  1. Level drain: The most terrifying thing you can do to a table-top player!
  2. sending good thoughts and best wishes
  3. One thing I've not really highlighted in this - and it's a serious question - is what stuff should we keep, what should we recycle? I mean obviously with salvage that's relatively simple - keep the orange stuff, some yellow and very few whites but hoard lucky charms but what about recipes? Do we make them to convert them or just... my head splodes just thinking about it.
  4. I understand this - but I would advise trying it on different toons initially. You're setting yourself a seriously big, complex task and you'll literally need spread sheets and stuff to keep track That's why this works. That said, there's no harm in setting yourself a near impossible challenge, so go for it but don't expect to ace it on one fell swoop. If I were fool/crazy/obsessive/dedicated enough I'd do each significant arc on a new character, and track progress with spreadsheets etc. Then I'd work out where I needed to make it all join in one and... but no, that's not for me. I admire your dedication. Good luck!
  5. you can be lower, just exemp down with a buddy. Incarnate system is entirely skippable if you want to. You don't need to partake - though I suggest you're missing out on some excellent content if you don't. You can also get to 50 and roll a new toon from level 1 if being big is too much of an issue. We have time-travel options, in Ouroboros where you can travel back in time to allllllllllllll the content at appropriate levels. You have many many options. Best of luck to you 👍
  6. I just want some "pot lights" - perhaps they illuminate your high! But yes some plaques are very very hard to spot
  7. Better idea: Throw all the crap we don't want or need into the community pillars across the city and let toons between 1-10 pick it up. I know it'll be abused but the abusers won't get much of real value and some young toons might get a boost, especially if Ms Lib and the Arbiter tell them to go look
  8. I regularly purge my white salvage at vendors. I'll keep the odd stuff like luck charms because they can be silly. I'll often vend yellow salvage too. I do the same with common insps frequently or just mash them into something vaguely useful. The issue is not with stuff that's readily vendable but the stuff you can't junk easily. I don't even need to make a profit, I'll accept a loss - but the idea of crafting something and spending maybe a million on salvage and/or recipe then scrapping it just grates a bit. And then there's stuff that cannot be sold so what then?
  9. Reading this thread made me lose mine!
  10. I like this idea, but sadly it doesn't solve the issue of having some salvage that is essentially unusable past a certain point. Also I don't think some salvage is transferable, so we're stuck with it. A further idea is we re-energize the Base Workbench tables and can throw everything in there to be recycled - you get one Brainstorm Idea per level of the item recycled.
  11. To be clear, I'm not advocating to store recipes and if the AH were available in base it would be a disaster for the MP. Either situation would result in a huge market imbalance and there would be players literally logging in and playing the market from their base without ever actually doing the game. It would turn the game into a rigged stock market game and that would effectively destroy City of Heroes and turn it into "Spandex Stock Brokers" I don't think that's what many of us want. What I would like to see is a way to recycle stuff. I use some Crafted IOs (there doesn't seem to be a useful term for them) - often I get my first at the University - and that sustains me for many levels. But once done it's junk. I'd like to make it useful somehow and I can't sell it on MP. It's not givable away because that's not a thing. So let's find a way to recycle into the community if not the character. Everything that gets recycled reduces cost of everything in the MP by 0.01% per leve x rarity. OR something I recycle a thing, everyone benefits
  12. I've seen the movie. I don't think you understand exactly what "full monty" means
  13. Fucking hell, finish the job already. Do you know how many times Everest has actually been climbed by now? kids these days...
