  1. The Boys does a pretty good job of showing what happens to street level heroes who dont skill up. Process of super selection if you will. 😛
  2. If and only if players take damage from the backfire/recoil of that when standing behind em in groups. 😛
  3. You're moving the goal post there a bit. Of course people get curious from streams, check it out and may not stay. But some do. That's pretty much how it'd run even when the game was live and a news article, sale or other form of getting the info out there to the public occurred. Not all streamers necessarily "move on either". Streamers also keep their videos up in some cases meaning an influx of players can come at any time per watch such videos. People have to come play in order to be have even the chance of being a "regular". Way you seem to express things, you'd not even allow the opportunity. Sounds like that gated community analogy wasn't far off, perhaps. And lastly claiming new people be they short lived in playing or otherwise hurts the community is absurd and sorry sounds very much more like elitism being voiced there. All in all, you're being a bit silly.
  4. Fulcrum shift is going to work for anyone who is in its aoe range not just "1-2 people" and its effectivity varies on the player/at/powers used from there. I've never seen anyone complain about FS, more the opposite in thanks of it on teams for the team. Im a bit skeptical concerning your claims of that but if you're on a leveling team that has some individual making such complaints besides yourself, if I was lead, I would say we can either up the difficulty if the team's consensus is that they want more of a challenge. Teams do that because until we all start fighting, we do not necessarily know whether the group's dynamics favor weaker or more difficult challenges. In other cases of speed runs where the time completion is more important and most who join such understand that. If there isnt a consensus on upping the difficulty then its left as is. If the complainer keeps at it, I'll privately suggest they may want to find another team to play on if they're so unhappy with it not matching them. If they continue beyond that, they'd probably find themselves kicked if they're demoralizing the rest of the team with their antics because at that point its a player issue not a team one.
  5. Are you ok? I hope you're not serious with that. I didnt make any mention of banning streamers. Streamers have been some of the best ways in recent years that we've had exposure and new blood into the community. That's a good thing. With any influx of new people to the game, there will of course be bad behavior or just simply people semi ignorant of the why's and what-not's regarding such things as the copyrighted toons etc. Influxes of players even when the game was live too had that happen. Overall having new folks means more people who can potentially be passionate about the game, help grow the community/maintain the community, and more. But blanketedly saying streamers should be banned reminds me of some gated community's HOA's members getting seeds under their dentures about someone having a welcome mat at someone's front door saying welcome on it or such. Such nonsense borders on elitism (an issue that rears its ugly head now and then on HC unfortunately but thankfully is usually kept in check). Also with people who make copyrighted toons, they get generic'd and not banned unless I assume they're just doing so intentionally for griefing purposes. Most of the time, its just people being excited to play. Typically we want to help that enthusiasm, not wack it with our gran pappy canes and break em. All in all, alienating streamers and people excited about the game is just silly. Making them aware of policies and enforcement in a kinder way I would think is a more apt way of going about it. 😛 Thus, best perhaps to table that motion there. 😛
  6. Doesn't even have to be that it was reported. GMs/Devs of course read the forums rather regularly too. Snarky's bein' framed, I tell ya! Framed! (like litterally in an oval there...)
  7. I talked to someone yesterday on Excelsior that said that they'd watched some vids from youtube that were showing up in some feed of theirs or something. The uptick may be due to something like that. Also, its summer so can just be the seasonal influx with people doing that and eventually learning the hardway not to.
  8. Its summer. Lots of game released/releasing, people doing stuff, etc etc. Really though I'd say activity atm is about on par with that of last summer really. Just seasonal.
  9. 100mm? So 100 million million (100 million x 1 million). So we're gonna need a loooot of new game accounts... 😛
  10. The resources and development of the HM's is all fine. It is a very small niche of players that were pushing for them, and pushed to play them, and as Snarky said, have moved on. The only nice thing about HM's being there now is that the next time people start saying they want more challenging content, everyone can point to the HM's and say, "and yet a very large, significant portion of the player base do no play that content and thus going in that development direction has much less merit". Aethers were 30mil+ when HM's released, then people made new alts during last years halloween earned 10 per toon, then parked it and made their next one. Some had hundreds of aethers by the end of the event's run dropping values down to around the 8mil mark then. Now they're 4mil give or take and perhaps half that come end of next halloween. If we also factor the numbers of people actually wanting the costumes from the Aethers, I'm going to make a conjecture that that still is a fractional minority of the player base. Reminds me of the same sort of pattern for wow raiding where the chasers of the tip top stuff do it, then move on. It really is a development feature creep, primarily for subscription retention for the masses(as other groups will spend months and months and months trying to do what the top teams do in a month). Luckily CoH doesnt have to be locked into following that silly pattern anymore....
  11. I've been on "speed runs" that effectively took longer than a "normal" run. Its to me these days just a marketing tool to get people to join run's thinking they'll go quicker than they actually may.
