  1. I honestly didn't feel like that was so much different than Batman. 😄 And yeah, you're right, my views clearly do not represent anyone other than myself. I found him to be iconic, but that does not mean everyone else did.
  2. So in another thread, there was a discussion about bringing back Statesman. In that thread, there was only a couple people who would prefer Statesman not vanish forever, however the vast majority who touched on the topic was very much against the idea in any form of any kind. I could not fathom how players can let go of a fan favorite so easily. Statesman was the Superman of Cryptic Comics. In my mind, you don't just throw away an iconic hero like that forever. You not only kill storyline continuem, but also rob future generations of being able to enjoy the character as we did. I also felt as though in the comic book world, it is not uncommon to bring a hero or a villain back from the dead. It opens up more storyline opportunities. I fell that in a world full of wonderful powers and possibilities, the sky isn't even the limit. So I honestly could not fathom how anyone, much less the majority of people responding, could let go so easily, as if Statesman was garbage to be left in the trash. So my mind did what it does best, and I began to psychoanalyze the situation. I ended up coming to the conclusion that this must have something to do with the hatred for NCSoft, or the hatred many have for Jack Emmert, and not so much any disdain towards the character or anything logical about bringing a hero back to life. I did this because I couldn't comprehend why anyone would not want him back. They gave their reasons, and I simply could not accept those reasons, especially in a comic book world, one of which I personally am very much a part of even outside this game. I literally write scripts for comics, one of which is my Avatar. I honestly felt like there had to be some other underlying reason for not wanting Statesman back, and because of this, even offended one of the posters for dismissing their reasoning for not wanting this. To be clear, I still disagree with their reasons, however, overanalyzing it was bad on my part. I shouldn't have but I jumped before I looked at where I would land. So now, I want to hear what you all think of bringing back Statesman, why you do or do not wish for his return. For me, as a script writer, I would bring him back fresh in a powerful storyline, mixed with emotional moments, epic battles, double crosses and sinister reveals. I would give him a costume make-over, strip him of his previous powers and maybe even turn him into a Kheld. Maybe I would strip him of any and all powers and make him an Energy Rifle/Devices Blaster. The possibilities are endless. Seeing Statesman as a Tech U.S. warrior could be interesting in my eyes. How about you? What would you prefer, and why? And I promise not to be dismissive this time. :)
  3. Sure thing, give it Greater Psi Blade's animation and we have a deal! 😄
  4. I would hope that the suggestions above would cover that though. I did mention the Frost and Freezing Touch being two major factors. Would would you have suggested in its place?
  5. I'm all for this. Anything that adds more options to the game will most likely be something I can get on board with. I'm not really a hearts kind of guy, but even I have a Rainbow cahracter named Spectraman. So who knows....maybe there is a heart in me somewhere. 😄
  6. Or even bring him back in energy form...or bring him back as a Peace Bringer. I write comics. My avatar is one of them. I can think of ways to use Peace Bringers to bring him back. Give him a new costume, take away his old powers and grant him Kheldian Powers. There are ways to do it without bring back the last known Statesman. I get that some people are not all about bringing back the dead...but this is a game based off comics, that is a part of what comics do. It comes with the territory. Of course we are going to have people who don't want him back...this is the forums, where nobody can agree to anything. If the Devs only made decisions based on things everyone agrees with, nothing would ever get done and nothing would ever change. So the best thing a Dev can do in this case, is find a half way point...which is what brought my idea of changing Statesman to a Peacebringer came from. It brings him back, but you can bring him back completely different from what he once was. That, on top of @Shadowsleuth 's idea, should suffice. Meanwhile, since Statesman would not be replacing Ms Liberty, the OP can have his wish and swap her out for whoever. In the end, everyone *should* be happy because both sides got a little something out of the deal. And @Player2 , I honestly was not intending to offend you, man. Hope you don't let it bother you for too long. No hard feelings, my man.
  7. I honestly don't care. You get offended way too easy rather than just saying that is not the case. I said I suspected that may be your reasons. All you had to do was say I was wrong. Pretty easy, people tell me I am wrong all the damn time on these forums. No sweat off my back, man.
  8. I can respect your opinion and disagree with it all the same. Sorry I dismiss it, but that was just my thoughts. Don't let it get to you, just because I suspected your reasons were possibly a bit personal, does not mean I am right or even claim to be right. I just wanted to give you something to think about. And if that is all it takes to offend you, then good...glad it's over, lol. Go back to your safe space, bud.
  9. I think the main problem we are having here, is more about Jack Emmert and less about Statesman. Statesman was the Superman of this game. Jack Emmert is not synonymous with Statesman. I have never linked the two together. Jack Emmert is an idiot, Statesman was not. I'm not entirely sure why nobody wants Statesman to come back outside of that...maybe it's easier for others to let iconic characters go forever rather than bring them back in some epic story. Whatever the case, I'm sure there is enough people who would like to see him come back to justify bringing him back. One thing I have learned, the people on these boards very RARELY reflect on what people say in game. Because of this, I take what is said on these boards with a grain of salt. I respect your opinions, I just can't help but thing there is some biased underlining reasons that you all have for not wanting Statesman back. Maybe he is a reminder that some South Korean Company shut the game down. I'm sure killing off Statesman was not intended to be permanent. Sadly, we will never truly know. In any case, I stand by my opinion and I say I am a huge comic book fan, I play this game because of that very reason. One of the things I loved about Comics, is if they killed off your favorite heroes, you knew eventually they would bring them back. Imagine where DC would be today without Superman...Imagine if Batman's back didn't heal. Imagine if Green Lantern stayed dead...if all those iconic heroes stayed Dead, DC would be a pretty boring comic book to read.
