Warburg Nuke as an Incarnate Judgement Power
Techwright replied to Alchemystic's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Not criticizing just curious: Would that not negate any reason to go work through Warburg and secure a nuke? -
Marvel has always played a bit fast and loose with shapeshifters and what they can do. About the only thing they've shown (to my knowledge) they clearly can't mimic is Wolverine's adamantium (original X-men movie), which makes sense because it's not a DNA thing. But it's clear in this series that Morph's ability are intended to happen on a DNA level. Marvel really should clear some things up though. If Morph can mimic Quicksilver's speed, then why not Rogue's abilities or Professor X's? With current understanding, Morph should be someone capable of running Cerebro in Xavier's absence, and flinging metal on Magneto's scale.

Costume selection screen: Item name sorting
Techwright replied to Techwright's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
absolutely So, if I understand what you're saying, the actual position of the name in the display list is tied to the costume part's usage, and not just the name itself? That's...more than a little crazy. -
Apologies if this has been done to death. I did a search on "sorting" and saw a ton of comments on character selections screen and enhancements, but didn't notice any regarding this. Parts lists on costume features have grown long over the years. This is a good thing, but alphabetization has gone by the wayside in the process and it gets cumbersome to try to comb the list looking for a specific part. I realized this anew when looking into DougGraves thread request for people to create using certain items. I found the talon boots DG suggested (why are variations of these not with male and huge?) but there were 3 listings I found, and one of them was nowhere near the other two. I'd like to suggest the lists be made alphabetical.

Are they by any chance limited to zones with train stations? I noticed after dozens of Kronos attacks in Talos that they seemed programmed to move, slow or fast, towards the train station, with those who reach it successfully hopping on top of it. It makes me wonder how their programming works in a zone without a train station, like Peregrine Island, Crey's Folly, or Perez Park. Do they then home in on the base portal, and if so, what do they do for RWZ where the base portal is deep inside a complex?

Responses: I was watching some reaction videos this morning over coffee and realized there's one thing about the show I find annoying: Wolverine standing or sitting around flexing one set of claws in or out as he makes a comment. It's one thing if he's making a point, such as in the first episode when he wanted another character to understand the real danger Logan posed, but seven episodes in of this casual claw displaying has me almost believing the show creators fear we'll forget his claws if they don't display them at every opportunity. As if. None of the other characters do this with their signature powers, so why make an annoying visual statement at every chance? It's a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, but one that I hope they'll address in the future.

The Penguin (TV series)
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I've long been irritated by Hollywood's even longer habit of forcing actors to pick a stage name because some pencil-pushing jerk didn't like the real name. However, I might actually see a need in this case, and am rather surprised a stage name wasn't forced. Did a quick search and turns out that Myles has stunt doubled for The Rock, so yeah "rather large" indeed. But also... I'm really surprised they used the name Dom Gigante. Are you sure it's not Rocco Gigante? Domenico Gigante is in prison for allegedly committing a quadruple murder in Florida back in March 2023. I'd find it highly ironic if they stuck with the name. Now Rocco Gigante is listed as Sofia Falcone's husband in the DC fandom wiki and other online sources. If the series did make his name "Dom", I'd want to hear why. -
Never read the book. Watch the mini-series in the 1980s. Those that have seen both visual productions (and can remember anything of the 1980s version): how do they compare?
-
If I remember previous dev comments correctly, that would probably fall under "homage" which would be acceptable so long as the costume is not a match as well. It might be as simple as making sure the chest symbol was a Hero Corp symbol. But when in doubt, refer back to the EULA.

He's rather costly, you know. We could get a fine 8 point white-tail deer and a cheery red panda for what feed we pay him, and probably still have a bit left over to give the banjo some strings.

We really need a drum rimshot icon in the Like feature. 😉
-
Apologies if my post gave that impression. It was not intended.

Episode 7 Another solid episode with a good many cameos. The big bad is not a character I'm familiar with (I must have stopped collecting right before his first appearance), but I believe his name was the reason for a name change for our own Citadel.

Okay, thanks!!

Possible spoilers throughout the thread: Okay, I know, I know; What If...? is Marvel property, but you have to admit it's a lot simpler and catchier than saying "What do you suppose might happen if...?" I'd like to hear ideas of what a Homecoming "What If...?" Issue might entail. Something where the Ouroboros crew is tweaking the timeline again and we get to experience variations (not necessarily permanent changes). Such as: What if Statesman...

They basically violated Evil Overlord List #22: No matter how tempted I am with the prospect of unlimited power, I will not consume any energy field bigger than my head.

Clever! But you only play him in Autumn, right? 😉

Huh. I guess the Safeguard missions are why her name sounds a little familiar. With that wiki description, though, I'm surprised she's not aligned with the Hamidon.

I asked something like this a few years back, as I recall and the answer was "somewhat better than expected" (summary, not quote). I believe I was asking specifically at the time about color blindness and how our so-challenged players might need to have some adjustments made. It was the players themselves who responded.

That...is what the Council wants you to think. *nods knowingly, adjusts tin foil*

Good grief! You want me to filter the list to how many? Hmm... Major Ray Gunn - Energy/Energy blaster Control Tower - Illusion/Storm controller Vincent Poe - Dark/Dark corruptor Grill N. Chill - fire/ice blaster Sea Fury - storm/water defender I've also a couple of ones rising through the ranks that will become pretty special, I'm sure. But honestly, I love all my children and cannot put one over the other.

Who is "Blood Thorn"? Is that a named CoT member whom I just don't remember?

It's been years since I did anything significant in the Shadow Shards, and therefore had completely forgotten about the aliens. I remembered the eyeballs, the phantom Nemmies, and some of the winged, uh, thingies, but not these. Ironically, after posting the OP, I opted to go on one of the Shard TFs for the first time in ages, and saw a bunch of these things. Is that earned at Halloween trick-or-treating or in some other way?

I did as well, though I can't recall ever joining a PUG that way. My best friend and I would each dual-box for a team of four characters It was just us getting our lesser characters to 22, which pushed them past the old endurance drain teen levels, and allowed some characters like controllers to finally start coming into their own.

Gratitude. Because all I have against hate is love.
Techwright replied to Aeroprism's topic in General Discussion
Jealousy and elitism. Likely there may be other reasons, but all the negative vibe I've seen over 5 years now can be chalked up to those two: jealousy and elitism. Unfortunately, they are the bon bons of the masses. If someone posts a positive work on YouTube regarding Homecoming, it may get a few dozen views (with rare exceptions), but if someone decides to go elsewhere for their CoH fix and also uses a video to throws fertilizer in the process, it will score hundreds if not thousands of views. Simply put, people like drama, whether real or fictional. As Alfred Pennyworth has said "Some men just want to watch the world burn." Don't let it trouble you. For my part, I just quietly block the negativity channels and ignore social media that cannot at least speak with courteous and constructive critiques. It's ironic, because their own willingness to voice without restraint is what silences them to me.
