  1. fair enough thanks for the input PK
  2. doesn't seem to be working. Error message: Ticket system seems to be entirely for in game issues so posting here. Please relocate as appropriate. Thx
  3. both powers in their own right are good but you will find that particular combination very difficult to play solo, and probably tricky as a novice. Mind control is good because many opponents are weak to psionic powers, but it is (mostly) single target enemies and doesn't do a huge amount of damage. Similarly, FF is good defensively on a team, but doesn't have too much damage for it and won't help keep you alive easily. If you're in a regular team, like a supergroup or similar, your team mates will benefit greatly but I'd suggest you go for something more solo friendly initially while you figure out what you like.
  4. both are good options but I have a great disco character, Earth Wind and Fire who rocks! Try them and decide for yourself, it's not like you don't have enough slots!
  5. I get the OP's point and I have a great deal of sympathy with it, but I also have a lot of sympathy with the idea that preventing people playing the game they want is just wrong so I'm kind of torn. But, I strongly suspect that very soon, there will be a real tail-off in numbers, and things will level out significantly. The novelty of having our city back again will wear off, especially for those for whom this is "just another game" and don't have the emotional investment in it that many of us do. This in turn will mean that those who stick around will want to explore the content and play the game as intended, using DFB and DIB for quick level boosts on occasion. Thus the perceived problem will resolve itself in short order. But look on the bright side, those who want to run the content can, and there are plenty who are very happy to do so! When you're off in Kings Row, chasing down villains and righting wrongs, it doesn't matter what the others are doing.
  6. That is factually incorrect. Have you tried to run a DFB recently? ;D ;D ;D ;D
  7. There's a compelling argument for it. The descriptions say something along the lines of "there's a chance of reducing the enemie's endurance and returning a small proportion of that back to you." Sadly in practical terms, it's negligible, on both counts. Even an even conning (white) opponent will function perfectly well unless s/he has absolutely no End left and even then they regain it very rapidly. Any chance of End recovery from most powers is so small to be unnoticeable, so it's hard to see Elec's secondary power feature as anything more than window dressing. Especially when up against more than bosses, who are impervious to the effects. Personally I'd like to see most attacks have a -End component and the signature powers (VS included) as having a -Recovery element. If you have the potential to reduce an AV to 0 End and stop him attacking even briefly, that would be great, and would reinvigorate a set that is desperately in need of loving.
  8. Did not know this, thanks. KB is incredibly useful, especially if you solo a lot. It's a great way of preventing your foes from touching you, and thus hurting you. Most players struggle with it because they want their opponent locked down right in front of them. Don't disregard its value. And if you want to cause complete chaos you could go for a FF/Storm troller, or an En/Storm corruptor and throw the entire map around! :D
  9. I don't think that's an accurate reflection since Sentinels were a SCORE invention coming after sunset. With the right sets, that's exactly what a blaster is capable of, but most people tend to play them as functioning blappers. But the entire concept of blasters was to be a glass cannon, albeit that the execution of such ideal is open to debate. VS is ok, as you correctly point out, it's essentially a free attack but you have to be aware of the limitations of the power. However there are caveats, notably that Elec blast (and to an extent Electric Manipulation) feel weak, not because they are - the numbers are comparable with most sets - but that Electric's secondary power, Endurance Drain is about as useful as a rubber duck in the Sahara. Most powers have a useful additional effect, Fire's DoT or Energy's KB are good examples of what works but the -End of Electric really doesn't work well. In PVE, it does not inconvenience enemy mobs, and none of the "standard" powers restock the players End with any noticeable effect, regardless of the description. In PVP it takes great skill to discommode an enemy player and then one has to rely on them not having any blue insps. Oh... wait, that's PVP, nobody bothers with that any more. Electric Blast is not a bad set, but it does play rather underwhelmingly. VS is too high up the tier - it promises a lot, and delivers significantly less, and most of the powers in the pool could do with a passover. Personally I'd be happy if the made the -End component worthwhile, then you've got something worth having and a set with a meaningful feature.
  10. You're not an Otis Redding fan are you? :)
  11. ok further investigation seems to be Robotic Arm 3... somehow it doesn't seem to like that.
  12. Nice to be here! Hope to catch up with some old friends! :)
  13. I've just tried to create a new character and I cannot enter the game. When I get to the Register screen, the Next arrow is greyed out and I get the message "Please purchase costume parts from the Paragon Market or remove them from your character." This is only my 5th character here, so I'm a bit flummoxed. I am able to save the character outfit ok so I've no clue what's going on. Any suggestions? Nothing in the creator tells me I'mnusing wrong parts.
  14. my strongest trollers for solo are Dark/Poison (also works very well in PVP, as an aside) Mind/Storm is highly survivable, but has low DPS so you would probably want to rely on a lot of temp powers to solo properly. I've had great results with Fire/TA, which I found more suited to solo play than Fire/Rad or Fire/Kin because it offers better control than those, thus keeping the enemies off you. Similarly Plant/TA is very strong. Come to think of it, Plant is a very underrated set. Much is going to depend on your personal play style of course so go to town :)
  15. Scarlet Shocker checking in! @Riff from Defiant other notable toons on live are Snowfreak, Huntsman Strauss, Magma Mage, Spandex Ballet, et al
