Apologies if this has been suggested before. I'm not really sure what to call it, so I'm not sure what to search for. Wardrobe case? Costume case? Costume dummy? Other? I'd like to suggest the addition of what I'm calling a wardrobe case to bases. Each glass case would be used to display one player character costume. Coding is set up to display a costume on a mannequin in the case by the SG leader designating a SG member's character name and costume position on their costume change screen. An alternative method, useful for the very small or 1-person SGs (we know they're out there), would be a switch that merely accepts a costume number, not the character. A player in character looking at the case will see their own costume from that space #. So a row of 6 cases could be set up so that Player 1 sees his/her first 6 costumes, while his lone SG member, player 2, looks at the case and instead sees they're own first 6 costumes. Questions: 1. Should the mannequin display faces, skin, and skin markings? Or should body all be set to white? How would that be handled for Spectrum features, especially if the "costume" is essentially just a fully spectrum body? 2. Should the mannequin display auras? Examples:

Played original Homeworld 1 back when it came out. My skill was terrible, ended up invoking cheat codes, but man was it a great game. I bought Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak a while back on a deep-discount sale, along with a handful of other games, and will eventually get around to it. I'm assuming, because I've never worked with it, that the Epic game store is going to require installation of their own software? If so, that might be a bit off-putting, but getting the 2015 remastering is rather tempting.

Wait your turn! We've already got ninjas. I'm still waiting for war elephants. When are we finally going to get those, huh?

Why is power armor so uncommon in NPC groups?

Crystal-based, most probably. -
Nice costume! (too bad it won't be around long)

Just curious: The picture you posted showed the other player had the "Help Me" banner over the character name. Did they state they were actually new? I know some seasoned players take that banner for a lark. -
Resurrecting this thread to ask a simple question: Has anyone got solid confirmation that The Book of Boba Fett season 2 is moving forward? I've only found a smattering of rumors that the show possibly started work on season 2 quietly and mostly seeing comments suggesting they've not even started. None that I've read suggest that it's been cancelled, but it's sibling Star Wars productions tend to move forward by 6 months of the season ending, if not sooner. Yes, season 1 had some tremendous flaws, and people seem to remember them first, but it also had some great material as well. I see it as fixable in a season 2. If the delay is due to putting more effort into the script, I'm all for it (though I hate that the writers' strike will push it back even more). I think I'm most concerned that the financial shakeup at Disney might mean the axe for this. If they're headed that way, I'd prefer at least a season 2 to repair the damage.

The Flash was my favorite Super Friends character when I was growing up, despite only being a guest star a couple of times. Naturally, I was over the moon when the 1990s series was announced and crushed when it was canceled. I thought it was a fine production with a good cast and great effects for its day and age. My only problem, confusion really, was how they were making Iris West into a self-centered New Age jerk, and clearly shaping Tina up to be the love interest. I'll watch the video. 1990 still had one foot in the campy world of comics that dated back to the 1966 Batman. So some of the episodes might seem a little over-the-top by today's standards. I've wondered if the changing attitudes towards camp were affecting the show, but then that doesn't explain how Warner Brothers managed to crank out three wretchedly campy sequels throughout the 1990s to 1989's Batman.

Regarding why the delay for What If...? It's intended spring release was about 4 to 5 months after Bob Iger returned to the helm of Disney. It's possible that his behind-the-scenes re-balancing of the company contributed to the delays. Regarding that unusual, upcoming What If...? episode: While not every episode in What If...? is known, how cool would it be if Squirrel Girl is first introduced to the MCU by means of a What If...? episode? (I'm saying that without having watched about 1/3 of Phase Four. She might be in one of those for all I know.)

Loki vs ...Murder Castle: The thing almost writes itself. This Loki has become reluctant to kill. From his admission, he doesn't like to do it, but sees it as a necessity to achieve goals. So what happens when this reluctant killer, lord of mischief and misdirection gets wind of a sinister hotel full of traps and false-walled passages (malevolent mischief and misdirection) with one who actually enjoys killing in the center of it? I'm left with two questions: Will reluctant Loki kill, and will he enjoy this particular kill? Comments on the What If...? hidden content:

"Oh no. Not again." 🪴 I recommend a badge with a towel on it for a reward. 👍 Joking aside, the Newsboy TF idea is kind of cool and fresh. It's like those episodes of TV shows where the protagonist, who normally commands a high price for his special skills, talks to a person on the streets and realizes he needs to do something pro bono to help the "little man" or the poor neighborhood. This is a really interesting concept. I'm not sure how a comedy TF would be received, but one memorializing fallen players would be great. The question is: which one? Perhaps something a little different could be done. Set the start in a zone where there isn't a TF. The ice skating pond zone comes to mind because several of the fallen are depicted there. Have a spokesperson, but the others standing behind him/her bowling-pin fashion, showing their support for what is being said. So in essence, all of them are giving the mission, one group to another. And/Or have TF require you to make contact with members of the fallen to advance the story at points. But if this, do something to make it meaningful. All the TF participants should have to interact with the contact in some way, rather than just standing around while the team lead goes to another zone to tag the doctor with the information mcguffin.

