Need help please: Error Parsing Line Argument
justicebeliever replied to Daikon's topic in Help & Support
I haven't the foggiest on this issue - but to ensure that the Devs/GM's know about it, you may want to create a support ticket - https://support.homecomingservers.com/ Of course, be sure you've 1.) Re-validated the download (click options on the Tequila launcher) 2.) Rebooted the PC 3.) Rebooted your router 4.) Checked your firewall to ensure it's not blocking traffic... Hope this helps -
Paragon Wiki is the go to for CoH information. It is slightly dated (doesn't have the new stuff that SCORE or Homecoming has put in), but it has 95% of what you need https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Story_Arc https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Trial https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Task_Force https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Strike_Force https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Raid https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Signature_Story_Arc https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Incarnate_Trial And just for Hero's here is an awesome guide to some of the critical paths by Almafeta (be sure to Give Inf to that poster if you like it). Also - here are some critical contacts that might be helpful - https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,1755.0.html (same - Give Amidamaru Inf if you like it)

Make Contacts/Radio Available in All Zones At Level 50
justicebeliever replied to Hakarne's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I wouldn't complain if it was implemented that way. But when it comes down to it... what's the big deal? If you want to do it properly at level you can still do it in Ouro. For people who want to play their 50s in the actual zones they'd be able to do that too. I suppose you could also make the argument that people might farm the simpler mobs that are up leveled to 50. And again... So what? People already farm the hell out of simple missions in both AE and the over world. Hell, this could at least get some people out of AE to play on mission maps! I'm sure people would still run PI and other max zones for badges and varied mobs. But again this would spread people out and give more options at end game. You'd also have a reason to hang out in the older zones at level 50 which would be nice. When you say - "in the zones" - do you mean the city/hazard zone, or a mission map? If it's the city zone and the mission is to "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls" then you are going to be fight level 10 skulls against your level 50 - I'm all for that - it does give you a reason to be in the zone, and despite it's easiness, sometimes Cap or Supes just stops a regular mugging. If it's a mission map - I would think you would want be leveled down, because it won't be much fun fighting a Hellion boss with 3 attacks, no matter how upleveled he is...That way you get to do the content in the various city zones, but still have a challenge. No different than teaming up with me for a Positron TF if you are level 50, it's still going to downlevel you -
Welcome Telephone! Can you tells us more about who you are? (Besides not my lawyer either, he would be sad to find out he's been replaced. Unless of course you are my lawyer and you also are involved in Homecoming...)

Steel Canyon Defend the UNSF Base mission
justicebeliever replied to Eric's topic in General Discussion
Eric - for what's it worth, you can auto complete a mission every 3 days...If this one is sticking you, you might just want to go back to your Laura Lockheart and complete it. Since it is the final mission in the arc, not sure if that will break any rewards (you obviously lose an additional experience from fighting the mobs in the mission, but sounds like you've already done that)... -
Allow Characters to Have the Same Name
justicebeliever replied to gameboy1234's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It's already been suggested as part of the Naming Policy - dev's shot it down for now - https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,2356.msg15159.html#msg15159 -
I like this idea, but unfortunately that could cause issues for people on tighter budgets not being able to count on exactly when such a debit could occur. And someone being bumped up several spots because X amount of people couldn't be charged one month(regardless of why), could put someone into overdraft or NSF fees charged by their bank. I realize some may counter with better budgeting, spending habits, or whatever else, but this is just the reality for a lot of people. And I'm sure the last thing the HC team wants is some auto process to cause people to overdraft on their bank account, or get chargebacks because someone forgot they were signed up and they get the bank or HC to refund the money. I feel it would carry more overhead and other potential risks than would be worth it. At this point there are so many grey areas in what's happening here, I think the wisest course of action is the one that involves the shortest possible windows for giving, and the fewest people involved. At this point Homecoming LLC is a for-profit enterprise, wholly owned by one person. So any claim they make at this point of being a non-profit is out the window. So that doesn't help. Setting up a recurring billing system, no matter how innocent, starts to feel like a for-profit enterprise which is more likely to draw unwanted attention. (Hmm - they have 10K ppl willing to do $25/mos - that $3M/year at play now, even if they aren't collecting it). But if it's only a few hundred people during a small window then it at least "less grey", whatever that means. Besides, not being able to give doesn't hurt anyone, and setting up a recurring billing system is probably something we'd prefer they not divert resources to from maintaining and building out the game. Lets see what things look like when they become a non-profit... Full transparency - I did give during the June window ($25)

I have to find my Heroclix - I know I had Statesman and Black Scorpion...they used to be on my desk, but I think my kiddos may have absconded with them