  12. As other have eluded to, think on the combo's as "optional bonuses". Play it then as you will. As you grow into playing the set, you may start to get a feel of when you can or should use some combos but also keep in mind that most builds on most toons that also try to make their toon effective, do not take all attacks. Given then that various attacks in DB require chaining specific attacks in order, this means inevitably some bonus combos are not going to happen. So level to 50 a DB then decide whether its something to play more or park.... ie just enjoy the journey.
  13. Well not being on live seems on point... given some of the undead thematics 😛
  14. Basically influencer marketing intentionally played up the contrasts between the two so as to make it a bit of not just a competition in terms of the differences of the movies but associate differences with the demographics and their real world views who may or may not watch either movie. It is/was a perfect storm to play on mass market gullibility. They're just manually being generic'd currently. Anyone really thinking this was a good idea to make characters (outside of just forum mirth) from the name of a powerful corporation's trademarked/copyrighted toy during the peak of its movie's run in a game that walks the thin line of trying to remain up and not getting itself in trouble to where the delicate truce with NCSoft would put in question was deluding themselves really.
  15. Best would be Necro Barbie and her Zombie Kens.....
  16. Given I did clearly state that I didn't think you were meaning to insinuate such things and essentially giving you the benefit of the doubt, that response from you does make for compelling evidence that such possibilities may have more merit to be dispelled at this point...
  17. At this point, if there's anything the last couple of pages have shown I think is that we need an eyeroll icon option in the "likes"....
  18. You could make a build for a different primary/secondary for a tank that can get you all resists except one (0.4% shy of cap on that one mind you). before you factor incarnates. But then, it is going to be not an optimal build. Making a goal of a 90% all cap on resists before incarnates often means the build is less than optimal when you factor all the other mitigations/benefits etc of a build. One of the reasons rad is often suggested is because while it cannot hit 90% cap on all damage types, what it does hit cap on are the more common resists(cold is its hole) and that it has other mitigations like heal/absorb, decent aoe damage output etc and not sacrificing the overall effectivity of it being a tank. Expectation too then is for the team to also be bringing other things to help with. You can also build various means with dark to(and yes that was the one I mentioned above getting almost all capped before incarnates) but most build dark either with a 67-80% energy hole only or that only when, say, rune of protection is on cool down instead so that the rest of the build doesnt suffer in damage, acc, healing, recharge etc etc. Invuln isnt bad and its cited by some to be the semi go to armor for those wanting be in the minority doing the hardmode content(other armors can be effectively better mind you but with a preplanned team that helps complement your build so everyone survives optimally.). So another question becomes what are the actual play goals for that toon you have. If you're going to be building to play more of the general content then literally -anything- is going to be fine because most teams are going to patch your limitations so to speak. If you're looking into making a hardmode content toon, then check out the various threads that have suggested builds(most of those build makers also give their "general" builds too as they tend to keep their best builds closer to their chest mind you). While I dont think you were meaning to insinuate that the general player base of the servers are relegated to "baby mode" and implying there is a smidge of elitism going on, I do think that it is of merit to mention that calling such things "baby mode" is a derisive misnomer given that most(sans farming of course discussed below) of that cited content is rather normal and compelling evidence too of being that the majority of the player base participate in such content of the game. With regards to farms, that's a different creature entirely, as they build tank/brutes to specific damage type resists (capped for those damage types and not middling) and damage type/positional defenses. So they're a specific subset of game play from what the OP seems to imply their goals are for. The rest of the content such as hard mode task force starred content, is played by a pretty small set/minority of the player base by all accounts of things beyond that.
  19. You're citing a woo woo Australian tabloid rag there to bolster your thoughts in this thread.... so...
  20. Are you ok?
  21. 1. There are sections with build discussions etc and sometimes(not often really imo) there can be info there that isnt necessarily imparted here. Some use it for other social things or voice chat in some missions(though most dont.. or have their own super group discord etc). 2. Im sure there may be some players of other coh servers that come on HC's discord usually because they're playing HC servers, but its primarily an HC locale.
  22. To my knowledge I believe we're restricted to having a max of 3 accounts and they cant be simul script-box run like that either.
  23. As I just mentioned, it was one account doing all the malcontented behavior yesterday. Reason it wasn't banned faster account wise was just that the first GM responder wasn't of the tier of permissions to do so(as they again mentioned in general chat towards the end). Another gm who could eventually got them. Also, Im not sure its a good idea for you to be telling potential malcontents how to troll the game more there either....
  24. Yesterday's channels spam of racism and being infantile on Excelsio was one global account. Took a little bit(as first gm on scene didnt have full global/ip ban permissions per what they were saying in chat themselves), was managing the spam after the person made a new character every other minute until another gm managed to get them full banned. It happens. But at least this community overall has a good ability to handle it rather expeditiously and most know its not something insidiously invasive as snarky pointed out on other games like wow(man the stories I could tell on how bad I saw such things get there too... and probably still is.)
  25. Via the smiley face icon in the options 8th from the left in the editing tools on the top row. 🙂
