  1. Is this just the same as Blackwand or Nemesis Staff, but suggesting we need more items like them? I'm a little lost here...
  2. I originally voted with Adeon's suggestion (if everyone has the badge it skips), but as I read this, I'm thinking that there are going to be segments of the population who are going to want to rewatch them (RP'ers). And the most egalitarian solution, where nobody ever get's left out or shamed is to just show them... (TF Forming, LF5M, do not send tell unless you already have the badge...)
  3. Have them point out actual, demonstrable "harm" being inflicted. Not just a modified version of "I don't like it." Because people today are entirely too quick to conflate anything they dislike with "harm". And it's known that whingeing LOUDLY and incessantly about it is a generally reliable way of haranguing someone into doing what you want them to do. It's true - It's hard to have real harm in this game. I suppose you could get to the level of harassment from someone sending nasty or repeated unwanted tells. Or someone being a complete a$$hat in the in-game Help. But apart from that - there are just levels of fun...Some things can become more fun, some things can be less fun. It always cracks me up when people say that "if X happens I am leaving the game"...and yet, here many of them still are even after X happened. I do understand that the DFB posts in LFG do drown out some of the other requests for teaming...but it's not impossible regardless, and we shouldn't be pushing DFB elsewhere, because those users too are LFG. Besides the rewards were nerfed and the chat has lessened to a degree, so it is as good as it is going to get. And still miles better than the desperate plea's for PL'ing we've seen before in Live...
  4. I, too, love to enforce censorship upon things that hurt nobody yet I personally dislike. Yes, many of your posts reinforce that...
  5. This my whole issue...there needs to be some effort required to level up, whether it's an Inf sink, PL'ing, Farming, Multiboxing, or whatever. There are game mechanics and they should mean something...If we let people bypass these game mechanics than we are going to lose people in this game. If the entire universe of players in CoH was just PL'ers and guys like me who like to go slow, I wouldn't care at all how you get to 50. Heck, you could have a slash command to do it for free for all I care. A PL'er is never going to team with me at lower levels...I get that. But...that is not the whole universe of CoH players...there are people who for whatever reason do not PL/Farm/Multibox what have you. They want to level quickly but don't have the knowledge/skill/hardware to effectively do it. Or, for many of them, it just seems wrong to do for them personally. It feels like a cheat. (Again, I'm not saying you are wrong for doing it. I'm not saying those players are wrong for doing it or not doing it...just saying they don't). But if you give those players an in-game option to just buy their way to 50, they will use it. It requires no skill or effort. It's endorsed by the HC team (they put the option there). It's now part of the game. And players who are NOT PL'ers will start skipping lower content in droves...That's BAD I'm not sold on 1.5 Billion as the price point...it can 1 Billion...It can be 500 Million. There are several guides in the forums on how to do that in a very short time...But it still requires effort/skill/knowledge, and that means it won't be used by everyone... We haven't had population load issues for some time. Servers are stable and I haven't seen queue's in a long time...We can handle the PL'ers. And Multiboxing is a workaround to leveling. It is most certainly NOT the game design. So it's not a "right" that players have, it's a privilege that some players have because they have the skill/hardware/knowledge to do it. How would it not be? I have a level 50...And I don't agree...And there are several posts on this form from many other level 50's to that extent...
  6. Maybe a stupid question, how is what you mention above done? Who you talk to depends on if you're a Hero or a Villain. But there's an NPC you talk to, that adjusts your Notoriety. You can set it so that Door Missions spawn as if you level was -1 to +4 compared to what you actually are, and so that the minimum team size is anywhere from just you (x1) up to a full eight members (x8). Two people, same mission; one is at -1/x0 - most of the enemies will con Blue, some White, and an occasional Lieutenant might be Yellow. The other is at +4/x8. EVERYTHING IS RED AND PURPLE, and there's six or more times as many of those things. :) You don’t even need to see a NPC. In you chat bar, where you type is a little chat icon. Press the icon and you get the Notoriety menu You can set the mob size You can set the difficulty level of mobs Whether you want to face bosses or not whether you want to face AV’s in missions at an AV level or Elite Boss
  7. I love this as well... +1 inf for the time you’ve taken to present the intent of the set as well as carefully present the powers
  8. I like it, especially the Cavern. Be a great way to encourage people to run that trial. You can’t do DFB because you would have Hydra’s in Atlas continuously.
  9. I say this without insult, but it’s hysterical we are still talking about “how to do” something that no one wants done.
  10. So 1.5billion to insta-level a character? That would make a nice inf sink. Please add an option to buy merits in bulk though, I think clicking the buy merits button 1500 times would take longer than just leveling them. If it was an influence sink along the level of 1.5 billion influence per token, I’d be +1 with this. It still requires effort and keeps people in the game, and it wouldn’t be a “gimme” for most players
