  1. Yes, that's going to continue to happen until I start digitally signing the .exe with a code certificate and they build enough "trust" with the AV companies. The code cert was requested a couple of weeks ago but it's still in the process of being issued, since Homecoming LLC is a new entity they are being extra demanding. I wasn't planning to patch until I had a cert, but it's been two weeks already, so unsigned .exe it is.
  2. Yes you can - /powexec_location self power_name This will use your location as the target location
  3. There is an Echo: Faultline zome that was created in this version of CoX. You can get to the Echo: Maps thru Ouroboros (behind the main building is a portal for all the Echo zones) The badges themselves can be found using this guide (be sure to give Skele101 some inf): https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,1319.0.html
  4. The forums account and the game account are different. You clearly have a forum account. Go here to setup a game account - https://forums.homecomingservers.com/account/ If you already have a game account there, go ahead and enter a new password and click "Change Password" . That'll get you going! Welcome to Paragon City, our motto - "We have more empty warehouses, caves, and office buildings, than actual residences"
  5. All I know is what I saw in the thread I snipped...that you for the clarification. Regardless, the point of my response had next to nothing to do with that...
  6. It is an interesting quandary...I just figured they'd file as a 501©(7) - Social Club or Recreational Club, however the IRS has 2 criteria we don't meet - members meet face 2 face, and it's not open to the public. Filing as a 501©(3) requires being a charitable organization. I'm sure, on the face of it, we don't meet those requirements either. However, like the "other" server, HC might decide to go a similar route. Honestly, I would hope not though, because that's how Al Capone went down - messing with the IRS. But a 21% corporate tax rate is a tough pill to swallow, but I would assume they could include that in their monthly target for giving. I'm sure they are getting legal advice on this (I hope)... Of all the things that HC has been silent on, their status as a non-profit is the one that most bothers me (On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 3, tops). I'd really love for them to tell us what's going on with that...
  7. What are you talking about? It's right here. Go get it! I'm not going to download it...read the rest of my post for why As for what I am talking about:
  8. Removing Null the Gull seems contrary to HC's philosophy about enabling more playstyles not fewer. But I'm not sold on the fact that incentives are all or nothing. I think there are ton's of incentives that could get people to "walk on the redside". That's easy. I don't think there are many good incentives to "keep people on the redside". Or I should say "keep most people on the redside". If most people play for a weekend and then change their alignment back - SUCCESS, that means a few people stayed...And again, a 2% change in hero population is a 10% change for villains...
  9. Technically HC is a private server, but in reality, this is a pretty public server. Anyone can create a forum account, and anyone who can create a forum account can play. NCSoft probably will never try too hard to squash small private, invite only servers (with the i24 code out there, it would be like whack-a-mole). But public ones, like HC, coxg, Reddit, etc...if they are going to take action, those are the ones they will hit. And once they do that, no one is going to take the legal and financial losses to try another public server. So things will go back to how they were before...and there's the rub 1.) I don't want to play on a small private server - part of the fun is the massive multiplayer part of the MMORPG. I don't find the game compelling enough without 2.) I'm uncomfortable playing on a small private server - It's hypocritical, but as long as NCSoft put's up with this, I'm OK with the "gray area". Once they pull the plug, I'm going to be less OK with the "darker gray area" this game will become 3.) I can't play on a small private server - I don't have connections that'll get me an "in". I don't have the skills to run my own. And if I did, I'm back to #1 and #2. I also think that Leo and SCoRE are keeping a lid on the i25 code base because they've already been warned by NCSoft about sharing it, so I'd be pretty sad going backwards at this point. So for me, and I am sure for many others (though not all), that it's HC or bust. People talk about the "source code" being out there, but it won't be the same experience at all. I'm in as long as Homecoming is viable, and it's game over for me if it folds. It's not FUD - It's possible NCSoft licenses it's software and allows for public use again. It's possible they just ignore it forever. It's just unlikely, and for that reason, I'm cautious about planning for the long term on this platform. All my own choices, no one else need feel the same way. And as long as it's still functioning, I plan to play the hell out of it, and enjoy what time we get. But I might like to see on more winter event, or go trick or treating one more time...but I really don't want either of them to happen before December and October respectively... EDIT: Scratched out part of my post the Shinobu cleared up for me...
  10. Is it a global channel?
  11. Maybe an error message that's a little more NCSoft on the eyes? I'm no Paragon of virtue when it comes to this though... Nice pun, although the error messages would have been generated by Paragon Studios and were not always helpful. I recalled talking to one of the Devs way back in the day and he relayed a story regarding their move to Jira for bug tracking and that it auto-generated tickets for player-generated bugs using the reporting system. Bug ticket #1 was by a player, who'd description of their issue was "Shit's broke, fix it." Funny as hell but not at all helpful. We had a big launch one time that I was running UAT for, and I put in a bug that was labeled as Showstopper Bug...everyone freaked out, but no one bothered to look at the attachment - picture of a giant cockroach dancing on a stage...I was told later that it was funny as hell, but not helpful...
  12. You had Discipline/Iron Will - but you had to use them BEFORE most of the mezzes, and then it was replaced by Resolve, which lessened the duration, but allowed you to use it while being mezzed. Break Frees added resistance against KB, Repel, Taunt, and Placate, but is essentially the same as Resolve
  13. Maybe an error message that's a little more NCSoft on the eyes? I'm no Paragon of virtue when it comes to this though...
