  1. 1. A lot of the storyline wrap-up felt under-written and cheesy. I got the impression that they made the same mistake as they did with the Thinker arc: write this exciting arc only to forget to first craft a powerful resolution. So the ending feels like the writing staff saying "Okay, we've written ourselves into a corner, how do we fix that now?" 2. I never really saw her creations as anything more than sophisticated constructs. She may call them "people" but they're more like clever high-level automatons. 3. I'd not heard the story of the behind the scenes mess, and so the Dibney resolution baffled me. I thought the actor must have accepted a good role elsewhere and was unable to meet the shooting schedule. I now feel bad for the Sue (future Dibney) actress, for having her role cut short. At least they tried to give her something before she left. I would note that they still have the special effects software for stretchy superhero, and Plastic Man is in the DC Universe. I'd love to see Eel O'Brien brought in as a crook and go through a redemption and origin story.
  2. Personal preference is for Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Catchy theme song, pretty good writing. That thing should have run for 7 seasons. Unfortunately, it got it's wings clipped so that Disney/Marvel could bring us Avengers Assemble!, an inferior production, IMHO (and that of others). I liked how the Avengers: United We Stand brought several of the lesser-known characters to the forefront. Unfortunately, I couldn't get far into the series, as I just found it unlikable to my tastes. I apologize, but I don't remember why that was, just that it must have seemed much less than Avengers Assemble! as I managed to make it all the way through that. I would be down for Disney taking another crack at a solidly-written Avengers animated series, and especially if they started to show the greater scope of the Avengers: Avengers (main team), West Coast Avengers, Great Lakes Avengers, etc.
  3. Watching a reaction video, I was just clued in by the comments to a dreadful cost of actors taking on a superhero role: death threats. Wyatt Russell, who currently plays John Walker, designated the second Captain America, has apparently received death threats from multiple parties because he "dared" to take up the shield. And these came out before episode 4 of The Falcon & the Winter Soldier, where things go to a very dark place for John Walker. I can only imagine what Mr. Russell must go through now. Going even deeper into darkness, apparently several of the MCU actors have received messages of violence and death threats for their roles in the MCU: Brie Larson Hayley Atwell Emily VanCamp Robert Downey Jr. Don Cheadle Anthony Mackie (per a list from one commenter on Twitter) I also understand that quite a bit of hate was stirred at the discovery within The Falcon & The Winter Soldier that apparently Tony Stark didn't pay the Avengers. That they had to eek a living from others' generosity. Think of that: a real world rage because of a fictional scenario that someone decided would be in the script. This world has always had the one-off kooks, at least as far back as the burning of the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders) by Herostratus, who did so for infamy. I'm never fine with these one-shot maniacs, but to hear there are many of them threatening actors over fictional material? Madness.
  4. I agree, regarding the use of the Medal of Honor, especially in light of episode 4. To suggest that kind of action from an MoH receiver degrades the real people. As to 3, however, I'm onboard with that. There have been 19 recipients of 2 medals of honor (as of 2015, the date of my source), so it stands to reason there's the potential, however rare, for a triple recipient. Regarding the audience acceptance, that's a bigger hurt, and I choose to deal with it in another thread I'll start.
  5. Why not start with what you consider the very best costumes you have, say no more than 3 or 4, as a start? The costume thread was really created to showcase what the players think is the best in their portfolio, anyway (Though I've seen more than a few willing to dump quantity in there over quality). Besides, if you push all at once, you'll have some whose eyes glaze over due to the volume and won't take the time to savor your creations. It'd basically be the visual equivalent of Too Long Didn't Read.
  6. Thanks for that! It answers a slow-burn question I've had for decades. With not only the change in name, but change in musculature, I'd long been suspicious they had switched to a relative of Bluto, rather than the same character. Add in the oft-desired chain power set and I can see where this is going...
  7. Episode 4 - ...wow. Thoughts:
  8. Now if the commenter had cited that other NCSoft property, Tabula Rasa, they might have just had a point. TR lost a ton of players after the developers decided all archetypes and power sets were wrong and released an update that literally rewrote every character. I'd been loving my guardian, and was up to level 40, but having to relearn everything from scratch at that level was the last straw, after several major bugs including whole zones that were unplayable, including one with massive movement problems that was ironically named "the Mires". The game did manage to wobble on a bit, but it had lost too much of it's paying player base. It's a shame really. The game had a lot of potential with some very interesting gaming concepts.
  9. Let's have a bit of fun. Cast "bad" but hopefully inspired choices for movies that are well-known, and hopefully we can compare notes. You need not list every part. Example: The Hobbit Trilogy Bilbo Baggins - Charlie Chaplain 12 dwarves - the Keystone Kops Gandalf - David Niven Thorin Oakenshield - Richard Burton Smaug - Boris Karloff Gollum - Peter Lorre The Elf King (Thranduil) - Basil Rathbone Bard the Bowman - Errol Flynn Elrond - Fred Astaire Mayor of Laketown - Charles Laughton Bert, Tom, and William (the Trolls) - The Three Stooges Dain Ironfoot - Edward G. Robinson So, on to you folks. To start you off, either cast your own bad-but-inspired choices in The Hobbit Trilogy, or The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
  10. Not really sure what this writer means by nerfs killing COH. Sure we had some that received a lot of grumbling, but I don't recall any being the game breakers that the writer implies. Certainly not killing the game after "their first major nerf patch", which they imply with the words "Died the same way." I could have wished for a clearer explanation. As it is, it comes across as someone just shooting their mouth off with the "hasty generalization" argument error.
