  1. It always seems to be a good idea to change up a power you don't like...until they come for the powers you do like.
  2. And now, since I've got 2 of the same attachments loaded on my forum account named the same thing, it will attach both and now I have to figure out how to delete attachments off my account lol
  3. Now that I've come back after a day, I've been fiddling with the various window displays for about half an hour and can't figure out why auto and toggles (really, no effects at all) display under my health window. On other characters I can hide auto powers and unhide them but not even sure how to hide all effects like this. Just wondering if anyone knows what hotkey toggles this:
  4. Agreed. Although I tend to take it a bit further and ponder the things we consider good or virtuous, is it possibly a corruption? At least to a certain perspective. Like I mentioned with love, some consider it a good positive emotion but in certain perspectives (like to your closest friends or family) it could be a corruption that negatively affects other relationships even if not intentional.
  5. This just started happening and not sure what settings change this. When I started playing tonight, the icons vanished and I'm not sure what hotkey I pressed. I can't see buffs on me, debuffs, Assassin's Focus, etc. What am I missing here?
  6. Interesting morals. I kind of feel the same way when reading/observing certain actions of heroes on the forums or in game. To me, having honor and dignity would come somewhat with the elevation of knowledge and power but it's not. It'd be like if Superman used every dirty trick all the time against even the most mundane of villains to speed up his "routine". The strongest most effective "heroes" in CoH will manipulate and exploit the stupidity of their foes despite their overwhelming power....like a dictator just wrenching out every drop or resources from his populous. But then I just get over it.
  7. I do feel it's my duty to pay my dues. Unless explicitly offered as a gift, I usually pay what I owe and am willing to pay more if it's something I felt worth more than the price. If "feels" come into play, it's more discomfort when the opportunity to at least *try* to pay my dues just disappears. It's like having my parents swoop in and just pay for my bills as if I can't do it myself. Granted, I don't even know what that feels like because I'd sooner go without electricity than have someone else pay my bills lol But that's just me. Not saying everyone should feel the same way. I don't feel as bad freeloading off the game, is all.
  8. Then it wouldn't be FIRE, it'd be SMOKE. That is to say, if I wanted Smokey Aura, I'd probably use Dark Armor. Heat is more dangerous than fire and it's invisible...it's the things that catch on fire that are visible. As for Corruptor AT name not working for hero, IDGAF lol. Corruptors were suppose to be villains anyway but if you think about it, you can corrupt people into a lot of things. Corrupt them with politics and consume them, thinking they only need to rely on you for safety, corrupt them with charity, making all other sources feel unnecessary, corrupt them with love to blind their judgement, corrupt them with faith to make the strongest willed fight on beyond their limits. The only line between Justice and Corruption is power.
  9. But I want the AT to put themselves out there to get a benefit and since the set wouldn't have things like the snipe or strong range + utility blast, you'd want to use melee and resort to range when you need it. Blaster already covers using ranged and them coming into melee for the kill.
  10. It's hard to mess up damage, though. If we're being frank, most DPS melees (Tanker, Brute, Scrapper and Stalker) can have a mix of melee and ranged using EPPs. I never got a chance to put my hands on Guardian but balancing the armor vs the support shouldn't be too touch if you just sacrifice some of the mainstays for armor. Think Tarpatch for mez protection and fearsome stare for cloak of fear. If you do that, you can actually give something decent buff/debuff capabilities on par with Defender...but if they don't have the actual buffs/debuffs to min/max them, you can at least utilize the lesser buffs/debuffs to aid yourself/your team. As for the suggestion, I don't like it. Probably the 1 in 1000 scenario where I agree with @Steampunkette but binding it by range has been shown to be buggy with the whole Feral Charge (is that the one in Savage Melee) that gauges damage by range. The game doesn't differentiate damage by range unless it's using some special tech and even then, it'll bug out like how that teleport AoE does no damage if done outside of a certain range. If I were making an Assault/Armor AT, i'd probably limit it to only have weak ranged attacks (like the tier 1, tier 3 and the TAoE) and then making an inherent that specifically charges up your ranged powers by using your melee. Without it, you'll be doing piddly range-wise but with it, you'll be as strong as melee. Rather than trying to make it shine in various respects, just focus on what its concept should be able to achieve. Making something a jack-of-all just means it'll be decently great at everything, making people feel obligated to play it vs other things or just suck at everything so few people play it.
  11. I don't really think much about how it feels. Duty is just something you're obligated to do. It's more a comment on the fact every time I get a chance to play or am notified, it's that the donation quota is already met without knowing it was opened.
  12. I just happened to be logged in when, for the first time, they announced donations are up. Finally got a chance to donate having been playing on the servers for 8 months now lol
  13. If anything, that's just an example why a powerset should conform to the AT's design needs rather than trying to merely reuse powersets types. The way you describe it makes it sounds like the "composition" secondary is at fault when it could also be that the assault sets ported with their power build ups, AoE -regen and its capability to adapt to be both ranged and melee while having armor would make the overall product of both sets contribute to the problem. I'm sure that Guardian AT would be a hassle to balance too. It's mixing way too many branches into one AT that isn't an epic AT. Think about it: ranged damage, melee damage, armor and support that likely lends itself to mass control via stuff like slow patches, mass AoE KD, etc. Lol it's why when I suggested a support/melee AT, I think limiting it to strictly melee is a must unless it's defenses are also rather paper thing...then Assault type set mixes might work easier for balance.
