  1. Fair enough. But also keep in mind that the first appearance of Thanos had people running to the internet going "who is that?" Most had never heard of the big purple Prune of Doom before.
  2. I agree with that last part, and would find the first part interesting. Crazy thought:
  3. Just saw this, and yes, I find Casablanca more enjoyable than Citizen Kane. There's a few of the older classics that everyone fawns over that I've seen and cannot understand the hype. Maltese Falcon was another like that. I thought for sure that would be fantastic, and I ended up feeling bored, and like the movie was lacking something. I'd agree with you on Forbidden Planet. I'd add The Day The Earth Stood Still to that one.
  4. A pair of discoveries regarding episode 4 since I last posted...
  5. Interesting. I'd not heard the story before. Japanese parallel to Greyfriar's Bobby, it seems.
  6. I truly appreciate the input so far, and I'll consider each suggestion, though It's curious that y'all settled for music video takes on COH. I've my favorites in those, but I'm not sure that really gets the game play across to potential players.
  7. Yes it was! And I liked what big-name actor they've brought in. I've one abiding question...
  8. @Tahliah is on the nose. Basically, grab absolutely everything free at the P2W vendor. You might never use it, but it's FREE! ...and some of the free stuff is extremely useful. Also take note of currency things like mission transporter, ATT (all team teleport), and TT (team transporter). While not required, they do really help improve the Task Force/Strike Force/Trial experience, especially if most on the team have a set. Note that TT is quite expensive for a beginning character, but perhaps gifts of funds will make that a moot point.
  9. YouTube channel Level Checker posted this simple and excellent Homecoming "how to" video earlier this week:
  10. Donuts, my good man/woman/small furry creature from Alpha Centauri, your list needs donuts. 😋 (And personally, most cookies would rank higher on my list, assuming they're fresh and not some cold, hard biscuit-in-a-box kind of stuff)
  11. Okay, Laughterhouse is...unsettling, but fascinating look Hero King has that classy, clean-edged look I personally love to see in hero characters.
  12. Help that Outcast finally get that purse! Go take something magical from Azuria! Kill Twinshot and her whole team! Wait... no, scratch that last one. I'm pretty sure that instantly makes you a superhero to the community.
  13. Welcome back! I second the comment from @SwitchFade. There's some wonderful changes from the old game that make it uniquely Homecoming, so its best to take some time to study the patch notes. I'll just point out two things to watch for: travel arrangements have varied much, which includes some improvements and some new 3rd column power options. (Be sure to grab all the exploration badges in Atlas. That's an easy way to unlock a nifty tool for keeping travel powers neat and tidy.) I'll also point out that enhancements have improvements. Gone are the training enhancements, and now you can use an upgrade button in the manage menu (assuming you have cash) for any non-crafted enhancements.
  14. If YouTube rescue videos are to be believed you have to feed them lots of burgers and junk food to get them to trust you. 🙄
  15. That's a very strong look. I'd have given 2 thumbs up, but they only provide me with one.
  16. I had a surprise brief moment last Friday to pitch CoH to my coworkers, and...I drew a blank. I was trying to think of one video I could show them that encapsulated the full fury of a good CoH team fight without dragging parts in it (or at least few of them) and with a clear look (not something fuzzy at 240p, or hard to see because of too many power effects at once). Perhaps I'll get another chance, but I want to have a good one or two vids lined up. Can y'all make good suggestions?
  17. Love what you've done with all four variants. As another Theodore fan, might I suggest an alternate choice of hat as pictured below on my Col. Roughrider character? Admittedly, the game doesn't have a lot of choices to make his San Juan Hill look, but I thought the hat did pretty well. I'd have loved it if the game had enough parts to recreate his Dakota buckskin look, but alas, no.
  18. Well, the ones who are popular are the ones who have successful, beneficial mutations. I don't remember regarding DC, but Marvel does have mutants who have less than desirable mutations, and several who have beneficial mutations but at a terrible cost. In fact, it has a host of those in the latter category: Cyclops, Havoc, Beast, Strong Guy, Skin, The Thing, and a good number of the underground group called The Morlocks, to name a few. Legion and Proteus were incredibly unstable and lived tortured lives. I'm listing both mutants (born with it) and mutates (gained it from some outside source). Oh, and every once in a while, Marvel shows some mutants who have zero beneficial powers and some awful physical condition.
  19. Hilarious! But, it does answer another question I'd had as to why luck charm wasn't hitting the ridiculous levels that were in the original game.
  20. I've been bugged for some time about the auctions and finally managed to catch it in action. Are multiple, unrelated items sharing auction pricing by design or by flaw? Because, as you can see below, two unrelated items, save for their orange status, are sharing the bids process, probably artificially inflating one or both in the process. In this example, I followed both the Essence of the Furies and Synthetic Intelligence Unit for a few minutes. Left pair shows the first time recorded, right pair shows the second time. As you can see, they share the exact same number of units for sale, number of persons bidding and the exact same last 5 bids. When Essence gained a new 500k bid, I snapped a shot and immediately checked the SIU, which had changed to match, both in quantity available, and in that 500k bid. I believe if I were to dig further, I'd find that several items are sharing the same elements. So why is this? Flaw or design? And if design, why?
  21. Found a lost (or abandoned) pet. If missing a howler wolf check at the Excelsior Peregrine Island base portal. I've been watching him throughout the day and no one has come to claim him. Since we lack a pound or humane society, I may have to take him to the mountie at the police station in Faultline. I hear he's good with wolves.
  22. Not sure if that's passable or not. Crimson Scourge is apparently an animal character in the He-Man universe. Not techically a humanoid hero or villain, but I'm not sure how far the game's ban goes on characters in popular works. I'd run it by the dev team first, just to be sure. How about The Red Scowl? 😁 Perhaps terms related to the concern of a threat from Soviet-era Russia: The Red Scare, the Red Menace, etc.? There's Red Death or Red Deathmask borrowing words from Edgar Allen Poe's work The Mask of the Red Death. You said he creates toxic clouds, so maybe Red Pestilence, or Blood Tox (perhaps as one: Bloodtox), or Bloodborn, since blood is of course associated with red.
  23. For worst? I think Wil would get the joke. I'm now thinking I'd genuinely like to see him take the Kirk role in a fan production. Might be interesting. I suppose it would depend on what age they want to portray Kirk. If they want to match Chris Pine's age, then maybe Stephen Amell (Green Arrow). He'll certainly have the physicality for the role. Of course, that leans more towards good casting. If you want a bit younger and a bit more towards bad but inspired casting: Tom Felton. He's got good acting chops, and the blond hair, but is going to be a Brit affecting a Midwest American accent, and he doesn't quite have that Kirk look.
  24. Hmm...well we're looking at it in a comic book sense where a last name has impact. In the real world, there's more than a few names unusual elsewhere in the country that in my region keep popping up. That's because they are related...through an ancestor who first settled the region many generations back. But now they're something like 6th or 8th cousins and don't even know the others as kin. I suppose it could work in superhero sagas as well.
