  1. First, I agree, an amusement park would be a great touch. That said, this is war-torn Paragon City, so I suspect it would be a derelict amusement park. Perfect for creepy "five nights at freddie's" atmosphere. Second, agreed on 1 and 9 looking like "detached houses" suburbia. I wonder if such a zone could offer a different take on the game somehow. Less on-the-street fighting, more behind-closed-doors stealth and espionage. PDA-6 is a tad small for what I'd consider a major international airport, but it fits if it's an older, somewhat shorter airport by the sea. Someth like La Guardia on Long Island. That would be interesting. Wonder if it would be named after former mayor Spanky Rabinowitz, like LaGuardia is named after the former NYC mayor? Regarding shopping centers, I'd be for it, but with consideration that the in-game year is 2012. In other words, either an indoor mall that's well past its 1980s heyday. Either now closed or struggling to survive. I'd even be willing to borrow a page from this current decade and find that part or all of it is being converted to high-tech data space, like Amazon.com has been doing with old malls. I'd also love to see a contrast: the tired old mall and across the zone it's flourishing replacement: the park-near-the-store shopping park. Agreed about the skyscrapers, though I'd point out, having observed many of the big cities in the eastern USA, that there are patches where the sky scrapers and high-rise structures return in small groupings. Indianapolis, where I lived for a few years in the 1990s has this effect in the northeast at Keystone At The Crossings, and in the northwest with the trio of high-rises towers affectionately nicknamed "The Pyramids". My blushes! Thanks! I do look forward to seeing what they do with the Warriors. Might we get enemy Warrior masterminds that have defeated the monsters of Chimerora in combat and enslaved them to their will? Of course, they'd have to find their way to there first, but then, Warriors do like to collect magical items, so perhaps there's a way. Not surprised. I don't remember the exact count, but over the years I've seen multiple "official" versions of the city's map. I suppose that just makes the superhero comics experience more authentic. How many versions of Gotham City are floating around?
  2. You got a swell deal for sure, used or not!
  3. Looking back, that's interesting timing. The USA national law to install seatbelts didn't go into affect until Jan. 1, 1968. This TV show ended in 1968. Mandatory use of seatbelts happened at the state level, and the first case (New York) didn't go into affect until 1984. Meaning, at the time of this show, seat belts were considered a non-standard, even luxury item. It makes no sense, unless this clip was from the end of the show and was promoting the new law for installing seat belts, or the writers had a great deal of foresight and realized the impact the show might have on kids in the first (me) and second generation of reruns. Very interesting. (I confirmed the dates with Wikipedia. I only remembered this because in college I used to spend hours tooling around in my close friend's 1970 jeep, which had no seat belts. I suspect the law had a delay or wave clause for certain vehicles.)
  4. Whatever it is, I assure you it is nothing compared to the ebil mind control of a certain green and white aquatic siren convincing the world that a 50 cent cup of coffee should be paid for with $5.50. Insidious...
  5. Well.... Bit of a mastermind in style, but more of a mind control/traps controller, I think.
  6. The story may be public domain, but out of curiosity, if the character resembles, say, Disney's iconic look for the apple-tainted individual, does that create a violation? Expanding on that further, if a work of any kind is derived from a public domain item, but the formal title for the new work is "SoAndSo's [insert fairy tale classic here]" does this make the new work a protected product at least in regards to the look, and possibly modifications to the character, story, or name?
  7. 😲 What kind of car was that?? A Hot Wheels? I had my transmission rebuilt in May 1998, it cost me $2,000, and that was a 19-year-old car. A rebuild under warranty 7 years later on another car cost $5,000.
