The Broken Brutes Effect (please buff them)
Solarverse replied to blackswan's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Settle down there, Beavis. The part that I am referring to should have been evident, but since you want to get your panties all up in a wad over it, I'll explain to you so that little kids can understand. The game has gotten too easy, that was his valid point. -
The Broken Brutes Effect (please buff them)
Solarverse replied to blackswan's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
These threads are popping up more and more and the reason why I think they are, is that more and more people are growing tired of EZ PZ mode and wish the game was more like it was pre issue 5. The OP has a valid complaint, unfortunately the damage has already been done and there is no fixing it without a Vanilla server being created. A lot of players love the game just the way it is, so this won't be an option for this server. I'm sure eventually somebody out there will come out with a Vanilla server and maybe keep the new powersets. Until then, all you can do is make best of what you have. -
On this subject I think like you. If it had been me I would have at least responded with a "Sure, no problem, not very attached to the name anyway!" or "Sorry, bud, I had this name on live too and most players know me as this character." Either way, you would have gotten a response, and I think most people would have also given you a response of some type. However, there are some people out there who are just a bit odd and don't want to be bothered by anybody, with anything. There are also people out there who are easily offended and it takes very little for them to place somebody on ignore. It's also possible that the person who has the name is a little kid, who's parents took chat off their PC so that they could not interact with other players. My daughter being one of them. I will not let her interact verbally with players because...well, some players are down right vulgar and extremely disrespectful. Just a few reasons why you are not getting a reply.

Why don't you play on the Villain Side?
Solarverse replied to Raught19's topic in General Discussion
So clearly is was a bad idea for many reasons. I think the reason I gave and the one you gave are probably both culprits as to why CoV failed. Although I was unaware that it was considered a failure until after the release of Going Rogue. From my personal perspective, CoV was not as thriving as CoH, but it did have a good amount of players playing red side and finding teams was not all that difficult. I played a Stalker and an Ice/Cold corruptor on red side, and leveled many randoms to various levels, not once did I have an issue finding teams until a few months after Going Rogue. Suddenly players were migrating over to blue side, leaving red side feeling very barren. -
I say that because with some people, it doesn't take much. One tell asking about a global name might be enough for some people to ignore you. All I am saying is that this might be why they are not responding.

I know you can check to see if a name is taken before you even create your character. As far as names on live, you need to remember there were several servers, and chances are multiple people had that name across several servers. I had Grave on Live, that was taken here so I never had access to it. Oddly enough I have never seen anyone running around with the name so I am sure it is not only taken, but not being used either. But that's the breaks, I just had to get more creative than the next guy and came up with the name Cuss. That worked too. 🙂 Good luck, man.

Last year we did this it was a blast. A lot of folks participating, some better at finding us than others, but fun nonetheless. We don't make it easy, either. Except when Rose gives out clues that is! 😠

Very possible they have him on ignore.

Awesome! Good teamwork!

I am willing to bet you have an option selected with Null the Gull that *might* be causing this. Which is what made me curious if what I said above is not the culprit.

Oh I do agree with you. I also blame the fact that we can change the difficulty of our missions. In the old days, you just couldn't do that. So you played at whatever difficulty the game told you to. There was none of this, "Let's run everything at +0!" I have actually had people on these very boards tell me that if I run something higher than +0, and they are on my team, they would quit my team. Nobody wants to run anything at +4 until they are all IOed out. In other words, very few of us are left that still appreciate a challenge.

That hitpoint change would have to be quadrupled to make any real difference, but I would be all for it!

