  1. True. However, one of CoH's strengths is the ability to have basically unlimited alts. Once a character is leveled to 50 and gets fully slotted, that character doesn't need further enhancements. However, when the player starts leveling a different character, they are back on the market purchasing enhancements (funded with earnings from their previous character). That helps keep demand up, which keeps prices from falling too far. As more and more wealth is created, especially by players using this guide, prices will start to fall, because the demand will drop (people using this guide know how to get rare's for cheap, and won't pay inflated prices for them) and supply for the rares will increase. There won't be a steady supply of new players to fuel the market... I'm not being negative about this guide (which is awesome), or players who engage in "flipping" (because who could say anything negative about Shinobu), just realistic that it's an economy subject to the same forces of supply and demand as any other...
  2. That did it! After creating the macro window using Healix's way, I lost it again (I think because I moved the install file). I could not get it back no matter what I did. The command fixed the problem again and now I find that when I log in the macro window is where I had it positioned since logging off before. Many thanks for this, Albion! If I had influence to give, I'd give it to you. You don't have to have inf to give inf...Just click the "Give Inf" under his name... Yeah, that confused me at first actually. The whole "Give Inf" when I didn't have any to start. It's essentially just a karma system, and I'm SO glad that they decided to only allow positive karma... otherwise, my score would be like those on SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy... -501,023! No doubt - I give far more than I get, and I am often mercurial in deciding who and when...In fact +1 Inf for everyone in this quote pyramid! (except me, since you can't [and shouln't] give to yourself)
  3. I like the simple approach...It's not as humorous, but likely more doable...And I'd go for a longer "recharge", like several minutes...It doesn't happen that often...

  6. I can't control my wind at all...might be the burrito talking though...
  7. Malonkey - This really is a great write-up +1 Inf
  8. Here's the Sonic/Sonic corrupter:
  9. ToZ, you are a good egg...A gentleman and a man of good humor. You posted here, got alot of opinions and crap thrown your way, and you've come back and are still posting in good spirits. I loved your memories of CoX...I have my own as well - the Hollows, 1st Character to 50, Roleplaying with a Supergroup, and getting my first travel power (I felt like such a big boy...) I wish you well, and understand your desire to lock the thread...Salutations and +1 Inf
  10. I really enjoyed these stories! Thanks for sharing, and +1 Inf

  12. I was all set to help until I realized that the file is 219 GB, and I would barely have room to store it compressed, much less unzip it...
  13. I hear you - but we are in a position of gradual drift and always have been. While the core mechanics of the game are mostly the same, there has been a gradual drift from Issue #1 to Issue #24...Change is inevitable, and it's going to happen here. But slippery slope says that we just say no because we assume that any change request is only driven with the intent to break things. It's not slippery slope if we evaluate the merits of the change itself based on it's own merits and not held to some phantom ideal of no change. So let's talk merits - You say that these buffs (paragonwiki) are actually pretty good: Buffs: Empowering Aura: Defense/Recovery (Shield) +Rec, +Def - Base Defense +3.00%, Recovery Rate +1.75% (+0.08 end/second) Resist/Damage (Power) +Dmg, +Res(all) - Damage Bonus +3.00%, Resist (all) +5.00% and I say these limitations (again paragonwiki) are pretty bad: Will draw aggro if seen Low Health: 5 to 10 depending on level of the summoner (5 up to lvl 28, 10 from level 32 on, inbetween not certain yet) Have -75% resistance to all damage types (to further help them die easily) So what we have then is a conundrum...It's too powerful, but totally useless...I still say that was not the Dev's intent, and if it was, then the Dev's made a mistake in trying to present it as an award. It's not even good as a vanity pet, which offers no functional value except it won't die at the drop of a hat or a strong sneeze. So is it a compromise? Cut the buff's in half, but drop the Resistance to -30% and double the possible HP? Remove the aggro?