  14. It seems I mistyped the mission name from WFTO but yes... it is clearly a direct reference to our beloved game.
  15. Never works for Ice controllers
  16. Didn't use a sock!
  17. I seem to have a lot of junk on many of my toons. Recipes that are near to worthless but if I make them into an IO set enhancement, they become even more worthless and convert to something equally valueless. Salvage I can mostly deal with, as I can with most common IO recipes but I still end up with some of those I've crafted that can't be sold, have little use value and my aversion to the sunk cost fallacy makes it hard for me to dispose of without a regretful sigh and/or a wince. Then there's Incarnate Shards and their associative crap. That shit really annoys! Once your Alpha is T4 slotted, why would you ever need them again and yet they cling to us like some kind of ghost parasite, not actually doing anything but accumulating in inventory and silently judging us for hating them. They are horrid and I loathe them but I am usually too broke to throw away a million inf to create threads... which don't seem to offer a massive benefit in and of themselves. Once I've got T4 in everything then what... Superuninsiprings? Luna was a lovely girl in life, in game and it's a poor legacy for her to be vending upscale junk. Recipes confuse. If I craft something that looks ok it invariably sells for a lot less than it appeared when I was researching if I should make it. Standard IOs... I get there are some uses in game for some of them. but many many are just crap we don't need, want or value. Sure I can sell the recipe at a vendor but once it's crafted (which invariably costs way more than buying it on the AH) if it has no immediate use, it languishes, taking up space, like that fat guy you know but hate, who seems to think that you like him and comes to sit on your couch without interacting much and you wonder why they are even in your life! YES! THAT IS HOW ANNOYING SOME OF THIS JUNK IS! It's got me fat-shaming IOs! Common Salvage is mostly a PITA. I know the stuff I want to hoard. Luck Charms and some other uncommon magical white salvage but the rest is less useful than an actual inanimate carbon rod (you can draw pictures with them and conduct electricity, after all!) I could make some empowerment buffs in my base but if I'm at high Resistance anyhow there seems to be little advantage. I have it in mind that the crafting tables in bases made some interesting stuff but they got turned into ornaments, which is sad for a few reasons but it seems to me they could be turned into a thing to "disassemble" crafted stuff that doesn't have much value post-manufacture. It might give us back the recipe and components - even if we didn't get the cash we used to make it. But then maybe people would just buy shit in the AH and disassemble unless that was somehow restricted. Of course I could just throw stuff away. But I don't like doing that, I earned it, after all. And like many older folks I tend to hoard stuff even if I don't want it. So what am I supposed to do?
  18. I dipped into a game I've not played for a long while this week. I was always a fan of the original Dungeon Keeper, despite janky bitmap graphics et al but I loved War for the Overworld even more, despite it being a tribute/clone/homage. I keep forgetting there's a level in the game that always gives me a BFG - it's a whole bunch of skeletons and necromancers running around causing mayhem. That mission is titled "Go Hunt. Kill Skuls" That's the biggest grin of all. The fact that an homage is giving a nod to another game that I love even more seems to give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Maybe we don't need to be spending close to £75 a pop for the latest games (of course on the latest rigs, cuz they don't look right otherwise) we just need great gaming experiences and fun communities. The odd in-joke won't hurt too much either!
  19. I'm thinking that many forum software providers have their own stack of emoticons/reactions etc and there are a ton of them out there - if you've ever installed a forum system on cPanel you will see many choices and those are just the free options. My presumption is that there's a whole stack of them provided by the software developers here; https://invisioncommunity.com/features/community-participation/ I think your version of DOOOM! might be too (TM) for the HC team. I did once have audio I recorded of Kerensky (one of the great EU CCs on live) saying it live, but I don't think that would work as a quick emote. Perhaps something like a green bullhorn might make a suitable alternative.
  20. Experimentation: Speed of Sound gives you the fast TP and you've got the toxic dar and corrosive vial to create the after effects of BAMF Street Justice/Dark Armor would work nicely as powersets
  21. A thought struck me earlier. I know, awesome right? It doesn't happen often. Fortunately my +Res was sufficient to deflect it and I went about my business unperturbed. Self-disparagement aside, I was thinking about reactions which got me thinking about the anniversary of Homecoming's "Officialdom" - when it became officially sanctioned by NCSoft and we no longer had to hide or fear that our game may be taken away suddenly again. I remember it was January of last year and that's further back than I initially thought. I had to check. I thought perhaps that event should be celebrated annually somehow but we might have skipped the moment. That's somehow digression. I do remember that we got a whole new bunch of reactions with that change. I have it in mind they tended to change more regularly than they have until then and they've been largely (afaicr) pretty static since. Is it time for a refreshment? A change of pace? a little different look and feel to our rapid responses and acknowledgements? I guess I'm thinking it might be a good thing else I wouldn't have posted. I'm marginally on the side of change, but that's largely for change's sake. What say you all?
  22. given the tomfoolery of 2025, All Fools day has been cancelled since it simply cannot compete.
  23. before I order any gyro I'd have to scope it out first or I'd get in a spin
  24. Gosh I so got the wrong impression from the thread title
