[Forum][Bug] New Threads/Replies
justicebeliever replied to WanderingAries's topic in General Discussion
I have zero idea how this really works, but my best guess is that if you are logged out, that's your "last visit". So you can only see posts since then, Regardless, there is a button that shows at the bottom of the Recent Unread Topics screen that says "All messages". This will show ALL unread messages regardless of time/space/relative dimension... -
PREACH IT, BROTHER! As long as everyone is having fun, doing their level best to play as a team .... eff it, game on, let's go punch/shoot/burn/whatever some badguys until XP falls out of them. Thanks Pax for editing JusticeBowlers quote for me. I’m on my phone and editing sucks. Just want to say +1 JusticeBowler and Pax. I agree 100%.

How does RP affect your character build?
justicebeliever replied to Dynamistress's topic in Roleplaying
For me the concept of the character is what I build the backstory from, the powers from, and the route/way the character is going to level, and how he will RP. All intertwined. Have I skipped useful powers because of it? Yes. About the only area I always try to optimize are enhancements. -

Large companies call these roadmaps. And while a necessary evil for these companies, they are bane of IT departments everywhere. Everyone gets disappointed - people’s whose projects aren’t on the roadmap or are way out there are upset that their stuff isn’t being worked on. People whose stuff is on the list get mad when their stuff is delayed (as is often the case). And when things get reprioritized there is lots of drama about why was X thing moved or changed. If I was volunteering my time and energy as a hobbyist running a private server, I wouldn’t invite that kind of drama on myself. I would be like - “I feel like working on this today, so that’s what I am going to do.” So far HC has actively resisted anything like this that has been proposed... Erydanus - I think you hit it on the head - it would be nice if he Dev’s commented more on the bugs they’ve seen here. It would be nice if there was a stickied list of verified bugs people could scan thru before continually reposting the same bugs over and over again.

They have this functionality already. I’ve seen several in game pop-ups when I log in about server maintenance. They may not be using it consistently, but it’s there.

Leo said that he just enabled the existing EULA code from Live and replaced the Live EULA with the HC one. It would still be a nice change though

Powerset Suggestion:wands and staves and wizard sorcery
justicebeliever replied to Hellfist's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I’m +1 for just this reason alone! Also, your logic is impeccable as always. -
UI improvements for support roles.

This is the only one I am not +1 on. I’d rather have the challenge of not knowing who is targeting me, feels more realistic that way. +1 for the rest -
Revert the Invasion minimum level change

Don’t worry Switchfade, I often wholly misunderstand your posts. Thanks for clarification Erydanus, that’s how I thought I remembered those events happening. -

Expanding Account Bound Unlocks (As a player option)
justicebeliever replied to Marstead's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Well, once you solve them, let me know and we'll change the past. I don't understand how you can think that wealth does and should matter in a social game, but status doesn't or shouldn't -- but even with that perplexity it's not really the point I'm making. The second-most free-form game in the world is a sheet of paper where you can do anything; your rules and challenges are entirely up to you. And yet, very few people consider that game to be very interesting. I think anyone claiming that, here, would certainly be disingenuous. Most players seek the structure of an outside set of rules, rather than choosing to create most of those rules themselves as you propose they do. Jack - with you 100%. Game mechanics exist for a reason. I have no problem with people getting through the mechanics faster than me, but if we allow people to forgo them altogether...not so much. As a product manager I learned a couple of good life lessons: “Data speaks louder than anecdotal” and “Give people the solution they need, not the one they want.” People in the game claim they want to just get to lvl 50, but as soon as that becomes reality and they bypass all the mechanics of getting there (fighting mobs, farming, leveling, earning inf, etc) most of those people will just leave because the games no longer interesting. What was the biggest complaint for years? ED! No wait, it was lack of end game content (and maybe ED). People got bored and left. Game mechanics matter. As for data, the 2 biggest reasons people leave a game: Frustration and Boredom. -
+1 on this btw

The Future - An Open Letter from the Homecoming Team
justicebeliever replied to Jimmy's topic in Announcements
Thank you for the compliment. DFB was already addressed in the last patch, they nerfed the XP. Beyond that there is not much else they can do except remove the content (which seems an extreme overreaction to the “problem”) or remove the XP bonuses in game, which is kinda of their thing, so I don’t see that going anywhere either. As for the Incarnate content - does the difficulty slider not work there? (I really don’t know) Final thought - some of the things you’ve addressed here are solved somewhat in other servers that are doing a more “closer to Live” version of CoX. But be careful what you wish for, because there are several reasons that most people are flocking to HC. Big changes to their model could turn this place into a ghost town and I would rather live with LFG spam for DFB, than having a server where no one is around to team at all -
They have automated bots that communicate on discord, as well as the dev’s. I’m glad they are starting to post here, but announcements would be better

Chat Tab/Communications Configuration

/chat_save Saves a list of chat settings to COH_INSTALL_DIRECTORY\chat.txt /chat_load to load them -
I think so far the official “unofficial” designations have been by playstyle - Roleplay, PVP, been proposed to have an unofficial “villains” server. All these are tied into how you play the game, not who you are. So I think from an official “unofficial” server identity we leave it at that. I think it would smart policy for HC to stay out of this, lest they be accused of playing politics or encouraging bias What you do unofficially unofficially is entirely up to the players.

Begin broken since launch. They know, but since we are moving to new forums, I don’t expect a fix.

In zone long range teleport
justicebeliever replied to CaptainAmazing's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The hard part of this would be that the maps have X\Y coordinates but not Z. They would also have to add some mechanic to make sure you aren’t TP’ing inside a solid model. They game would have to always set the Z axis to be the highest ground for that set of X\Y coordinates. I like it! -
Incentivize playing a villian
justicebeliever replied to krishmero's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Well to be fair, Hero side came out first so of course it started with higher populations. I think we need to be clear on the problem here: is it we need more villains for the sake of have more villains to satisfy some esoteric need for cosmic balance? Or is it to provide a larger population of people in the redside for teaming purposes? I suspect the latter. So if boosting XP rewards causing more people to flock redside just for the XP bonus, then problem solved. It won’t matter why the characters go to the redside, what matters is that they are there and able to be teamed with. It won’t matter if they stay, because their next alt or someone else will come along for the bonus. And the nice thing about an XP boost, is that if it gets out of hand or causes unforeseen consequences, we can just course correct, since it’s just a number and not wasted new content or story arcs. And we need to get over the idea of XP balance. It won’t hurt anyone on the hero side if villains level faster (if anything it’ll alleviate some of the problems that people rail against - less crowding in Atlas Park). Full transparency - there is nothing you can do to get me to set foot on redside. I don’t like the idea of playing a villain, never have. -
I don’t think this was ever a game suggestion, just a request for a resource, if one exists. You nailed it about Vidiotmaps, it’s great but you have to know the right zone to get the right map, and there are nuances that aren’t captured in it, like mobs that are only on rooftops or come out at night. You are right as well that if a resource doesn’t exist, someone (not the devs) should make one who feels really passionate and knowledgeable on the sunniest.

Widower, when you read this, I was joking...no one called me names.

I am practicing and will improve eventually. Until then, no need to call me names.