Why don't you play on the Villain Side?
Solarverse replied to Raught19's topic in General Discussion
Other (Explained in forum post) Here is the thing...when the original developers announced they were going to allow red side archetypes play as Heroes and blue side archetypes play as Villains, I instantly knew through educated reasoning that this would be a very bad idea...and the end of red side as we know it. I knew everyone would gravitate to blue side over time, leaving red side a deserted wasteland. I implored the developers to reconsider, stating that one of the primary motives to play red side was the ability to play the unique archetypes that was only playable as a Villain and without that incentive, they would only be creating a huge problem in red side population. The vast majority of players already played on blue side. It was already a problem before the change. However, it was doable at the time, because that incentive to play red side still remained...no red side, no Villain archetype. There was already a way to play with Heroes in place with Co-op zones such as RWZ. There was even a Task Force that could be played by both factions to unite the Heroes and Villains from time to time. It would have been a far better move to expand this, but sadly, expanding the idea of Co-Op zones was bypassed and they went straight for Going Rogue. After the initial craze had ended, what ended up happening was exactly as I had predicted, players started leaving Red side in favor of Blue side. This was happening on live and is not a unique situation to Homecoming. Sadly, this is not something that can be fixed because the damage has already been done. Because of it, I never play red side unless my SG or close friends ask me to run a Strike Force. Once that is finished, it's right back to blue side I go. Playing red side has lots its value and has lost its luster ever since they allowed Going Rogue to go live. That was a huge mistake, and now that the craze has ended, that huge mistake is very evident. When I tried to warn people about what the outcome of this was going to be, I was basically told to shut up because this is what the players wanted. So be it, I shut up as I was told to do and then I just sit back and watched it all go down exactly as I said it would. Now it's too late, damage has been done and I digress. -
Here is the thing that you don't seem to want to acknowledge, there seems to be more than just one clas of priority bugs. The Devs have a history and have been known to fix both major bugs and minor bugs. The Devs can correct me if I am wrong here, but it would seem the Devs have a system of two categories in which minor bugs get prioritized and major bugs get prioritized. Out of the two lists, they pick one or two from each category and they implement a fix for them. Now, I don't want to speak for them, but this is what the evidence shows. Your argument indicates that you do not see the pattern when you say things like, "this is not a priority bug." You cannot say if it is a priority bug, because it may very well be a priority bug in the category in which it resides. If I am correct about how the Developers chose to fix known bugs and since it is ultimately up to the Developers to decide what bugs will be taking priority in the categories to chose from, I can say with great relief that I am very happy that choice is not up to you.

Yeah, it's not about what is better, because everyone plays for different reasons. I think what it is more about is what is better for you. Looks like those who have posted this thread feels what was better for us was the way this game was when it was new, before the days of IOs. Before IO's support classes were very much fun to play and I felt like I was contributing. These days, any support class I play, I just don't feel like I am making any contributions to the team. The only way I feel as though I am actually contributing is if I play a Brute or a Stalker or a Blaster. Anything else, I feel like I am just along for the ride. At the end of a Task Force, when I say, "Thanks for the team!" what I am really saying is, "Thanks for carrying me!" if I play anything other than Brute, Blaster or Stalker/Scrapper.

Rose still plays, she's on Excelsior. @Rose
-
Stalkers trumps all of them. You want to play Super Reflexes, play a Stalker.
-
I to play a lot of Exemplared content, the trouble is with this though, is that players these days don't want to play the game unless it is easy. So lower levels they all play everything on +0 which means mobs still melt. They don't want a challenge. They won't start playing content on +4 until they are IOed out and geared to the teeth, where again they are ripping through mobs like paper. Either way I go about it, mobs are getting creamed, nobody wants a challenge, and my toggles feel very pointless. 😞
-
That would be great, but I am willing to bet they would be a bit hesitant because players have a tendency to take anything like that as a "promise" to fix them. Maybe if they put a disclaimer at the beginning of the post? Haha!

Ouch, that's a pretty harsh bug. Most people skip that power, so it makes me wonder if other Kins have that issue. I have a Kin Defender, but I skipped that power, so I can't test it.

I thought this was going to be an advertisement for Cake.

Email/Character Items unclaimable and now disappearing

I still use FRAPS. It worked fine 15 years ago and it still works fine today. Not sure what the youngins are using these days, most likely some streaming service. -
Email/Character Items unclaimable and now disappearing
Solarverse replied to Unknown Magi's topic in Bug Reports
Would you mind making a video and showing exactly how to replicate this? Sounds like it happens often enough that replicating it should be relatively simple. I'm sure the video would also help the bug team as well. -
@Replacement A lot of changes were forced instead of made options. Which if I ever gave up on MMO's, it would be for this very reason. Khelds, used to have that bad ass sound effect, I for one loved it. I guess enough people disliked it the Devs changed it. It should have been made an option that players who disliked it could disable it ON THEIR END...but instead it was forced on us all. Same with the Taunt sound effect, or the AoE Heals sound effects, or the sound effects for certain shields that phase out over time...none of which I wanted nor asked for, but all were forced on me. Changes like this should NEVER be changed unless made an OPTION. Unless it is painfully clear that a vast majority of players hated those sounds, it should not have been forced either...and I am pretty sure none of those sounds bothered that vast majority of players. It's changes like this that honestly linger in my mind as a list of changes that were made that stole a small part of the game away from me...and it's not over. It is never enough. Now we have players asking Devs to remove the stacked sound effects of Foot Stomp, or Ball Lightening, or probably any other sound effect that stacks when hitting multiple NPC's. I can't stand that Developers make these types of changes without making it an option. What is even worse, is that once these changes are made, the likelihood that we will EVER see them return is next to zero.