  14. I am always cautious about framing my parenting as advice...I've raised one kid to adulthood (24) and working on another right now (9). Anecdotal parenting advice is a gambler's game. There are so many factors that go into raising a child, it's hard to determine the "right" set of parenting skills. Even for parenting styles I generally agree with, I've seen kids fail out of school or with their own kids by age 18, or straight A student battling depression, or an awesome seemingly well adjusted kid who got decent grades, did 2 years of college and just got their first promotion. And it all depends on what your definition of "success" is as far as child rearing goes... When my 2nd wife and I got pregnant with our little one, I told her that the one thing every human being has advice on is parenting styles. Even those who have never been a parent. And no matter how you do it, people are going to tell you it's the wrong way. I do it as well, if only in my head mostly I'm not criticizing your advice at all (I don't necessarily agree with all of it, but much of it I do) and I really don't want to get into a "how to parent" discussion here. I do want to give +1 Inf however, for the great suggestions you made about Sims, Minecraft and Age of Empires. My kid has played Minecraft and AoE (loves them both), so I will have to check into the Sims...And my kids experience with navigating and completing mission objectives were the same experiences your kid had as well...
  15. Definitely. I tend to pay BUY IT NAO prices when I'm buying IOs because I can afford to do so. I'm more conservative when I'm buying stuff to convert and sell but I've got enough inf in the bank that I can afford to pay a premium when I'm actually buying IOs for my characters. Man, I must be stingy as hell...Of course, I did make my kid give me his allowance money to craft some rares for him the other day...
  16. The D stands for Dive [bar] :P
  17. I would challenge that...Having lots of ways to sort might be MORE useful, but having a few ways (compared to no ways) to sort is still Useful. And often developers don't touch proposed changes because they seem too big...Making them smaller is a great way to get them implemented, and then, if they are used you can always add more later. And when players don't compromise on the solution, then the developers give up in frustration. For this particular change, having 2 quick sort options might be a relatively easy fix, especially if they key off information already visible on the character select screen. Having to build a whole UI for managing sort and filter options is a much bigger issue and might require adding data to the character select that's not already there, which makes the project bigger and could have the effect of making character screen loading slower. So again, I'm not a dev on HC, and I don't speak for them. I do find value in all the ways you listed, but I was wonder how would your prioritize them? It's fine if you aren't interested in doing so, and it doesn't invalidate your suggestion...honestly, I like the idea and I am just trying to help frame it in a way that the dev's want to take it on...
  18. The challenge on this is that the same people who are getting boatloads to spend are more and more frequently doing so using the market and converters... So if I know I can craft an enhancement for 50K and then sell it for 2.5M using converters, I can tell you what I likely WON'T do...spend 2.5M for an enhancement I can make myself for 50K...
  19. I would think revisiting changes to GDN and ED wouldn't even be a discussion at this point, given how baked in they are to everything, not just because of what PvP did or not do to cause them to happen...
  20. Well you or I can't fix it, but I imagine it's quite possible for the HC to do it... Put in a ticket - https://support.homecomingservers.com/ and state your case, I'm sure they'll oblige if they have the tools to do so...
  21. The counterpoint to that is that as profits drop people will stop marketing in a niche or stop marketing entirely and switch to farming. For example early in the game's lifecycle I was converting PBAoEs but as more people moved into that niche the profit margins dropped and I moved to a different area. Converting enhancements is a relatively time-intensive form of marketeering so as profit margins drop people will stop doing it until the market stabilizes. That's a really good counterpoint...can I change my vote? +1 Inf Adeon EDIT: I cannot change my vote...someone else who was going to vote lower, please vote "Unchanged" so my vote still counts. Or else I be a perma haten this thread... COMMENT ON EDIT: I'm really not worried about changing my vote...and no perma haten here...
  22. Aaron Theiry might have something to say about that. Hey, I arrested Aaron...If you killed him, that's on you... Seriously though, I won't let my kid (to his eternal dismay) play the villain side, because I don't need him seeing villainy exalted. We just did Aaron Theiry together (we both had the arc and just ran the missions at the same time), and he chose to kill Aaron and was disappointed I just gave him a pass and arrested him. I'm glad most of the blueside doesn't work that way.
  23. Ha - we already started to derail that other thread! But I guess this might keep it from going farther! https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5185.msg47426.html#msg47426 True. However, one of CoH's strengths is the ability to have basically unlimited alts. Once a character is leveled to 50 and gets fully slotted, that character doesn't need further enhancements. However, when the player starts leveling a different character, they are back on the market purchasing enhancements (funded with earnings from their previous character). That helps keep demand up, which keeps prices from falling too far. As more and more wealth is created, especially by players using this guide, prices will start to fall, because the demand will drop (people using this guide know how to get rare's for cheap, and won't pay inflated prices for them) and supply for the rares will increase. There won't be a steady supply of new players to fuel the market... I'm not being negative about this guide (which is awesome), or players who engage in "flipping" (because who could say anything negative about Shinobu), just realistic that it's an economy subject to the same forces of supply and demand as any other...
  24. Which AT is Blue again? Blue Falcon? The big Blue Cheese? Blue Moon (with an orange slice)? I know you hate Defenders...so which one is your fav? :D
