you, so go ahead and fuel your "righteous indignation" by some other means...
  13. I am sincere in wanting to understand what posters are saying. I assume you are more than just a screen name, that you are a real person, with real feelings, and that you, like me, wish to contribute positively to the conversation and foster a sense of community These are actual non-trivial efforts on my part to turn the conversation into a more polite area. I assure it will be my last if rebuffed If you want to be understood, then please post and do so. If your goal is to continue to be insulting or didactic , I suppose I can’t stop you, but I feel comfortable assuming it would be a poor look for you. If you want to continue down the insult path, then I apologize for making the mistake of assuming you wanted to be understood. See it can be dangerous to assume other’s intent.
  14. If asking for civility in discussion and clarity of meaning is nitpicking, then yes, I am captain nitpick. You do realize we are real people here and deserve some basic decency in conversation. So far you have managed to explicitly call people demanding and narcissistic, and implicitly called them lazy. So if a modicum of politeness is a barrier to you in conversation and you only wish to be adversarial, then you define yourself as a troll. If it is not a barrier, and you wish to engage with other humans in a cooperative manner, then let’s discuss. The choice is yours...
  15. I have no interest in nitpicking...but as stated we don’t have teacher/student relationship where I am willing to be led along didactically. I’m always willing to learn...so if you have truth, speak it. If you wish to assume that I desire to pick on you, I can’t stop it, but the danger in assuming things is that you are often wrong. Finally, if you feel afraid that your point will be nitpicked publicly, you are welcome to PM it to me and it can remain between us...
  16. Well, I am not your student, and you are not my teacher...so if you are uncomfortable making a point that is clear and doesn't need to be didactic in nature, then so be it...
  17. I think the people behind Homecoming aren't doing this for "us" in the first place. They are doing this for their love of the game. SCoRE spent 6 years updating the game on a secret server because they love the game. Homecoming came out of that and wanted the game to be big again, like it used to be, because, it's fun for them. This is a hobby for them. I agree that the Homecoming team are volunteers who are doing this out of their own time, and we should be grateful, but it's not like they are doing this because they take pity on us. We aren't some social cause that needs looking after...We are now part of their community. We are giving money to make this work. People from this community are donating their time to helping out. HC put up these forums as part of that community interaction. They put up a bug board and suggestion board. They've been good hosts and are asking to converse with their guests. I'm a pretty good lurker on these forums, and I haven't seen a lot of demanding of HC. In fact, while some posts may sound like it, most of the conversations within are always with a pretty grateful lens. We can be very demanding of each other on these forums, but that's to be expected, and not the same as being demanding of our hosts... Now I agree that they shouldn't put up a roadmap of changes they are making (and said so as much), but it would be nice if there was confirmation of a bug from their end, so that we don't have to spend as much time rehashing them over and over...I am demanding it? No But I think you aren't giving this community enough credit for our level of gratitude. As an example, I leave you with this - Say a thanks? Share a memory!
  18. I don't understand the point of that though...is there a point you are making? If not, fine. If so, it's completely unclear to me...
  19. I;m really sorry EggKooKoo, I was excited about brainstorming with you and others on this. It's a shame that before that could happen in these forums any and all ideas have been shot down before having the chance to be fleshed out. It's surprises me, because most posters love to try and help each other out. BlindGirl - I'm not sure who upset you here, but nobody is demanding anything. This was a brainstorming idea. It's OK to be down on the idea, but don't impute feelings or attitudes to people that just aren't there. As for myself - it's not narcissism that drives my conversation, but the joy of discussing a new idea. There are lots of great points to be made here about the value of new content to others, and you are certainly right that new origin specific missions could be content that no one wants and therefore no one should develop. So far I think we've heard from what, 8 people? And those voices are pretty split, so it's hardly time yet to call a definitive end to the discussion yet. It is a suggestion that involves quintupling the workload for all new content generated under the paradigm, made by people who do not expect to have to do any of that work. Your excuses do not change the work required nor do they broaden the audience for it. Either you plan to do the work yourself or your suggestion is bad. All suggestions on these forums involve work for somebody. And any attempt to make the connection that unless you can do the work, don't mention the problem/suggestion is farcical. Most problems in our lives are outsourced to someone else to do the work. In many cases that means you have to pay for someone else to do the work. But that's what EggKooKoo said - many of us are giving money to HC. Please don't demean his gift (or mine) to helping out by saying we are doing nothing for the cause. HC put up these forums (and the suggestions and feedback board) so we can make suggestions. Suggestions should first be discussed for the merits involved, and then if someone (Dev's or another poster) finds value in those suggestions they can take up the work. If no one finds value, then the suggestion dies and life goes on. ------------------------------------------------ TL;DR - Again, it feels like someone has upset you here, if so, I suggest you be specific who you are talking to and what the behavior was that upset you. Take it to a PM if needed. But please, don't paint people who make suggestions of any kind as "demanding","narcissistic" or lazy. It's counterproductive to these discussions, to the forums, and to the community.
  20. Skyeye - this post, is the most meaningful post on these entire forums (as far as I am concerned). There are truly bigger problems in life than anything in CoH...and you are a Superhero for sharing your story with such honesty, grace and humor. I chuckled and wiped tears away as I read it. Thank you sharing it. I am glad you are surrounded by those who love, and that you have kept your humor despite such trying times. I love that you are still sharing your message of courtesy here on these forums. Hopefully we will play together one day, but regardless my hopes and prayers continue to go out to you and your family
  21. I'm truly sorry to do this 2 posts in a row (being sincere here), but I don't understand your point here. I mean the words and sentences make sense, but I’m not getting the point.
  22. I don't write my bios for anyone to critique. I don't make my costume to please others. I don't select my powers for another's amusement. I hope I’m clear - I really respect your gift/talent/craft at role playing. I love that you are so steeped in the Lore. I bought both CoH novels, read all the Lore AMA, and collected all the comics, but I definitely don't have your gift. Regardless though, I am not playing this game for anyone's approval. I play to have fun. I play because being a superhero makes me smile, and I love writing stories for my heroes. If you feel you must critique me, then please, have the courtesy to get to know me as a player. Run a couple of missions with me, humor my pathetic role play attempts, lower yourself to my level so that I have sense of what value your judgment brings. Then if you have a helpful word to share, I'll listen. But if you are making value judgments on my worth as a player based on my bio and not spending some time getting to know me, then I'll pass on the comraderie, because we really aren't comrades in arms then.
  23. It's impossible to be locked out of any of the current powers or badges. I think there are some single-merit arcs that may be inaccessible for e.g. non-Praetorian starts, but nothing more substantial. I get that, but if there were 5 different story arcs, and each one had an equivalent power and badge and merits, then I don't see the issue. Maybe the powers could be also bought at the P2W vendor, but become more powerful if you do the origin story arc...No different than Nemesis Staff or Blackwand - you can't use both equally well And completion of any of the 5 arcs could give the same badge, so there would be a badge for doing the content. And if the merits are balanced the same, then no one is denied their fair share...
