The Welcome Wagon for new roleplayers, and old!
Crystal Dragon replied to Crystal Dragon's topic in Roleplaying
Thank you @Wylde Fyre and Platinum Diva for helping me out in a pinch. I had forgotten Spaz is doing Pathfinder this evening and was going to be locked in for that. Any new players interested, or needing a refresher, please reach out to them both in-game on Everlasting. -

Microsoft gaming chief calls for industry-wide game preservation
Crystal Dragon replied to Hyperstrike's topic in Video Games
I could make a list of games I'd love to see available for play that aren't scalped, or illegally emulated, many of them are multiplayer or early mmorpgs. (*coughs* dungeonrunners anyone?*coughs*) But we genuinely can't say if this'll be a positive to the gaming industry or not. I would like to think they are advocating for the possibility of gaming archaeology (Which is a thing, I know a couple that specialize in early games from the telnet era of internet history.) as well as promoting video gaming museums. -

They do have a bad recent history of that. One can hope they don't though. -

*IF* and this is a HUGE IF microsoft does lead the way to do this, it could open up the floodgates to other game producers to take emulation and preservation of older games more seriously. -
The Welcome Wagon for new roleplayers, and old!

For this coming weekend; We are taking a tally of new player/roleplayer interests in a late nighter class period, scheduling roughly around 9PM Eastern or so. Please let me know if your unable to make it to the 5PM classes, I will invite you to the 9PM if you are available so we can take a headcount at the beginning of class to estimate interest and decide on creating the second class timeslot. Late night vets interested in mentoring, we are still seeking mentor volunteers, please reference to the Roleplayers guide club for more details or contact any of us involved with teaching the classes. We'll be more than happy to help you find your footing and get you set up with the framework we are running the lessons off of. Thank you again everyone for all of your wonderful support. ❤️ -

People complaining about RPing on an RP server?
Crystal Dragon replied to Greycat's topic in Everlasting
No worries my dude. My post above was addressing something that kwsapphire (They deleted it though, I think.) had commented earlier about how RPers can be annoying during raids, even though some raids were organized by Rpers themselves for in-character runs. (Which is fun as hell by the by, 10/10 would recommend trying for new folks and old.) But yeah, I have no qualms with RP at all, no matter the place or the time, as long as the content itself is PG13 in public spaces, as it should be. Group fly is MORE than welcome and recommended with MSR though @jkwak, especially in CU's sponsored runs. Hell, I'll see if I can lead tonights run IC, just so you can get some of that delicious XP and some fun RP in the mean time of the raid, sound good my dude? -

On that note: Next class semester begins on the 19th of Nov. Vets and mentors interested, please do drop by during the sessions so we can talk over how you can help keep this program alive. Otherwise, please reference to the Roleplayers Guide Collaberative club for more details. -
People complaining about RPing on an RP server?
Crystal Dragon replied to Greycat's topic in Everlasting
The thing is, and this is a very common issue on Everlasting is that the MSR's that get formed do sometimes have roleplayers organizing the league, or maintaining the teams. A lot of buffs can be disabled from p2w and from Null the Gull in Pocket D, but most folks are just too lazy to go that route and complain until no one wants to talk to them or deal with them anymore. For the most part, the last couple nights my husband has been leading in character MSR runs. (Which surprised the hell out of me, he usually hates raiding in character, but he's enjoying it, for once!) Point Du Hoc tends to get swarmed by raiders both roleplaying and nonroleplaying and when your on a server that is vastly populated with roleplayers, you tend to kind of go with the flow of things. We've had a few that had gotten blacklisted for basic impoliteness, leeching while afk during the raid, or generally being rude towards raiders and their raid leaders, very rarely have we had to oust a nonroleplayer from our teams or leagues for complaining about roleplaying happening. If it clutters the chat during a raid, there are chat tabs and filters you can set for yourself in the chat options, no one will fuss at you for adjusting that to clean up your chat screen. In fact, I encourage it as a backup raid leader for Chaos United. -

