Mittens > Claw hands 😉 I think I mentioned it before, but the whole, use this weakest power repeatedly to charge all other powers was quite off-putting for me. For STO, one of the things leading to my departure (and until the end of ST: Enterprise, I was a huge Star Trek fan) was how every space battle devolved into both ships tightly circling each other. I tried several ways to prevent this and establish a better capital ships match-up, but the game's A.I., such as it was, was not having it, and always drove its ships into a tight spiral around mine. No skill or tactics, just brawler slugfest.

Assuming Chloe is game for it, I'd very much like to see her portray Quake in the live-action MCU. Actually, I'd like to see the whole "Agents of..." gang in the MCU, even if as a cameo for most of them. The moment that cut their universe from the MCU was a crying shame. I'd like to see that TAHITI is a magical place in the MCU as well, and that there was a different outcome for the team after that one all-important event. (And might that give us the amazing Mallory Jansen as Madam Hydra??)

I've felt for some time that this has got to be the course of action. What streaming viewing needs is a one-cost, one-stop shop: a cable-like setup with streaming platforms becoming channels and an overarching organization managing them and the costs. Chances are they'll reduce the fluff in their offerings to remain in the top few streaming "channels" people watch, perhaps they'll even go to certain bundles. ("Here's a bundle without children's programming. Here's an add-on bundle of Bollywood options.", etc.) Actually having two or more of the overarching services will keep things competitive and prices lower, but this current setup of every streaming service being an island unto itself is unsustainable in the long run. Average people simply do not have the resources to maintain every subscription, and will eventually tire of having to swap services every month or two to fit within their budget.

What’s the most bombastic name in your stable
Techwright replied to liveevil2000's topic in General Discussion
Redside, probably The Eggsterminator Blueside is kind of hard to call: Fightanic (war mace/invul. brute) FreezOr Burn (Ice/Fire blaster) And the Majors: Major Ray Gun Major Atom Danger Major Battlecry -
Okay, that was a funny analogy! LOL More detailed thoughts:

Episode 7 - more comments later when more time, but I felt this was a strong 4th place in the series so far. The previous 3 episodes felt stronger, but episode 7 was no slouch and gave us several interesting moments (and one huge, unexpected cameo).

Solarverse's SFX Consolidated List of Mods

Might just finally get around to making a technological symphony character broadcasting this. It's an interesting combination. I would not have expected the light-hearted Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca built for damage alongside more obvious weighty choices of Carmina Burana and Also Sprach Zarathustra. -

Right, then: Who are you? Where's Jimmy?

The Flash (movie) teaser drop
Techwright replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
So I have now seen it. This movie felt like it was having an identity crisis (and I'm aware of how pun-y that is in this case). At times it felt like it was trying to be Bill & Ted's Justice Adventure, sometimes it felt like The Odd Couple, and every once it in while it felt on like with Man of Steel. -
Just hypothetically, as I suspect the coding would be insane (and on an old engine, at that): What would a "mimic" power set look like? I'm talking something like the Peter Petrelli character in TV's Heroes, where proximity to a person of another power allowed one to mimic their powers, or maybe even X-men's Rogue, where touch permitted that. For my part, I'm imperfectly thinking along the lines of two possible scenarios: 1. Third column pool powers: let's say that rather than having a listing of specific powers, we have a listing of specific tiers. Upon acquiring these, the player can utilize a short-ranged AoE to move among other players and see a list of their powers within the tier. Pick one, and it locks. Don't like it? Release and try again. So it functions a bit like a WiFi connection. Grabbing this during leveling up will provide a random matching-tier power to start with, so the player is never without something. Note that although this would not work for duplicating one of their own powers, it would allow mimicry of another player's identical power within the same tier, so it potentially doubles up on a potent one in the right circumstances. Alternatively you get the tier, but not control of the selection process. A wider AoE range will, upon activation, grab a random power within the tier from someone nearby. Don't like it? Release and try again, losing valuable time in the process, potentially. With each of those variables, the power remains locked until you release it, even upon exiting a team or instance, and even after log-off/log-in. This way the player is never without something to aid them, even if it proves inferior. 2. Similar to Third Column pool powers but on a big scale: Either first or second power set is the mimic power set. Problems: This is just a rough-cut idea for fun, so there's bound to be problems, big problems at times, the biggest I can see is: how are enhancements handled in a set like this? It would almost necessitate a special enhancement set, unless the mimicry baseline choices are refined further such as choosing defensive or offensive as a limitation for all future mimicking, in addition to the tier. Again, this is just for kicks. I don't consider it a suggestion (though perhaps that could change if a really cool, thorough, doable idea comes forth), I merely am curious to see how others would play around at creating such a thing.

Perhaps bad info was relayed to me, but I'd heard that the comics went a step further and decided Black Fury (what a great idea for a name) was actually the son (or grandson?) of White Fury, allowing the original to still cover the WWII years, while the Sam Jackson version was allowed to carve his own path.

Episode 5 Great episode. Slower pace, for the latter half, which may rankle some, but I rather liked it. Not everything need be full-throttle turbo.

I've claimed this. I actually had Nick O'Time back on Freedom in the Original Game, so I was very surprised to see this.

I've not played the game at all yet, I don't know the intricacies of true cloning, and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night (old American joke) but simplistically sci-fi wise, a female clone of a male doesn't seem that crazy: just remove the Y and patch in a second copy of the X. I'm sure real world geneticists would explain why that isn't possible, and I accept that if so, but this is a game. I'd have more problems with a male clone of a female NPC. Where'd ya get the Y? The problem with picking a Superman or a Batman is that these characters change over time in the comics as well. George Reeves was wonderful as an early Superman, but probably would never work in today's vicious, hard-hitting stories. Likewise Adam West dominated a generation, but would never work in any portrayal 1989 or after. I do wonder what Christopher Reeve could have done with an alt-universe villainous take on Superman, and I'm not talking about the red kryptonite wannabee of Superman III. I'm a huge fan of the Shadow, and Alec nailed the role. Unfortunately, the story direction made a few choices I disagreed with, namely portraying an origin for the Shadow, and adding some campy elements to the story. The Shadow's origins should remain confusing. Its part of the character's charm. I'd have much preferred to do away with the origins, and have a modern tag scene where Margo is in the mansion talking to Lamont Cranston and turns to answer the door chime, only to find herself looking at...Lamont Cranston, who smiles and says something like, "I bet Kent Allard here didn't let you in on our little secret." With the Shadow scowling in the background. And if you know the books and comics, you know that Kent Allard is not the end of the rabbit hole. I would add that I loved Billy Zane as The Phantom, though his movie likewise suffered from campiness in the script. Green Hornet & Kato: Van Williams & Bruce Lee