  8. CoT - i'm going to politely disagree and say we should have less of them. Somewhere in the original game's existence they went from a group in a specific level range to a group that's just all over the place. Not only do I think this watered them down into a generic magic group, I've grown to despise seeing them. I do agree, even in a smaller profile, that their depth could be expanded upon more than just "we're here for your bodies". Cabal - agreed. Honestly, I'm not sure how any group in Croatoa could be expanded to believable functionality outside Croatoa. Legacy Chain - who now? 😉 Fir Bolg & Tuatha - I never picked up on the idea of citizens being forceably converted into their numbers. That's actually terrifying and as you say, an interesting direction not taken. Midnighters - the differences between the members make them interesting, and all the current members (not Darren Wade) come off as somewhat classy. I do think Montague gets overused, especially with the potential for so many unique characters under one roof. I do like him though. These other groups we've named are all cookie-cutters, defined only by their rank or specific power set. Midnighters begin as interesting individuals that happen to have powersets. I assume they have ranks though I don't recall discussion of them. Midnighters also have the greatest potential out of all the magic groups for fresh stories. I can imagine them tweaking the nose of Mender Silos once again, or maybe more, by opening additional time portals. Imagine going into Paragon City's past: Roaring 20s with Mayor Spanky, Brass Monday, Dec 7, 1941 fighting alongside Atlas against the 5th Column, the potential is boundless, even to the point of finally stirring the ire of Oroborous leading to outright conflict.
  9. Biostem has the gist of it. If you've not discovered the following yet, go to the zone Orobouros (you'll need access to its portal) and start doing the missions from the various Mendors found there. I believe you start with The Pilgrim, though I don't recall the minimum level. Their stories will gradually fill you in on The Coming Storm. Mender Ramiel, who unlocks at level 50 and introduces the Incarnate System, has a mission that proves particularly enlightening. But unless the current development team moves forward with it, the full effect of The Coming Storm, as well as the full details, will never be known. Still, we have enough to give a foundation and some tantalizing clues.
  10. I don't have an SUV, but when I was considering cars, I went to the family mechanic and had a talk, since I know little more than how to swap a car battery. I'd repeatedly heard "Honda" or "Toyota" and even occasionally "Subaru" from friends. His summary was interesting. Toyotas have, for some time apparently, been chain driven, rather than belt driven. That means you're unlikely to have a belt fail while you're driving. As one who has had this happen multiple times on multiple cars, this was important to me. He cautioned that this wasn't to say Toyotas would never have a chain break, but that it would be very unusual (and more costly to fix, probably). He couldn't recall the last time he'd had to deal with a Toyota chain, and he'd been in the biz for decades. He also stated that he'd actually never seen a Toyota transmission failure either. Again, he cautioned that it didn't mean it wouldn't happen, just that they seem better built. As one who had transmission problems and outright failures on most of their "American" cars, with bills up to $5,000 (and an even pricier one case that warranty covered that took a month due to replacement defects causing a month of rentals), this too was valuable info. Plus most Toyota drivers I've spoken with say they get 250,000+ miles from their vehicles, assuming good maintenance. I'm fine with my Camry, but were I ever to need an SUV, I'd personally start looking at Toyotas, even old ones. In a group sense, they seem quite durable. One other little tip: find a friend who is at least 6 foot tall and/or broad-waisted. Have them sit in both back and front seats. A lot of auto designs, even good-under-the-hood designs, fail to take body measurements into account. If the foot space in the rear seats appears to be an after-thought or designed for 5-year-olds, cramping your friend to the point that even a minor accident might break a leg bone, you might want to reconsider. If the tall person has trouble getting into the front seats because the curve of the door frame is too low, or they are bending their neck because the ceiling is too low, again, you might want to have a think on it. I'm just over 6-foot and I eliminated a Subara at the time I acquired my Camry because what I thought would be a spacious back had me squished in to the point of needing a chiropractor. I tried a few smaller SUVs and found these problems exist in that class as well.
  11. No underscores like @ArchVileTerror had in their post?
  12. New, short Ahsoka trailer dropped: Some things noticed I'd not seen in the others:
  13. Hence the reason the Steel Canyon Fire Chief stands around and desperately blows his whistle for heroes to help out. No station, no trucks (no staff for that matter!)
  14. Ha! But yes, no poaching. Each will be selectively picked from already domesticated stock, humanely raise at special farms that feed them an organic, heirloom, non-GMO diet, and will be given the finest martial training currently available so that they'll be completely ready for maximum carnage.
