Ice Melee + Stone Armor - which archetype?
Without_Pause replied to electric_emu's topic in Archetypes
Stalker due to dropping a low DPS attack for AS. Brute since Fury loves DoT. Here's my current Brute build with Incarnates added in. I went all in on surviving. I find damage still to be decent enough. I might at some point rework it to balance out the numbers a bit, but at least this is a starting point. And yes, I would love more slotting for EE. It kind of bugs me, but again, I would have to rework the build to change it. This is oddly enough based on Croax's Stalker version. I soloed it 1-50 on red side and modified as I went along. I think after a 4th pass, I stopped counting any additional looks I gave it. It is currently T3ed sans Lore and so far I am rather happy with it. P.S. I soloed Council +4/x8 at 48. Ice Patch was not even needed. Not recommended, but it can be done. Soloed +4/x8 a mission with killing non-AV LR. One death due to henchmen spam and misclicking Melee as I fully clicked on it versus toggling it. That was before everything was T3 sans Lore, but I think one thing was T2. Kind of a blur in the playing so it might have been already T3ed. This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.2.17 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! I have no definitive answer. Kat has such clean animations. DB gets to put the +50% Proc in BF. At some point I need to roll a Kat on a Def based build so I can see how much if at all DA is needed. I had a Kat/sr on live but that was ages ago, and I didn't really do IO builds back then so DA was helpful.

Croax has a thread for all of the Stalker combos. Just note even they admit the builds might not be the most ideal. I have been known to change things as I see fit. I even made a Ice/stone Brute based on his Stalker version. I made it cheaper by removing some purples. The added mitigation was worth the sacrifice in recharge, at least to me. I soloed that build red side 1-50 and currently have it T3ed to everything. I'll take my notes and see what else I can change on my Stalker version once I get the Brute version T4ed.

The issue is why are people making alts on a server which actively seems to not support playing said alt. I've been maybe not even a week on the server, and it is a backup server on top of that, but I have seen sub level 25 content being run twice due to being mentioned in LFG, and I'm not including the time I posted about running FF, which again, I did solo. Back on live I ran an SG, and we posted what we ran all the time in channels.

With the player base being what it is, I don't even look at the player count when dual boxing. If a server is red, I know enough to not dual box since, you know, there's obviously enough teams running to simply join one. As someone who is open about using a laptop with an integrated card and Intel on top of that, I can have slight issues in game even running a single instance on my laptop.

Well, here's the schedule. There's nothing blue side for anything low for a month, which is why I am offering to team with people who are new to the server. Even if you count in red side, Tarikoss is MM only, which does nothing for my Defender. The problem with the theme is that it essentially eliminates various builds from even doing it. Note, I'm not hating on what they do. I think what they do is great. I'm just pointing out how limiting it is as one of the few things which actually gets run on the server. Apr 2 – Virgil Tarikoss (Level 15-20 - Red Side: Cap au Diable) – All MM team...you choose your costume! Apr 9 – Apex (Level 50+Alpha – Heroes & Villains: Rikti War Zone) – Tights costume...bring your best sleek look. Any AT! Apr 16 – Silver Mantis (Level 20-25 – Red Side – Sharkville Isle) – Silver costumes! One AT of each type! Apr 23 – Justin Augustine (Level 44-50 – Blue Side – The Chantry) – Four elements (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water) Any AT that has at least one of those powers! Costume to match. Apr 30 – Faathim the Kind (Level 44-50 – Blue Side – The Chantry) – Crystals...make it shiny! Any AT!

Well, I literally mentioned the Saturday themed ones. It is tough to do themed TFs when my character was level 9 when I saw the thread. I saw the other one as well, but Sunday's are less ideal for me, but if people can make use of it, then great.
-
Mike and I are currently kicking around ideas for teaming. I looked at the server forum and saw there is a noon Eastern themed TFs on Saturdays so we would want to avoid that unless we would want to join. I offered up 10am Eastern on Saturdays. Having built up some Merits and converting going on in the market, I popped in the "Any AT" farm to get some levels, and I'm up to 15. Might hit 16 for the hold to stack with and wait for teams.

What are your tips for managing a large character roster?
Without_Pause replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
The thing which is helping me is having character across different servers. Yes, this might make it worse for some. I would rather have a server's listing be all of a 1-2 pages versus one server having four pages. I'm rerolling some builds on my second account to my first just to cut down on switching back and forth on accounts. -
Did you do Part 1 & 2 or the old version? If you only did Part 1 OR Part 2, then you need to do the other as well. Did you get Rule of Three or Dam Hero badges?

I actually put a couple of characters on Indom to help that server out. I will likely move one character back to Torch so they can get rid of the '.' I added to their name when I moved them to Excel. Lately, if a name is available, I have moved as many of my lowbies as I can over to Everlasting while adding some new characters there as well. On live, I was eventually split between Freedom and Virtue so doing the same in terms of popular server and RP server makes sense to me. This will also clean up my roster in a way as I can have less pages of characters to deal with on each server. I realized I was certainly partly to blame for driving up the price on a recipe, so I stopped doing that. I decided to go on the low side because honestly a slower intake works for me at this point. I'm under 225 crafted inventions for the 2k badge and close to offloading another billion.