  11. Just a thought, but presentation might make a world of difference in such situations. "Hey, let me have the star so that..." may be well-meaning, but it can be perceived as confrontational, and create distrust. Alternatively, offering to serve, "Hey, may I offer to hold the star so that...", might be a few more characters to type, but it is more likely to be (unconsciously) seen as courteous, more respectful of the recruiter's effort, and shows willingness to serve the team's need. Personally, I used to lead often in the original game, but very rarely do in this reality. I especially avoid it if I'm tanking. I find recruitment, fielding questions, and typing responses to be too much of a distraction to tanking, especially since I'm often taunt-pulling into a corner where everything is close up and visually confusing. I'm more inclined to recruit when I'm working at the edge of the combat zone, like a blaster or controller. I also don't lead task forces as a rule, unless I've run them several times as a common teammate. I've seen too many leads who slow things down because they've no idea what they've gotten the team into (looking at you, Numina TF). I also avoid league leading. I don't fully understand the nuances, and trying to balance teams in the league is another level of headache I'd rather not deal with, especially if a 50 suddenly drops from the league and they were leading a team of lowbies. Then the howls begin no matter how deep into the event you are. I've a great appreciation of those who regularly run the leagues on Excelsior. It's got to be a headache at times.
  12. IMDB.com for one, though I believe they've rotated the F&WS trailers far down the list by now. The "Marvel Entertainment" YouTube channel is another spot, or just type in whatever MCU show you're hunting and add "trailer". There's bound to be a YouTube channel carrying it (assuming it even exists yet).
  13. I'm not sure enhancements have a starter tutorial. You get a bit of one with the crafted enhancements at the Steel Canyon university down the line, but a shiny new user will be offered dual and now single origin enhancements at the starter vendors almost immediately, and it might help that they understand both of them as well as the origin variables, so that they don't buy mutant origins and pass them by mail to their tech alt, or to their equally shiny new buddy in a tech avatar. I'd also think a tutorial laying out exactly what items a new character should acquire from a P2W vendor would help. While the P2W vendor makes a few comments, their more along the lines of a sales pitch to use the service, rather than a good introduction as to what would benefit a new player, and seeing as the vendor has quite a list of goods, I can see it as confusing or overwhelming.
  14. Quite possibly. Just don't expect anyone with claws hanging around. 😉
  15. Usually, once a week, I'll hunt COH on YouTube and filter by "within the last week". I'll watch COH videos that way, which I presume are with the other COH efforts out there, though I do occasionally stumble across one which clearly violates Homecoming's posting policy. I find them mildly entertaining, or often frustrating as I watch some that should be a well-oiled machine by now stumble along well into their 20s. I sometimes get inspiration or a new tactic from watching these.
  16. See, this is why I normally am not a Superman fan (though I am liking the "Superman and Lois" TV series). The comic book writers just come up with whatever they want as a power. No restraint. I mentioned it elsewhere, but they even gave him "super ventriloquism" at one point. As to the Kryptonian cloth, that makes more sense. And yes, I did see a description of his cape being made from the cloth that wrapped him as an infant. However, ever since (at least) Christopher Reeves donned the cape and tights, we've understood that a significant portion of Kryptonian technology travelled with Kal El, usually via some advanced crystalline tech that can replicate and construct. So it make sense he'd be able to construct suits from it's "toolbox", especially at the Fortress. How it gives him hidable boots, however, is a mystery.
  17. My OP wasn't actually asking for removals, just people's thoughts on the topic. That said, Talos exit is to the hill next to the train station, so...close. There's also the matter that the Homecoming developers moved some of the base portals to more practical spots. Should an Ouro exit, as you phrase it, be in an awkward location, perhaps they can look into moving it as well.
  18. And for that matter, who is shoemaker to the heroes? While I can't speak to original versions of Superman, by Henry Cavill's era, the answer should be nano technology, not unlike Iron Man's Infinity War suit. Just have the Fortress making more nanos while you are away. That, or Supes is friends with Flash, so a suit ring is not beyond possibility. Can you imagine hopping up and down at super speed to try to get a boot on in a phone booth?
  19. Sounds like your dad learned from the school of Wimpy, Popeye's pal.
  20. Where does that drop you if you have to go to the hospital? I am one of those who loves the Ouroboros hospital for proximity to getting back in the fight ( and the inspiration vendor is not terribly far either).
  21. What was the original developers' thinking behind the specific selection of zones one can exit to from within Ouroboros via the front portal? Was it every updated as the game expanded? In your opinion, is the list good, or can it be improved?
  22. I was about to try clarifying, then realized I already had elsewhere in the forums. It might explain why I listed the oddball heroes of the JLA in comparison:
  23. Hey, if the Justice League can handle Plastic Man, Elongated Man, Booster Gold, The Question (first), Creeper, and even occasionally Ambush Bug, then a guy who likes embodying the costume, character, and ideals of old movie serial hero Commander Ray Gunn should have no problems fitting in. It's not cosplay if you can actually hero. 😉
  24. I can definitely see a pull effect, or view, being usable in multiple ways. 1.) I'm wondering if a grappling pull can be an option for traps powerset. 2.) whether 1 target or a cone effect, use it as an air attack, like a reverse gale. Summon the wind to blow targets towards you. Might work well for that "air bender" powerset folks sometimes ask for, otherwise might prove an option for storm powerset. Or, really crazy idea: part of a new 3rd column powerset: elemental - giving one power each from earth, wind, fire, water, gravity. 3.) Visually, I'd asked back on live if at least some ice powers could have an optional pull look, rather than push. The idea being that frozen damage happens because the super is just a massive heat sink, instantly pulling heat away from the target.