Why is power armor so uncommon in NPC groups?
Techwright replied to biostem's topic in General Discussion
The CoT idea could feasibly be a thing in the lore, since CoT capture people and replace their souls. A captured Freak might get the "treatment", though I suspect the CoT have a certain disdain for Freak, Vahz, and maybe a few others due to what they've done to themselves. I'm struggling to remember, but isn't there a portal mission (or one of the wards?) where a Clockwork group are magic or at least partially so? -

You don't consider Trolls or Rikti to be mutant groups? Okay to be fair, you may be using one viewpoint out there where "mutant" means "born with" and "mutate" means "given sometime after birth". Wolverine is a mutant (born with healing powers and bone claws), Spider-man is a mutate (received his DNA-altering via spider venom). The other groups mostly reflect changing viewpoints in society. Had history played out differently and we had computers and video games in the 1960s, many of these groups, maybe all of them would wear spandex and capes. Instead, in our generation that's seen as a bit dorky, so we have leather body armor and military fatigues. Longbow at least looks like they borrowed a page from S.H.I.E.L.D. attire 60 years ago. -
honoroitisfantastic Would you pvp for prisms?
Techwright replied to honoroit's topic in General Discussion
To post my answer to the OP I'll need to address both parts: 1. Prismatic Aether - wrong carrot to dangle. With sincere respect to the Homecoming team for their dedicated work, the current lineup of Prismatic Aether rewards, with the possible exception of the mini look, hold no interest for me whatsoever. If in the future, new options are released for rewards, I will revisit this point. I recommend rewards like unlocking coloring options for those current costume pieces with one color appearance only, chest emblem relocation/reduction (to left pocket, right pocket, on non-coat costumes, or upper arms), or 3-color costume pieces. I will happily look into grinding P.A. for such, and possibly other things. 2. PvP - While I'm not opposed to PvP, I am opposed to throwing casual players into a PvP zone with twinks (do they still use that word?), that is, players who have a lot of time on their hands to study and craft an elite-enhancements character to completely dominate a zone. If some arrangement is made like WoW did back in the day to separate these two groups, I might reconsider. (And I'd note I was a twink PvP player back then, reasonably good at it. and approved the change. I'm not saying all this because I can't do that.) I've no idea of the plausibility of it in this game, but if arena PvP could be created where a player enters a "locker room" and is given the choice of 2 or 3 pre-designed enhancement layouts for his/her power sets, balanced as best as possible, the same ones as everyone else would have for those power sets, then you remove the twinking and can focus on the skill. That would be of interest to me also. I basically do this quarterly with my friends when playing Halo. I...do not rock at Halo...there's a reason I chose the nom-de-guerre "Gandhi", but I'm at these events enjoying my time because it is purely skill, or lack of it, not any elite crafting involved. I realize this may not be a popular take on the topic, but it's my take.- 140 replies

Specific to those two, I wasn't thrilled to learn Vic had been terminated. Why not have two Questions? Or put another way, why not make the character more questionable to the public by confusing them even more? One could work days, the other nights, but on occasion together, just never more than one face shown in public.

Indiana Jones and the... Dial Of Destiny?
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Just a guess, but Lucasfilm's other little project, The Mandalorian had a huge leap in facial de-aging between the last episode of Season 2, and season 2.5 The Book of Boba Fett thanks to their recognizing the talents of one YouTuber and hiring him. I'm going to guess that part of his contract was to teach the others at Industrial Light and Magic, which would lead to the results you observed. -
I was wondering the other day when we'd get a second helping of certain Marvel shows. Nice to the see the trailer for this one. Even more excited to see the Chicago World's Fair portrayed. The Devil in the White City is one of my favorite non-fiction books, and I'm very interested to see the fair visualized. This trailer may just have been cut to show the best bits, but this season looks to be a hum-dinger. Any word on when What If...? season 2 drops, or at least the trailer?