What's the best combo for getting and keeping aggro?
Without_Pause replied to Shocktacular's topic in Tanker
DNA Siphon is a click with Taunt. Also, Ice has slows in it so even if a target looks elsewhere, it might not actually get there. -
It might be an end hog, but it also can use a proc it mitigate the heal and gets end recovery from an attack.

What's the best combo for getting and keeping aggro?
Without_Pause replied to Shocktacular's topic in Tanker
Ice/ice. Chilling Embrace and Ice Patch are where it is at. -
I have a hard time thinking there is another set which does more regen than WP. It is commonly referred to as a fixed version of Regen.
-
No ill will sent. I blame the lateness. I have been talking to someone via messages about Claws, DB, and Kat offering pros and cons. They came away with all three sets seeming to work out. I have rolled a couple DB including one recently who is up to 16. I never really did IOs on live so I'm revisiting various sets now. Some of us don't have a problem thinking of a character once we get past the idea of playing Claws and not be THAT guy.

If this was a buffet, what build should everyone try?
Without_Pause replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
Plant/ta. Seeds is cheat mode as a control. It almost feels like you use that and anything else is gravy. TA doesn't have to look at health/end bars or worry about buffs. Shoot some arrows and move on. TA is a silver platter of a buffet for a Controller as well. More control on a ST and AoE level, debuffs, and more damage. As a Defender, I think TA/ice can be made one of the more solo friendly ones although soloing isn't fast. It took me about 90 minutes to solo FF, but that included a death, being level 8, and zero slotting. If you simply want something for teams, TA/water as Water offers a self heal. A side benefit of these builds is you really get to play around with procs. Everyone should try the Scrapper version of Claws. One of the smoothest rides to 50. Everyone should try playing a support character on a team just to get the experience of what that is like. More so if you lack heals. Nothing better than being on a support set without heals, someone with heals, and then the team going "Thanks for the heals." Literally a thankless job. -
It's super obvious, but doing the WST earns double Merits. Each Posi and Yin can be done in 30 minutes or under on sane teams. Posi is 11 and 15 Merits. Yin is 20. I was on a red side TF doing a speed version, and I think the time was like 13 minutes or some sort of whiplash time. Stalkers are actually quite good at Merit farming when factoring in non-TF content although I think maybe the old Yin TF is one they can specialize in.

I think the point is are you doing kill alls at x1 or are you actually pushing the mobs size? I would love to see how many blasters are taking masses of Mu and their end drain at x8 with a leveling build. They can task my Brute which has actual end drain protection. Kill alls aren't really in the favor of Blasters you think they are. How many Blasters are doing x8 before level 50? If I can take a Brute through 3 missions to get a level during my 30s, how many does it take for a Blaster? You aren't winning a leveling race at +0/x1 with mission completion bonuses. Any famer can verify that.
-
This works to the advantage of the melee characters actually since they can handle the additional mez coming in far easier. It is much easier for a blaster to ghost to the end and kill the boss.
-
That's neat. What to talk about mitigation with two different KD powers and the fact Claws has two ranged attacks? Did you factor that into your spreadsheet DPS? Claws can AoE KD from range while DB is still moving into melee.
-
I can't recall what level range and certainly those missions took time, but I think even in my 30s I could crank a level in 3 missions and pretty consistently. You can't do arc missions due to traveling between zones if you are looking for completion bonuses and speed. If one pushes their diff setting, they will see they fully go T4 much later Vet level wise than other builds.
-
I haven't really done proc builds on a Scrapper. I go for set bonuses. Saying that, I default to one proc or one off in an attack. If for some reason a set has 6 slots with one being a proc, I see if I can switch out a D/R and add another proc in. Without looking, I'm not sure how much that happens for Scrappers. I see it more with controls where you swap out the mez/recharge for a second proc. Usually proc builds are done for DPS test builds(Pylon/Trapdoor), but do so at the sacrifice of mitigation. BS is a slower set so the procs should in theory proc fairly often.
-
It's more important at lower levels. The -Def is important due to Def Debuff -Res procs.

The server can know it is safe for another day from the tyranny of Frostfire as my Def soloed the mission. When I logged on of the 47 characters on, 27 are level 50 with four more in their 40s. Only been on a few days, but here's what I am seeing. The player base is heavily leaning towards level 50s. I have seen one LFG message outside of level 50 content in the number of hours I have been on the server. One. Even they admitted they were prepared to solo it if need be, This isn't even to say there are that many LFG messages. It feels like people are playing with their SGs and that's it. In the 90+ minutes I was on the server today a grand total of 1 LFG was sent out which wasn't my own. One. I put out a couple LFG messages and made sure to wait in-between. I got no takers. It hurts my brain to think of a FF advertised and run and still being done solo. I've seen higher up characters run lowbie content on Excel. I guess not here. In the end, if people organize things then they can be done here. If not, you basically know you are going to be soloing it. A player base dies once the character base gets too old. Sub level 40 life is so vacant here what is the motivation to roll a new character? I'll keep the character there, but likely use the one on my main server as well. If people want to team on Saturdays let me know and we can figure something out. As is, I don't feel the need to solo a defender when during the same time frame roughly of gaining a level, I could have essentially run the same mission plus Posi 1&2 on my home server and be something like level 17 versus 9.
