  1. I think it's a can of worms that is best left unopened 🤣 Truthfully, I don't know. Each of my characters is different but they are all aspects of me. Some are simply drones - run them to 50 then parked forevermore except on high days, holidays or when that specific toon is needed. Others, well they become much more significant - and I know where they stand in the CoH universe but it's largely fluffy and mutable. Three examples: Scarlet Shocker will always try and do the right thing, to keep Paragon safe. But sometimes she "slips up" despite her best intentions and of course has been red side (because badges and progression reasons) Barbed Quarrel is one of the few things missing from the end game: An unalloyed Cole absolutist. The founder of the Praetorian Imperial Secret Service, she wants to complete his mission on Primal Earth. Huntsman Strauss is one of the toughest SOBs in Arachnos and will stop at little to get the job done, whatever it takes. I don't play to an alignment so much as how their character works out.
  2. I think this is one of those unanswerables. A lot depends on a person's cultural upbringing. Good example: Back on live I remember a discussion regarding Blue Steel, Kings Row trainer. You could broadly break down the discussion into two distinct groups; those who thought he was a hero and those who thought he was if not exactly a villain a very nasty piece of work. What I found most interesting from that conversation was that there was a very clear divide about the geography of those two positions. Largely those in the USA revered him while almost everyone else thought he was a complete git. That's one of those conversations that challenges our world view - which tends to be very fixed. Our "moral compass" is largely formed very young and informs us, unchangingly throughout our life, like our politics and religious beliefs. How do you measure goodness or villainy in a game anyhow?
  3. I just wanna cite this as yet another example of when a volunteer dev team fails to listen to suggestions!* #sarcasm Seriously - thanks for this and the prompt recognition. Truly appreciated
  4. I like this a lot but boy did the devs put the contacts in about the worst place possible lol
  5. Large martini, extra dirty! Cheers 🍻
  6. Welcome to the best game ever. I don't know what shard you're on but joining an SG or building a group of like-minded friends is invaluable. You will find that regular teaming with them helps you learn the ropes fast and you'll be able to go at a pace that suits your style more. DFB exists primarily because the game is mature and newer players are pretty rare. If you get the opportunity, I'd highly recommend a regular levelling progression - especially if you can get hold of some friends to join you. I'd highly recommend the Hollows arc - it's great for learning, and is a fantastic story too, with some real depth. By the time you've come out the other side of those arcs you'll find you have a much better understanding of game mechanics and you'll be about ready for the Posi TFs DFB is great for quick XP runs - but it's usually best for more mature players to whizz past the lower levels and get to a stage where they can do the regular TFs quickly. I don't think I'm over-exaggerating when I say probably 85% or more of the player base has played the game for a long time so there's few things for experienced players to learn. Sure, it's fun content and there's no "wrong" way to play the game but you might enjoy and benefit from, the experience of levelling the more traditional way. Whatever you choose, have fun with it
  7. he just misspelled ooze
  8. Slot for accuracy!
  9. You call them elevators, we call them lifts. I guess we're just raised differently.
  10. The Secret World did things very differently but sadly that's doing a passable impression of a dodo.
  11. I suggested that many eyewear pieces be given a glow effect and that was implemented very quickly. Granted they aren't labelled especially well but it did happen and fast.
  12. Clearly not but it's interesting to know more about some of them, especially those with names and a bit more going on than simply bad guys to beat down. I'm just curious, that's all.
  13. Serious question: I thought that the Sis P TF was meant to contribute towards the badge and it has a significant amount of love from the player base as a TF. Is this a case where rather than the wiki being wrong, the game itself is wrong in not awarding it?
  14. Now there's a euphemism if I ever heard one!
  15. do we actually know anything about any of the non-signature ones?
  16. I didn't think that was allowed but hey if you wanna see my tats... 🤣
  17. I found myself doing some Police Band missions over the last week or so and of course that involves preventing the bad guys robbing the various banks in Paragon. It caused a thought to percolate through my mind. I don't ever recall seeing these robbers anywhere else; yet they have a gang of villainous types following loyally, so they must have some clout with those who are partial to nefarious derring do and nicking the moolah from under the nose of the rightful owners. Do they have back stories, or do they appear elsewhere in the game? Have we broken them out of the Zig ever playing on redside? It just struck me that they probably have interesting enough stories that could make up more lore, even if they aren't ever going to become signature NPCs.
  18. First, there was, Nevada Smith then there was Indiana Jones and now, we present Bombay Dawes I'm still not entirely certain what AT or powers he has but I want to continue that tradition
  19. Who are you? What do you want? Be welcome and have many many funs!
  20. Famously, FBSA were a well-known soul funk outfit that presaged the Philly sound.. The initials stood for "Father Brother Sister Auntie" but they were superceded by the stylistically funkier and more competent band known as MFSB
  21. You can also use slash commands ( / ) to save and restore settings I used /wdwsave (window save) and /wdwload /optsave (options) /optload /bindsave (binds) /bindload /chatsave (chat) /chatload So once you have your UI working the way you like it, your binds are all configured and you know the colours of your UX etc and your chat tabs you can use those as saves which sets as default, then load them every time you play on a different character to give yourself consistency.
  22. I'm impressed. You've found me out exactly I am undone!
  23. I'm taking nothing personally here, don't worry I'm curious how you think responding to you is a derailment of your thread or position. I'm not going to address your wall of text other than to say that if there are things you dislike in the game you can almost always avoid them and do other things. It is a game. It is a leisure activity. If you're not enjoying it, go do something else that you do enjoy. Life is too short to spend it fretting about how some aspects of a volunteer project run by dedicated fans don't meet your expectations. But stuff annoys you and it took a year for you to think about it tells me that you might just be overthinking it a tad. Best to you
  24. I'm certainly not complaining, but I obviously missed that update. But yes, I <think> it makes more sense... but just to be clear it improves the time your taunt/placate affects an enemy, correct?
  25. I was playing a brute, not an AT I play often and I realised when coming to sort out some enhancements, that one took "Threat Duration" enhancements. I don't think I've ever encountered that before. I am guessing it's akin to Taunt but it's not Taunt... so is it one of those oddities like Snare vs Slow? Is it ever going to be possible to rationalise some of our Enhancements or is that a vain hope? I'm thinking that some (I'm looking at Interrupt) are pretty well totally obsolete and it might be nice to clear the guff but I can also imagine it may be a massive task for little reward. Thoughts!