  14. I apologize for my mistaken assumption. Thank you sir
  15. I'm torn. Part of me says, enjoy things while we can - the whole thing may be gone by December, and I too would love to see another Winter Event before then. The other part definitely does not want the holidays to come any sooner than they should. I abstain
  16. Harm is a pretty big stretch. I mean maybe you are just referring to harming the "health" of the game. But that's a ways from harming you. Harm requires injury. Bananas exist where they exist, but that doesn't mean I can stretch the definition to cover other fruits or vegetables. And conversely (and oddly enough, I am of your mind, in that I enjoy the grind): If people feel like grinding to 50 is super painful, they will leave If new players are being told their playstyle is wrong, they will leave If we don't acknowledge that most people doing DFB, AE, and PL'ing are existing players, we fail to see the forest from the trees And players have been trying to find the fastest, most exploity way to get to the max level since Issue 1 and 2, 3, 4, 5, etc[/ii] Like I said, I love the grind - never done more than a handful of DFB, never done any AE (although I do want to do the story arcs there, but not the farms). But I can understand there is a player mentality that differs from mine and will never enjoy the game the way I do. And I do want people to enjoy the game. And I will say that 80% of LFG chat is DFB, but I can count on one hand the LFG requests for farming or powerleveling. Maybe a little in the Help Chat...but it is still less than the constant bickering in help chat over what AT or Powerset is best and why... Switchfade, I know you are going to post back about politeness, and be clear, I am being polite. There is no sarcasm here, there is no intent to offend. Merely to rebut what I see as a misguided viewpoint. You are entitled to your opinion, and you are welcomed to respond, but please don't comment on my civility, because it isn't lacking
  17. Vanden, there are 2 big suppositions in your concern. 1.) That the original devs are the only ones who understand the true intent of CoH. I don't see how that's true. There are many times we've questioned Dev's decisions as a community. There were times that the Dev's made changes to things they themselves implemented. Had the game continued, some Dev's would have left, new ones would have been brought onboard and new philosophy's would have taken root. 2.) Slippery Slope. The challenge here is that Slippery Slope is that we assume that if A happens, it automatically will lead to B happening, and that will lead to C happening, until we hit H or I and the world is falling apart...But that assumes that we aren't capable of making rational informed decisions along the way. We should evaluate each change on it's merits, or lack thereof. I submit 3 examples that I think have made the game better and that were NOT part of the original Dev's vision: Capes/Auras unlocked at creation - SCoRE could have kept it the old way, but updated the vision to include no locked costume parts... Eliminated TF Minimums - SCoRE updated the vision to players can solo all content Elimination of Prestige for Base creation These are all much bigger changes in the game from the Dev's intent, but none of them have ruined it... You have great opinions sir, please feel free to share more...Don't take offense, as none is offered.
  18. Just to put this out there: I'm pretty well introverted and have absolutely no self confidence. If I can form a TF, almost anyone can. >.> Zolgar...I never said it couldn't be done. In fact, I said that anyone who says it's too hard or impossible is incorrect. Nothing in the game prohibits teaming. Just saying there is a big spectrum from "this is easy, I don't see why anyone can't do this" to "OMG...that was draining...I don't understand why people like doing this", and for a variety of reasons, among the ones I included, it can be difficult.
  19. No way! Is the chat bubble near the NPC’s? :P
  20. “For better or worse” makes it sound like we are married to the concept. :) Seriously, NCSoft’s intent was that we had to do a cape mission at 20 and an Aura mish at 30. I don’t think we need to stay true to all of the ideas we had in Live. And I realize that the buff is small, and that the pets HP can be counted on all my fingers, and that they have -75% Resistance. But the intent, beyond dying quick, is that you get some value from the pet. I get more utility from the vanity pets. It was supposed to be a reward... Vanden, are you opposed to improving it, or just informing uof the history? And to be clear, this is not high on my priority list...but does “seem” like an easy fix.
  21. That was good SwitchFade, +1 Inf