  15. Pretty spiffy! (Is that still a word?) Can you do this with other zones as well? Red, Blue, Gold?
  16. The title use of "crowdsource" brought me here thinking you were referring to financial contribution to acquire the workers needed to do said updates. I'm guessing that's not how you're using it? 'cause that would probably be a red flag to NC Soft. As to our contributing, last I knew, there was a standing invitation from the development team for others to apply to join their efforts. I'd help, but my IT skills, such as they are, do not lie in the realm of coding. As to the AE, there are those who do create content to demonstrate what could be done in the game. I've heard there's one or two that in time past created alternatives to the Citadel Task Force for example, though I never played through those.
  17. We do have the no-fighting ice lake holiday zone where several of them hang out. It's actually year-round, though apparently not many know that. Not to stomp on the Mausoleum, per se, but I like the museum or current idea of placing avatars around the cities. It gives an illusion of life, not a reminder of death. I know if I'd ever merit up to getting memorialized when I take the last hit, I'd want my Major Ray Gunn hanging out somewhere near Talos' tram station, no doubt pitching his offbeat retro-future adventures to the amusement of others, rather than a plaque on the wall in some stone structure. Now having said that, when the Grim Reaper finally stakes Snarky (hopefully centuries from now) a mausoleum does sound like the appropriate memorial.
  18. We do have fingerless gloves. they're called mittens. 😛 Perfect for our fingerless, mitten hands. Joking aside, I'm assuming by "full tights" you're referring to the extended length up the forearm? As opposed to the fingerless gloves we currently have that end at the wrist?
  19. While you make a good point that I'd not considered, that of the costumes being local rather than server side, I don't really see it as necessitating the SG base designer giving up one or more of their costume slots. That would be where the base design would need to come into play: something where you could upload one costume design file. The person picked to display a file would have to know/be shown how to forward a copy of the file to the base designer, or as you suggest, let the assigned player upload it. Perhaps it could be done that the Assigned Player could notify the game which costume slot they want used and the game uploads this. Obviously, you're not going to have many costume cases as a result, but it would be able to display several.
  20. So they'd be functioning in a swarm somewhat like MM minions or the Tsoo.
  21. I second that! And with cold/ice powers I believe it nicely fills a little gap in the MM goons lineup. I'm not so fond of the Red Caps, but that's just me personally. I'm willing to keep an open mind on the subject. Would that be a healer? (healing tree?)
  22. Me, I'd stop at 42. There's something about Mary.
  23. I personally find Homecoming's upgrade button incredibly useful. It's one of the dev team's big wins in my book. That said, there's one adjustment I'd like to suggest: an optional version that is either part of the main UI, or can be a button for the powers trays. Currently, if I ding in the middle of a major firefight, to keep my powers at full strength, I've got to go into the management screen and click on the button. Pretty easy, but I've been in a few such cases where the fighting is too fierce to black out the screen for a few seconds. A button or main UI feature should allow me to hit it while maintaining visual contact in a big brawl.
  24. Apologies if this has been suggested before. I'm not really sure what to call it, so I'm not sure what to search for. Wardrobe case? Costume case? Costume dummy? Other? I'd like to suggest the addition of what I'm calling a wardrobe case to bases. Each glass case would be used to display one player character costume. Coding is set up to display a costume on a mannequin in the case by the SG leader designating a SG member's character name and costume position on their costume change screen. An alternative method, useful for the very small or 1-person SGs (we know they're out there), would be a switch that merely accepts a costume number, not the character. A player in character looking at the case will see their own costume from that space #. So a row of 6 cases could be set up so that Player 1 sees his/her first 6 costumes, while his lone SG member, player 2, looks at the case and instead sees they're own first 6 costumes. Questions: 1. Should the mannequin display faces, skin, and skin markings? Or should body all be set to white? How would that be handled for Spectrum features, especially if the "costume" is essentially just a fully spectrum body? 2. Should the mannequin display auras? Examples:
  25. Played original Homeworld 1 back when it came out. My skill was terrible, ended up invoking cheat codes, but man was it a great game. I bought Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak a while back on a deep-discount sale, along with a handful of other games, and will eventually get around to it. I'm assuming, because I've never worked with it, that the Epic game store is going to require installation of their own software? If so, that might be a bit off-putting, but getting the 2015 remastering is rather tempting.
