  1. I've been pondering over that for a while. On the one hand, it's great to have everything I need from the start. On the other hand, I see what you're saying. I'm wondering: in the future, might it be possible to have the parts immediately, but unlock new textures and patterns on the parts? I thought of this the other day on a task force, one of the Striga Island ones, I think. I do so many I get confused in the details. Anyway, I remember it saying "must deactivate two devices simultaneously", and suddenly realized I couldn't ever remember having to coordinate with a teammate for such a thing in Homecoming. I'm guessing that was changed (though not the text) to allow solo play?
  2. We're still feeling the effects of this months out. My brother in the furniture biz is telling me that there's shortages of foam material for beds and plush furniture due to the Texas freeze literally freezing the equipment that makes foam materials.
  3. Sorry, forgot to add this in on the previous thread before folks read it. It's very interesting you say that because that's pretty much what Roman polytheism did: found comparatives between their gods and heroes with those of other polytheisms, notably Greek religion, and did merges and crossovers, after a fashion, with these.
  4. These would still have value? I mean, I realize the few thousands of us that play the game would possibly be interested but outside of our small group?
  5. My comics are packed away right now, but one of my favorite sets was an early 90s list of comics that crossed over the Doc Savage series being published at the time with the franchise of The Shadow. The end result just felt so right. I was really hoping they'd find a way to incorporate more pulp heroes into future stories together, like Green Hornet & Kato, the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, or The Spider. I still think that would make an awesome movie grouping, though you have to get the stories right, something the previous movies of these characters didn't handle well. Speaking of these, there was an animated Saturday morning show in the 1980s called Defenders of the Earth. Though it had no lead in shows, it crossed the franchises of Flash Gordon, the Phantom, and Mandrake the Magician (adding in Lothar), and adding a younger generation to create a new original work. It was pretty good for its day. In the late 1970s, there was a Tarzan/Lone Ranger/Zorro animated show on Saturday mornings. I cannot recall if there were crossover episodes or not, though it likely would have been Zorro and the Lone Ranger, rather than Tarzan crossing over. "Canon" was being used before Star Trek and not in a religious sense. Sherlock Holmes fans, especially the Baker Street Irregulars, were using "canon" to describe the 56 short stories and 4 novels that Doyle wrote concerning Holmes and Watson. Though there is a formidable library of material (much often good) not written by Sir Arthur, only those 60 are canon, and the standard of comparison for all other works. I'm pretty sure the Agatha Christie fans and the Ian Fleming fans have their canons of works as well, though I'm not as much into that.
  6. That...is crazy, and inspired. It's almost like you're starting to make a The Wiz version of Lord of the Rings. 😁
  7. It's been a while since I researched keyboard switches, so I've not really got the expertise you need. That said, I'm wondering if your keyboard is populated with Cherry clones, which might possibly explain the size difference. There's a bit of a description regarding them at this article link: https://www.pcgamer.com/best-mechanical-switches-for-gaming/
  8. A few years back there was Alphas, which had quite a human side to their characters. I was a bit disappointed when it was cancelled. I felt it had just started a story that would really move the series forward.
  9. Not a big fan of the Super Stunners either. I've no metering to prove it, but it feels like the majority of Freek rezzes go to these guys now. I liked the original take on it, which was that any of the Freeks could rez, and good percentage of them would.
  10. Post things fondly remembered from the original game that you might not have seen in Homecoming. I play Excelsior 98% of the time, so these may be prevalent elsewhere and I've not seen them: Taxibot supergroups - though I see an occasional character designed as a taxibot, the new and easier travel methods have mostly annihilated this. Cow Supergroups - though I see the occasional cow character, I miss the days when a full bovine supergroup would meet up under Atlas before heading out on some crazy mission most likely heavily laced with cow puns. Full instance herding - from the earliest days of CoH, tanks were powerful enough to herd an entire instance to one spot for wild and crazy team slaughtering.