  10. I hear ya, and it is funny as hell, however, this is a game based off of comic books, and usually when they bring back dead characters, they do it based off overwhelming fan requests. So going by this logic, I still vote bring him back and put him in Atlas as a retired Hero who only serves to train up new heroes.
  11. Unless they are a sidekick...then they typically stay dead, lol.
  12. You don't read comics, do you? And @VileTerror, you must either be trying to troll me, since you follow me everywhere leaving a confused face on my posts, or...you are simply one confused individual and smoke tons of pot. My posts aren't that confusing, dude.
  13. I would rather bring Statesman back to Live in a TF and place him in Atlas.
  14. Don't even get me started over that Nerf. My main on Live *was* an Invuln/EM Tank. That nerf happened and I shelved that Tank for life, never broke him out again. He died with the game upon shut down. And here we are, I still refuse to play Energy Melee until ET has been un-nerfed to its original state.
  15. Wouldn't bother me if they even adopted Greater Psi Blade's animation. It was actually Cremate.
  16. MAKE IT HAPPEN, THANK YOU. GO. DO EET. DO EET NAO!
  17. I guess I am just not understanding, man. I just looked it up and found that on average, the recharge times and duration of animation times are almost identical. Breath of Fire has a .4 second longer animation than Frost, Frozen Fists has a .33 second longer cast time, Incinerate has a .67 seconds longer animation than Freezing Touch and Fire Sword Circle has a .57 second second longer animation that Frozen Aura. That is a total of 1.31 seconds difference between cast times. If we want to calculate Cremate in to this, since Ice does not have a comparable power to this, you can add another 1.5 seconds to that. However, since Ice does not get a counter part to that which grants damage, Ice is still the loser by a country mile. Even taking DPA in to account, Fire still out classes Ice in the DPS department. Having said all of that, like I had mentioned before, swap Cremate for Combustion and that gives Fire Melee the Umph it needs to be where players can feel comfortable with it. When Fire Melee was first introduced to anything outside of Blasters and Tankers, I was shocked to see Combustion taken off that list. The extra AoE in Fire Melee was what set that set aside from others. Swapping it out for Cremate was just highly questionable then, and from what I am seeing on this thread, it only gives evidence that doing so was a bad idea. It stole from the set's DPS capabilities. I say swap Cremate for Combustion, bring Incinerate in line with Freezing Touch, and you have yourself the Fire set it should have been. You do not need Splash Damage to pull off your desired effect. Doing what I mention in this paragraph should make any Fire Melee player as happy as Kool-Aid in a summer breeze.
  18. I think it delivers, just not as much as people would like. I believe when the Devs replaced Combustion with Cremate, that caused this. IMO they need to put it back to what a Tank has and the set should be right as rain. Like I said, I can get on board with replacing Cremate with Combustion, but I can't see adding Splash damage to Fire attacks. I would also be okay with adding a short stun effect to fire...it even makes a bit of sense, being set ablaze can cut the oxygen from somebody, that on top of suddenly being set ablaze can stun for a short time until you figure out your actually on fire. So I could see a very short stun being added to Fire attacks. However, giving the set more damage with Splash damage, I just can't get on top of that. I say replace Cremate with Combustion and you fix the set.
  19. Okay, but that has more to do with damage mitigation and less to do with damage output. This thread is about damage and less about survival mitigation. Scorch = 70.02 Frozen Fists = 68.82 Fire Sword = 105.6 Ice Sword = 90.84 Incinerate = 172.0 at T5 Frozen Touch = 200.6 at T8 Fire Sword Circle = 121 at T8 Frozen Aura = 97.72 at T9 Cremate = 137.9 606.52 Total 457.98 Total I'm just having a hard time seeing how Fire needs any kind of Damage buff. I could understand if the OP was asking for some type of mitigation, however, the OP is asking for Splash Damage, essentially asking for more AoE. If more AoE is what the OP wants, he would have been better off to ask to replace Cremate with Combustion, just like the Tank counterpart. However, as far as a damage buff for fire? I just can't get on board with it. Maybe you can convince me, I'm trying to keep an open mind here, but as of right not, I am just not seeing how Fire can be underperforming when we have sets like Ice that has been doing far worse since the start of this game.
  20. I don't understand how or why it is having trouble when it out classes Ice Melee in every aspect.
  21. They are the same as Ice Melee though, and more damage.
  22. Fire is extremely powerful, most often the highest damage in game. I think giving it any type of boost will just make it overpowered. The only thing I would change about Fire is the fact that Fire Brutes don't get the Combustion power, they lose out on an AoE. Other than that, they are good.
  23. Flurry slotted with Hecatomb. Problem solved. I promise. 🙂
  24. I don't know if I should congratulate you, or to tell you to get a life! Haha, totally kidding, makes me wonder where it caps at though...if at all. That would suck if it flips and starts you over like some old Atari score, lol.