  11. Always suggested it be temporary...we are on the same wavelength...
  12. An interesting idea...If it's easy enough to do, just make the teaming bonus bigger (there is already an XP boost for teaming). I like that So I come back - how does that hurt anyone? Not everyone is going to behave like this...Some people won't go regardless...Some people will go and exploit...Some people will go and have fun and then switch back...And some people will stay. If even 2% of the Hero population continues to play redside, that's a 10% gain for redside content. And even if it fails completely, you haven't spent massive amount of development time failing. The solution is targeted and temporary... I think we are painting this as an all or nothing solution. Unless EVERYBODY goes over to the redside, this doesn't work. Unless EVERYBODY who goes over teams up with someone, this doesn't work. Unless EVERYBODY who switches doesn't stay afterwards, it doesn't work. We aren't trying to get parity between Blue and Red...We just need SOME people to stick around afterwards...those people who have never played redside before, because your first character is a Hero (typically), and then you just stick with what you know. Or those people who feel that NO ONE is on redside, so why bother, or those people who remember fondly playing redside, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Like I said, a 2% switch from blue to red is a 10% win for redside... So it's not a perfect solution...just a nudge for a small part of the population...But it's a low cost nudge and it's a low risk nudge. Additional content is great, but that's a high risk move. No doubt the redside population will love it, but if that truly fails to move the needle, that's a lot of effort wasted. Now I also think, it would be great to have an unofficial redside server...It would be great to have a forum for redside...these are even lower cost moves. It would be great if the truly passionate redsiders who have the skills contributed to making redside content...
  13. There are 196 countries on Earth, where are these other 300+ countries? The vast empire that was known as Hoot-Hoot was recently split up into several smaller nations. Plus the Rogue Isles. Several of the dimensions that Portal Corp discovered have been petitioning the Primal earth for sovereign recognition as well... And plus rounding...lots and lots of rounding
  14. I think that was only during May, unless it's been changed...
  15. There is a difference between an auto-token and PL'ing. One requires effort and intentional, and the other does not. If you come to CoH to farm, powerlevel, or multibox, you will or already have invested in understanding how that works, understand the basic mechanics of it, and still put in the modicum of effort to do so. Because it requires effort/knowledge/skill, it will not always be attractive to other players. Other players will not be aware of it and hence will not participate. These players will play their way up (ohh...the horrors), and team up along the way with other non-50 players to get there. Now an auto-token means that these players will now have an option, fully endorsed by the game, and much more discoverable to bypass the 1-50 lvl content. Those players who aren't farmers or PL'ers will take the opportunity to bypass the lower levels, because why else would the game have a auto-level 50 unless that's where all the action is. Suddenly the lower level content is seen as only a grind by a larger and larger population of people, and people who do enjoy working our way up are left with a shrinking base of players to team with. Now, I know I'm going to get some feedback, so I'll be clear on 2 things... 1.) I have no problem with farming or PL'ing. I don't participate, but it doesn't bother me that someone else can level faster. I'm not advocating removing/reducing rewards for farming or for running DFB. I'm not advocating for mechanics to be built in the game to stop PL'ing... 2.) Yes, it is true, that a PL'er can already go from 1 to 50 in a day or less. It's true that 90% of these players are never going to grind their way through the content. But it would be false to say that the only people who would use an auto-token are those PL'ers.
  16. They did have a boost at the start, I thought that was removed on the move to Canada. It was - the XP rates are only boosted using the XP boosts from the P2W vendor...
  17. True enough. This is why I tend to stay out of the build discussions...However I stand by Force Bolt not being totally useless...
  18. I'm a sucker for a well defined powerset +1
  19. That's right Dungeoness...If you create a Macro - /macro SCN "target_custom_next bone" Then you will have a button on your power bar that will only target objects with Bone in the name, like "Bone Daddy". Or you could do it as a bind, and have a keyboard button that will do it /bind G "target_custom_next wolf" and everytime you press G, it will only target objects with Wolf in the name, like a "Nightwolf"
  20. That's a unique suggestion on how to improve these powers...You are still burning a slot for a full travel power, but can use the animations you want. I like it!
  21. Oh hardly...It deals minor damage, and I said that all along...Just saying that it does any damage is rare among support sets, and the fact that it is fast recharge, is as good as many of the primary sets that scrappers/blasters have at lvl 1/2 (Minor Damage/Fast Recharge). So it does great damage, for a support set...that's all...I realize it's not saying a lot...
  22. k That is a temporary fix at best. Players jump on redside, level up faster if that it the goal, and then jump to blueside. This isn't only for toons rolled on redside from the start, but some people will just flip their heroes, get to cap, and then flip back. Players that did not want double XP, and I would count myself among that group, wouldn't not only not care, but may actively avoid the faction(s) in question because they just want to play and enjoy the story as they go without having to figure out when they need to turn off XP gain so as not to out-level some content. I won't claim to have any answers here, but whatever the change it has to be something that will not only get people to play redside, but keep people playing redside. Creating a situation where redside gets a boost for a month and then things return to normal is not a "fix". Trying to achieve perfect parity is folly, but I think that the ideal would be that every player would have toons on both sides and that at any given time at least 25% (but no more than 75% because it goes both ways) of the currently logged-in players are playing redside. But that may be folly, too. Well in it's entire existance, CoV never performed as well as hoped. As you said, nothing is going to being parity to the game. But that's not the request either. The rquest is to have more players to team with. You are righ that a double XP weekend would drive over a lot of people who will just flip back. But if 20% of the heroes flip over for a weekend, and only 10% stay after readng some of the storylines and interacting the Rogue Isles? That's 90 people, and a 10% increase in the server pop. And that's better. Add to that getting a server flagged as he “Unofficial Villain Server”, and a dedicated forum section, that's better. And better is good No solution is going to be perfect, so you figure what can get you the most bang for the least amount of development cost/time. This just feels like that sweet spot in between. It’s not a magic bullet, or a perfect solution, but a start. There would be consequences (players who might want to turn off XP), but that impact would be temporary