Not sure if you are being at all serious... Everyone who is concerned about "rip-off characters" is thinking about the Marvel lawsuit Never decided by the courts - it was settled, and the terms of the settlement are unknown As a result of the lawsuit, NCSoft doubled down on its policing of characters using existing names/costumes from other companies And it no doubt cost NCSoft a ton of money to fight off the lawsuit, money that Homecoming doesn't have. And that was all pre-Mouse, Disney is much more litigious and has even deeper pockets Is it likely that Marvel/Disney or DC/WB are going to sue? I really don't think so Re: I haven't really seen any instances of anyone being truly bullied by this, either in-game or one this thread. Some strong opinions being expressed, but no bullying. Let's all not try to take this personally - it is just a game that we aren't even paying for Final Thought - I'm also all for discussion, and think that yes - there is a case to be made that ripping off other characters is a bad practice, but it's really pointless for us to debate it here, since a.) Homecoming hasn't set a policy, and b.) most people don't read the forums, so they are unaware it's even a concern, and c.) If the Mouse or WB are going to sue, there are already a ton of characters in the system for them to use as examples - it's not like anything this thread will do will change the behavior, except to stress some people out...

issue 26 Patch Notes for May 30th, 2019
justicebeliever replied to Leandro's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
Fascinating. So for a population of 100K and provided you are doing random sampling, how do you determine a valid sample size? I know there are several variables to consider. -
issue 26 Patch Notes for May 30th, 2019
justicebeliever replied to Leandro's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
Again, you are misunderstanding the text presented, which means it is not "really, really wrong." To reiterate, a sample size of greater than 30 is VALID when a population is known. A sample of larger numbers of a population renders finer results, but the outcome is largely the same. Your proclamation that you need a large sample size to account for everyone of interest in a population is somewhat misleading, we are interested in the whole population, and must attempt to fairly represent them through sampling MEANS. I do appreciate your insight. There are no incorrect statements, analogies, inferences, descriptors or concepts in my responses as you have mentioned. My understanding for n=30 is that it's tied to the CLT, which can only be applied for data sets with successive, random sampling. Neither of which is present in a forum thread. Again, I am not a statistics PhD, but part of my background is in marketing, and I never heard the CLT applied there (just discovered it due to this thread). I've also seen quite a bit of debate about the utility of n=30 (in fact that it is an accepted standard due to it being what fits best in textbooks - though that seems spurious reasoning). As I said, feel free to PM me more information (on the web, or start a dialogue) if you are concerned about threadjacking - I'd really like to learn more. And for what it's worth, if you want people to buy into what you are saying you have to do more than say - I am an expert, trust me...you need some reasoning. I don't doubt you have it, please share! -
I'm sure I'll get crucified for my thoughts, so I'll start out with disclaimers 1.) I'm playing CoH on Homecoming everyday 2.) I did do a June Donation ($25) 3.) I'm a big fan of the devs and admins, and the considerable amount of time, $$, and risk they've invested My thoughts - Homecoming LLC needs to be really careful about this financial process, since it will be the #1 reason this project gets shutdown and the #1 cause of true legal jeopardy for their efforts (not saying those things will for certain happen, just that the $$ is the #1 risk). Currently they are setup as a for-profit SMLLC (That is to say as a business with a single human owner). Any money right now can't be considered a donation, but rather a gift from us, and taxable income for the owner of Homecoming LLC. So right now, the smaller # of givers, and the smaller window of opportunity at least gives the appearance that they aren't trying to setup a "subscriber base" with a recurring income base. Better to show a short need, get the money from the smallest possible audience, and get out to give another unnamed company less reason to really worry about what's happening here. I'm sure someone will say - "come, on, we are talking about days, instead of minutes, it's not that big a deal, and it's the same amount of money". Maybe, maybe not, but if a certain company senses we are walking a slippery slope, they might feel the need to intervene sooner...My thoughts - why poke the bear...this is probably the least offensive, most trustworthy way to collect money until/if they have a non-profit setup...

Game isn't acknowledging that I have an account.
justicebeliever replied to MightyDavidson's topic in Help & Support
After you create your Homecoming forum account, you have to create a game account as well. Go here to create it - https://forums.homecomingservers.com/account/ -
Looks like they hit 100,000 members yesterday. Check out the forum stats page. Although there might be more for members than actual players, because you do not need to create a game account to post to the forms. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php?action=stats

Why? They're no longer even with the company that developed it. The product is officially dead, so it's not like Homecoming is competing with the owners' business. I would think it would be a positive mark that they would be openly happy to see the project they loved so much kept alive by its fans after the publisher killed it. The code isn’t officially dead. NCSoft still holds all the copyrights and trademarks. So what we are doing is not 100% above board. I wouldn’t want any of my employees or future employees endorsing something that is questionable at best.

Can't play Homecoming because Beta is downloading?
justicebeliever replied to Rinwen's topic in General Discussion
The folder they use is “hc-beta”, not “beta-hc”. At least it was on my PCs -

Beta download isn't optional
justicebeliever replied to DjinnNJuice's topic in [Open Beta] Bug Report Archive
I downloaded the entire game on 3 PC’s, one took 12 hours, one took 8 hours, and one took 90 min. I think the speed of hosting servers is one of the big gaiting factors in the time to download. And their bandwidth depends on how many people are downloading at once. TL;DR - too early to worry. PS - you can still play production by double clicking on “Homecoming” that’s on the top left of the splash screen -
For me the magic has always been - I can live my early childhood dream and be a hero. It's the old game we used to play - if you could have any one superpower, which one would pick? Well I can pick all of them and see what they feel like. Excepting shrinking...I'd really love to shrink.