  14. My perspective: these specialty sets are made for that AT. They were designed with that AT in mind thus they don't fall into the same theme usage as more basic concepts like Ranged Blast and Armor and even those aren't all 1-for-1 adaptations. If a new AT is created, I'd much rather they have a custom specialty set made for their role. So to me, you asking why there's no Assault Primary is like asking why there's no Pet Secondary. Not saying there can't be an AT that utilizes a mix of ranged and melee or whatever hodge-podge recipe manipulation sets use, but the hypothetical AT suggestion likely would benefit from making their own blend.
  15. This was certainly something I was considering when I was making a thread on a melee/support AT suggestion. Maybe even lower the END return and recharge as well.
  16. Play Tanker instead, with the up coming changes. That being said, DM is more a single target set with lots of utility. So it's AoE's army great but DM Tanker will shine more. My opinion: don't you dare touch my shadow Maul animation time. I'm open to other suggestions though.
  17. Along with the fact they weren't a large group of devs, it might also have to do with needing to dedicate a decent amount of development time into creating more content to monetize or keep subscribers subscribed.
  18. Either that or being able to color the toxic trails of Spines. The rocket boots though, I think it might have something to do with the UI and not having enough separate channels to customize those aspects. I can't remember off the top of my head but there are other costume parts that have glowing effects I wish I could color but can't. It's annoying. Definitely need the elemental sword options for broadsword and katana if applicable. As for the sword/non-sword options for fire and ice, I remember a dev saying they'd like to work on that. Probably not low-hanging fruit though. I'd gather it requires some new animations. Ice Armor already has a min FX option. I use it on my Psi/Ice stalker. Although, using Energy Absorption does create a more "icy clustering" effect when used. It depends what you're trying to customize the character to be. For example, the reason I want a no-body-spines option is because there is no "ninja throwing weapon" type set that isn't also bogged down by a whole control primary powerset. I tried making the guy Dark/Martial dom but there are just too many "non-knife" powers and claws' "shockwave" effects don't lend well to the concept either. I made him a Spines/Dark stalker on Live and remade him again the same because it works best....but he's not spewing spines from his body, he's throwing knives. Now I could ask for a special "throwing knives" melee or blast set...or just shut off the body spines and it's perfect....Spine Burst's animation might look a bit weird but it's better than nothing. [EDIT] Also, Claws and Spines technically use the same looking stance, it's just one has spines that are customized per-power and Claws is a weapon. As for having claws with spines, that's just pure aesthetics. Some of the hand spines available for the spines set look quite gruesome and I bet a lot of players would enjoy having them as options for their claws melees. The fire armor min FX suggestion I can kind of follow you but if I wanted a character that used "heat" as an armor, I can combine another set with the fire aura options too.
  19. That's not already the case? Sure. Sounds simple enough. That probably isn't simple. That's making me animations probably. Do the animation times match? If they don't, it'll probably be a not-simple addition. ... In fact, a lot of the suggestions seem to be asking for new animations except the no FX for accolade powers.
  20. Post some suggestions for power customization you feel are easy (i.e. knock em out in bulk in an "afternoon") and discuss. Maybe what you thought was relatively easy is actually complicated due to past clarification. Some of mine: Spines: No Body Spines. Basically, just taking the Claws stance for the animations but having the spines on the hands...or better yet, having the option of just claws animations but spines effects. Claws: Body Spines. The reverse of the above for costume purposes. Incarnate ability Vorpal Judgement: Weapon. Just swing your weapon instead of the spin kick. You don't even have to change the particle effects...or you could just remove the incorporeal forms and just have a "smack" effect on all foes hit. I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
  21. I'm not so much bringing into question your suggestion, more implying another aspect not touched on in the post: namely, animation times. If the animation times conform to those of Darkness Blast, you can then borrow the animations/particle fx of this set for Dark and vice versa.
  22. I went to make a War Mace or Battle Axe Stalker. Concept is rife with executioner overtones.
  23. First Impression: You only need to swap 2 powers and the overall "theme" can be replicated by Darkness Blast. Basically what I'm saying is it's Darkness Blast with a debuff "Contamination". Personally don't have an issue with the set or concept. Just think if they make new particles for it, why not retro-fit this set so that Darkness Blast can borrow most of them to broaden its customization. As for damage type variants, while it's cool and all, it's a secondary concern when making a character concept. For example, can you make a "blood blast" by coloring Water Blast red? If not, I have turned sets like Psi Melee into "Cryomancy Melee", Kinetic Melee into "Pixy Dust Blast", etc. It's all about color/weapon customization.
  24. I hope you understand the irony of your post considering the arguments used against the OP.
  25. There's always 2 sides though. Those that look to feel powerful you say should lower their difficulty and those that argue if you want challenge, you should use TO enhancements. Frankly, both are short sighted suggestions and striving for something in between us the goal.
