Was in Peregrine Island the other day when I realized another possible badge: number of snipers eliminated. Possibly a lower count, like say, 50, since there's only 1 or 2 in P.I. at a time, and many would be trying for the badge.

Is it the same mechanism they used to change the theater posters? 'Cause those could use some cycling as well. And yeah @SnoBahr, I'm all for new billboards occasionally in-game. It would be nice to see an ad for the tiki beach area they added to Talos, for example.

Might work. I think I'm back from an errand in the next state over by then. Try seeing if we can get a full team.

Did Paragon City Ban any cars made after 2013 or so?
Techwright replied to Zep's topic in General Discussion
I think you answered your own question. Just try being an ordinary citizen standing alone at a bus stop for 15-20 minutes in this city. (Actually, that might make an interesting mini-game. Play an ordinary citizen, see how long you last through a set of daily routine instructions: wait at the bus stop, walk to lunch, survive an attack in your office, etc.) -
By that video's definition, I'm a geek, with traces of nerdism: IQ and obsession. Always have been. There are several sci-fi properties I've studied out pretty thoroughly. For decades, my friends referred to me in terms like "the trivia guy" because I just read and retained so much. The funny thing, though, is that I took a geek test several years ago (I think it was on website "Major Geek"?) and I only scored 38%. There's some truly serious geeks out there apparently. I'm also not a...I'd guess you'd call it a "pan-geek". I've met people who are obsessed with everything pop culture, and my mind just reels at the amount of time needed to get to that level. There are large chunks of such culture I have no interest in. Anime and manga, for example, although I was a fan of the early stuff brought to the State back in late 1970s: Robotech, Starblazers/Spaceship Yamato, etc. Curiously, my geekdom does not dramatically play out in CoH. I'd probably suggest I'm a well-informed casual player. But when I read people studying the finite details of a crafted set and how it works better for one specific controller over another, my eyeballs roll back and I risk falling asleep. It's probably the math involved. I scored reasonably well in math entering college, but other than geometry, I've never had an interest in it.

Apologies, you lost me. Are we talking billboards in-game, or something to do with the website, as this thread is about? Perhaps there's a terminology for the website/forums I've not picked up on?

Depending on the time/day, I might be up for it. I've got a couple of responsibilities to relatives that weekend, but nothing requiring my presence all the time.

Cleaning up my Sig and noticed a broken link...
Techwright replied to WanderingAries's topic in General Discussion
I'm assuming the old link had more information than just the server/shard status since that is at the bottom of the HC Launcher? -
And still you missed that spider. Depends on how well you play them.

Did Paragon City Ban any cars made after 2013 or so?
Techwright replied to Zep's topic in General Discussion
My guess is that they're likely parked on some salt flat somewhere still waiting on the cars' computer chips. What's wrong with the 1970s? Cars, I mean. Let's not discuss the rest. My former 1979 Chrysler New Yorker drove like a dream. It was a great car if you overlooked the lack of more elegant aerodynamic designs and it's tendancy to drink gasoline like...uh...whatever drinks gasoline. -
I'm still game for it, the challenge is that real life keeps making a consistent schedule for entertainment a challenge. Perhaps others have the same issue. If so, might we work something out like is done for Mastermind Mondays and Tanker Tuesdays? All-call instead of supergroup? That might help, even if it won't be alliterative. I did notice a slightly higher population gold-side this afternoon.

I do miss the cysts and voidstalker. Once I started becoming skilled at the game, the cysts were one of the few things that made me start sweating. It was frightening and exhilarating at the same time. I gather they were nerfed because people stopped putting kheldians on the team lest they encounter these, but that's just sad. Disconnect these from Kheldian presence, or make a kheldian presence like a 1% chance increase to seeing them above norm, and hopefully the team will not be so biased going forward. I likewise miss the Quant gunners who could wreck a character. These current ones shoot like they're using Nerf ammunition. As to playing them, I've only played 1 warshade, and I really wasn't sure what to do with the human-form. I really should go back and review him soon.

I've never seen an equivalent in my time on gold side. My guess is that, by the time of Going Rogue, the kiosks were seen as obsolete by the OG developers. That said, if the information could be tied to another graphic, then perhaps both the red and the green newspaper stands in Praetoria could be keyed to display the information. Alternatively, though they have posters rather than information screens these prevalent pillars in the city might do:

Where do the announcements for the theme of the week post, and when? I've seen these results for some time, but never saw the announcement of them.

If the Super Stunner is the only one they're running away from finishing, you are a lucky bug. A great many of the Penny Yin TFs I've run of late have half to 2/3 of the team bolt for the next big mob group with only 60%-70% of the Freaks dropped in the previous group. That's not counting Freak rezzes. There's a disconcerting opinion out there, based on player "posture" (that is, how they act and move characters), that finishing a group is beneath them and is for the "lesser" members of the team to deal with. In reality, it is the responsible members of the team who remain behind to clean up. I've even had one or two PYTFs where they smash through every group to the PCPD door and then are baffled why the door won't open. It's the trail of mess left behind, "teammates". If they're new, I can partially forgive them for not understanding the rez situation, but even then, finish the group off. Honestly, these people will drive me to join the I ♥️Snarky fan club. I can only hope the club has T-shirts in my size.

I'd thought the same thing when I first signed up. It was a tremendous disappointment to learn that we only had "X" number of spaces for naming and that past that point, it would start overwriting previous stuff.
-
Some of that stuff resets over time, does it not? And from what I recall some of the other stuff multiple people can name and it will accept each one, because the name is specific to the account.

Agreed, however, I understand that Starfield will focus on 100 star systems with 1000 planets, a comparative few, and greatly expand the possibilities planetside, while No Man's Sky focuses on the vastness of its galaxies, with trillions of planets and moons, but a minimal amount of variety on the planets. A microscopic quality focus as opposed to a macroscopic quantity focus. Unquestionably it will be a competitor to NMS (assuming it is built right. Anthem still sticks in my craw), but the differences leave room for both games to co-exist.

Visiting Praetoria after 13 years, Like Reading an Old Favorite
Techwright replied to FFFF's topic in General Discussion
I recently re-entered Praetoria after a long absence as well, so I asked the forums for insight for archetype choice for solo play gold side, and the dominant answer was "brute". I now have a super strength/invulnerable brute working through the Loyalist story, and ambushes (so far) are not a threat. -
Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Russell Crowe Far more violent than anything I've seen before regarding Kraven. There's a red-band trailer out there, too, which is surprising, because this one is more violent and bloody than I'd thought a standard trailer would be. I'm puzzled by the revelation that Kraven has powers. I thought the comics established that he was a normal human highly honed to combat and hunting, with possibly an occasional boost from rare witch doctor potions.

"Main purpose" = "he was ordered to do so", though if anyone even has a chance at fixing that sorry mess, it is Filoni.

Badges: puzzled why teams never seem to go for these ones
Techwright replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
Oh, bother...has it reached law stage? I thought it was still around the transition from hypothesis to theory. -
Wait, I came in 2nd?! Progress!