How to ruin it for your teammates in one easy power
Techwright replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
That's a reasonable question, but the answer is "no". I thought of it during the TF, it was actually my first thought, so I was monitoring for it. And there was the last time all the defenses dropped. I'd become a bit paranoid by then. We were in the reactor room, I'd moved closer to the team, enough to be under the bubble, but I deliberately only fired off a few shots. Sure enough, the defensive toggles all dropped together, and my endurance was still there. Sadly, I think you're right, but hopefully, it was a one-session glitch. I did take the character and run the Yin TF again (keeping the combat chat up) and nothing happened. I also ran a Sister Psyche TF (lots more Freaks) and again nothing unusual happened. I did have a Super Sapper take out my endurance once during the latter, but I saw it coming. I was just too close to him in the crowd to move off quickly. This I'm used to, and I always try to identify and keep my distance from the Super Saps, but sometimes it's just not possible due to the chaos. There was no one with domes or bubbles on either team. My thanks to all who contributed to this thread. I tested what I could, and could not duplicate the issue beyond that one session's repeated events. I've one other thing to try, and that involves getting a character with the requisite dome and bubble powers to team with me and see if any of them drop the toggles. That's just dotting i's and crossing t's. I think it must have been a glitch, like Snarky suggested. -
I am so glad this game does not have this in canon.
Techwright replied to LegionAlpha's topic in General Discussion
It was well past the 3-second rule. A Tyrant redemption arc would be interesting, and we'd get "Statesman" back (hopefully with a cooler costume), but if we need someone in the top position again, I'd really like to see a redemption arc for ....spoilers due to new players....... -
I would point out that, although Paragon City and the Rogue Islands are nexuses (had to look up the plural form 🙄) of planetary super activity, they are still just two places on a large rock. I see it as entirely possible for other, previously-unknown global groups to eventually see opportunity and either move in or perhaps be utilized as a mercenary force to some group already in the area. That said, I go back to what I stated earlier, which is that the dev team is limited, and, unless additional prospects join their numbers, the design of any TF/SF would be limited by what is currently available, or could be easily made available by their current numbers. This might (and I'm just guessing here) involve residual models never used but left in the code, if such things still exist. Or it might be Frankensteining models together, which I think I'd read was used on one occasion. What might happen, for example, if the Outcasts started using Superdyne? Would we get Super Troll Outcasts? That sort of thing.

Interesting that you bring that up. While we have TF's served up by trainers, I wonder if we could bring the other two members of the South Korean W.I.S.D.O.M. team (Rose Star, Spark Blade) into the game as Task Force givers. They're defined, they may even have models in the files of the game, but were never put into it. Those two do seem like they have room for more story, and Matthew has demonstrated cool and smart thinking in intense situations. Just what you'd want in a credible TF giver. Do you refer to the War Witch in Pocket D? I thought I'd heard she was one from an alternate dimension, though now that I think of it, I think someone suggested she's the Prime Universe War Witch, but can only manifest as alive within Pocket D. I admit my knowledge is lacking for a concrete answer. Hellions; I can't recall ever hearing who their boss is. A TF might emphasize that. Skulls: I don't recall all the dialog, but were there not more relatives or Lords of Chaos than were brought down in the Eagle Eye arc? Seems reasonable some would be out to free/restore the Skulls. Outcasts: Frostfire's story has a resolution, but I'd always thought he was just one of the highest ranks, not necessarily the highest. Also, would love to see a TF, whether before or after Frostfire's resolution, where we learn there's a leader for each powerset, overseeing training in their particular ability, and collectively acting like a war council or joint chiefs of staff. We'd have to take each down for a victory. Freakshow: Although I like them, I'm not really into seeing another with them. There's the Penny Yin TF, and the Sister Psyche TF is still available. Both heavy on Freaks. You even get a bit of them in the Numina TF, and they're the focus of one of the Reactor Trials. I'd rather let another villain group shine. It could be. I'm only asking for the contact to be in-game already. As I think about it, I wonder if inspiration could be had by the original names for some of these groups, names that were discarded. Like "Skeleton Crew". That said, there's material that hasn't been touched much that might make a good TF/SF, and any new character will require designs and models. That's a lot of work. That's an interesting idea. A TF to drive a foothold into recovering Galaxy City, would be a fresh perspective. I wonder if such a thing could be spun into a dual feature: a TF and an SF both hoping to create a foothold into Galaxy City, each for very different purposes, but having to interact with the same characters, items, buildings, and situations.

I've a character in the mid-20s now that I was surprised to discover was squishier than probably any other character I've played. There's not really any defenses in the first and second power sets, at least nothing that provides a designated protection. He's pretty much the "best defense is a strong offense" type. I'd like to know what's probably the strongest minimal choice(s) from the third column: 1. Combat Jumping 2. Tough & Weave together 3. Maneuvers 4. Other? I deliberately didn't mention the archetype or power sets because I'd like to look at this from an any character situation, if possible, just in case I see something like this on a future character.

I hope I didn't imply banning them. That was not my intention when I said "violation status". I agree that making them aware of policies is the way to go. I've mentioned it before on the forums, but back in 2005 I created a flat out duplicate of a favorite hero completely disconnected mentally from how that violated the rules. Someone was kind enough to point out the situation and I'm very grateful they didn't handle it otherwise. I drastically altered the character immediately. That's really all I'm asking here. I'd actually like to see creative homages that don't cross the line. I like creative. It's why I hang out in the "post your costume" section.