Updating the status on the class structure and other information. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WhWMFcjS50s1NBqEWxntRrBNW0h2bXsA/view?usp=sharing As the organizer for this program I've been in a bit of a bind in the last month or so. And yeah, I'm opening up about this to the public. I've been in therapy actively for the last four years, but the last year now I've regressed in a way that has me seeking more help at this time medically. My schedule is shifting drastically because of this and I need the community to pitch in with keeping this project alive. I really do. I understand we all have priorities and employment to focus on, and that's great, wonderful in fact! But this community does need this class project for the new folks joining the game and just starting out as beginning roleplayers. I have put a lot of effort in to keeping things organized, schedules open to the community and ensuring newer players have mentors to turn to if they run into an issue that needs explanation or guidance to work through. My goal with this project wasn't to lord over roleplaying, or to judge others for their play interests or styles, but to help newer budding roleplayers learn their way through the maze of questions I'm sure most had starting out. I tailored the classes to be warm, welcoming, and open formed so that everyone gets to be heard, questions get addressed, and if they don't get address right then, it will in the next session the following day, or during workshop on Mondays after the class weekend. I aspired to keep the classes fun, engaging, and welcoming to all levels of play experience while opening up dialog that covers all styles of roleplay, not just the basic story telling perspectives but defining it down to the context and content to be expected and abbreviations that most don't care to take time to explain. I know that I have @McSpazz in on this for the long haul, he's made that very clear when I opened up about this to him privately. But I'm here to ask the community to lend a hand, even if it's just for a weekend out of each month, to help mentor these newer players. We had a LOT of people show up this past weekend, and I can't thank City of Roleplays vets enough for jumping in to help us out with juggling the number of questions and topics that came up during workshop yesterday. If we can have mentors from the group drop by more often for these classes, that would help out tremendously! But I would like to kindly ask the community to please put into consideration that these classes were designed for growth in mind, growth and education on the basics to the more advanced details about roleplaying in our community. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I have a three page syllabus that breaks it down to the very basics that says otherwise. 😄 My case and point, @McSpazz might be assuming organizer role for a while for this project to continue while I'm taking time away to focus on my mental health care. Not to beat around the bush but he does have a pretty tight schedule at times and could use extra mentors to help out with keeping the classes on schedule and assisting him with the number of attendees that show up to learn. The more the merrier I say, but keep in mind, this project exists because the community does have a niche and need for it. Please help me keep it alive while I try to take care of my well being. -
Good idea, might be a good time for that. Not sure who should be designated to do it, but uh, here's an idea. If ya visit a base and it's working, highlight it on the listings in green. If it's not working, leave a comment on that entry and highlight it in red. Missing bases should be deleted from the list to sum things up.

*hands a ear peice, gestures to place it around the cup of the ear, and insert into the canal. Whispers softly.* Is that helping any?

Did you get a piece of art from Taclobanon?
Crystal Dragon replied to Greycat's topic in Art & Multimedia
I tend to undercharge for my commissions because it's AI assisted, but I'm completely against selling my work, or commissioned pieces on any NTF marketplace. In fact on my commissions page, I expressly point out that I refuse to sell to people that have only intent to auction my art off for a higher price because NTF is harmful to the environment and I refuse to participate in doing further damage to our only planet to call home. If I had better tools available, I would most certainly make the effort to do things by hand, but given my disability, I'm unable to at this time. I will say this however, if anyone spots any of my work up there, let me know. I will tear someone a new orifice at those marketplaces and make certain they blacklist any work with my name attached to it. -
Decided to set up a few of my own bases to share with the public.

Art/Commission Sharing Thread
Crystal Dragon replied to Midnight Blue Mage's topic in Art & Multimedia
*sneaks in shyly* So I um...I do commissions.. sorry super nervous about this. Excuse me...pardon.. So um, @Jelly from the HC discord commissioned a set of character portraits and I ended up producing a few extra in the attempts to get the bunnykin they were asking for. Decided to go the extra mile with turning the bunnykin into a transparency for them. I quite like how it all turned out. The first one that I turned out was the samurai, because I can't do full body portraits, I stick with bust shots and rendered some really interesting results with both requests. And yes I use artbreeder as well as several other AI art collectives to do art. I used to be able to draw and sketch, but have been unable to hold a pencil/pen stable for nearly ten years now due to my anxiety, so I use the AI sites as a tool to create new art without letting my disability hold me back. -
In case anyone's hunting for commissioned art for their characters here. I am open for 20 requests at this time. I'll update as requests come in. ❤️

>.> <.< I may or may not be accepting commissions for my digital art. Ahem. Anyway! *wanders off, her tail swishing about behind her.*

Yep, briefly, I switched to my lower leveled warshade to get some xp from the trick or treating and saw banners were up and figured what the hey, folks need those badges too and I know I got them on my main, so chipped in while I could. 🙂