  11. It seems strange that her XX chromosomes would be the unintentional deviation, but admittedly it is the only possibility with what we've been offered so far. I've gotten the vibe that something(s) about Omega was/were a deliberate manipulation by Nala Se, and her gender might have been one point, though I'm at a loss, admittedly, to explain why. As to the "never had a room", I've perceived that as she's never had a room of her own, implying that she's been treated as an experiment, on a cot in a lab somewhere with Kaminoan scientists always observing her, or probably always somewhere near Nala Se, who appears to have a special connection to Omega, though that may be as scientist and favorite lab animal. I agree that her name "Omega" implies she's the last functioning clone, though Nala Se's comment that the Fett DNA "continues to degrade" seems to imply that they're getting more failed cloning attempts, but still getting viable Regs. Alternatively, I've considered the possibility that "Omega" implies an ultimate effort, possibly an ultimate success in creating a super soldier. As to her age, this is a long shot theory, I admit, but if Omega is 9 or 10 with a natural aging process, she'd be around 38 years old in the era of both the Mandalorian and the upcoming Book of Boba Fett. 38 being the age of her voice actress, Michelle Ang. (10 years old plus: 19 year gap between Prequel and Original Trilogies, 4 years for Original Trilogy, 5 year gap until The Mandalorian) That could lead to a live appearance of Omega by Ang in some future work (admittedly with a hair dye, and possible some makeup effects), similarly to how Katee Sackhoff portrayed Bo-Katan both in voice work and live action. Of course, this means checking off a number of unknown factors at the moment: natural aging, survival, location in the galaxy (assuming she's not moved off to some uncharted area as a survival tactic), etc.
  12. It's an interesting thought. She looks, what, ten now? I get the opinion she was created much like Boba: no inhibitor chip, no accelerated aging. I guess it would depend on why she was created, which is probably the biggest mystery for the season.
  13. So it follows the Scots Gaelic pattern of putting a bunch of letters down then completely ignoring them in the pronunciation? Got it. 😏 This thread has been a fun read, but is there really just one legit pronunciation? I mean, isn't that part of accents and linguistic origins? I still get a kick out of watching YouTube videos put out by Brits and hearing words I was 100% sure had only one pronunciation, only to hear a Brit offer something wildly different. And both are technically correct depending on place of origin. You probably just read "pronunciation" in your own accent's version.
  14. somewhere between 5 and 8 at the time I looked. Don't remember exactly. There were a couple of base open-house postings, Kuros Paladin has a prominent "Zapp's Back!" video posted, GamerFourFun had a streamed posting, I don't remember the others specifically. In contrast, though they are low view count, there were several identifying as Reunion players. I believe nearly all of those post solo-play videos. I did just go run the week-filter search again and there's more that have popped up in the last 24 hours. Awesome! Of those posted in the last 24 hours, Global @LastPhantomZoner caught my eye with the following, which at time I post this had 157 views, which is a lot more views than I've been seeing on COH Reunion videos for a while, even after a few weeks being posted.
  15. Awesome! And I just sat down for solo dinner. Show time!
  16. Be happy. Travel powers launch times have greatly improved since 2011.
  17. I'm showing my age by punning off the IBM "flying cars" commercial of 2000 or so to create my title, but still, I've been watching YouTube with the 1 week filter on seeking new Homecoming videos. Considering how many were bellyachin concerned about not being able to post for two years, I'd have thought the big Y would be flooded with new material. Instead I see a handful of new works, mostly showing bases (nice spaceship base, Dacy!) and the rest of the week's posting are solo runs on other emulators. Am I looking in the wrong place? I need COH team videos to watch while my batch of work computers re-image I'm on my lunch break! EDIT: I should note that @Glacier Peak even went so far as to create a thread in the art & multimedia section specifically for posting everyone's new videos, and right now, it's starving to death.
  18. I'm leveling up a bots/electrical at the moment and loving it. While my dps is a tad low at the moment (which may just be me and my design) my team's survivability is quite good, what with both healing and endurance recharge at my fingertips. The dps will come with time.
  19. If I had a penny for every time someone used that old chestnut of a squirrel joke, I'd...oh look! A cardinal! 🐦
  20. Found this on my own today when I did a search on YouTube for how many new Homecoming videos posted on YouTube over the weekend. Not as many as I'd hoped, but your's was front and center in the filtering by date. Really wonderful work, Dacy!
  21. To be fair, the printer appears to have captured that COH...um...effect...rather accurately. One of my characters had the skin-tight spandex and was drawing one too many comments about how "cheeky", as you say, he was. Nothing I could do as it was how the devs designed the costume piece. I liked the outfit otherwise, and as he's a rather upright and modest fellow, I gave him a long cape.
  22. Might have to get a buddy of mine to print my favorites, after seeing this. Those are awesome!
  23. I understand the ad parts are gone, but the graphics I don't think have always been the same, at least I seem to recall some having different ones. If there's graphics, like ZomBCare, are they hardwired into the code, or can they be swapped out? I rather like the idea of posting contest winners' pictures, especially if they're made to be fictional product endorsers. In similar vein, are the theater billboards still changeable? I'd love to see an update to the movie selections. Maybe hold a competition for designing such.
