So I'm in a distinct number of chat groups in games, and finding keeping tab [sic] of all the potential places to have a conversation with my fellow players is proving to be somewhat confusing. How do you guys tend to arrange yours in the most efficient and user friendly manner? I'd love to see and maybe crib some ideas from you.

One set I've not seen mentioned here is /thermal. That goes brilliantly with Earth, but a team build. Not great solo but it helps Rocky a lot with shields, has slows that stack and some good debuffs. It's a monster at controlling a room, while the rest of the team go kill/maim/disfigure

I MUCH prefer Dark to Ill. I guess it depends on play style. Try both. (And plant) and let us know what you think.

I've played a LOT of controllers to 50 (and even deleted a few) as well as other ATs. I do notice that some are less effective at the point of turning 50, but regain that and more once slotted and built right. It's very rare that I have a toon built the way I want it as I ding 50 (read: Never) so usually a good couple of hours in Mids/Pine, then a critique on the forums, then a few missions collecting the stuffs I need to make it go right and then look out world. I think that one thing you've not taken into account is that a full team of anything can make each individual seem a bit superfluous, so not surprising you're not quite ready but the beauty of this game is trying to do things differently. I've had a lot of fun doing duos and trios of major TFs, which make it much more challenging, and that's when you see your worth really shine. I'm not going to shout down Sovera but I do disagree with their point. I think s/he has drawn the wrong conclusion to a perceived problem. Any 8 man team of any ATs pretty well can stomp any content lower than incarnates. Here's a really important question that only you can answer: Are you enjoying playing your character?

As a human, we can feel conflicting emotions...I can be excited about getting a free steak dinner, find out the restaurant is out of steak, and I get free hamburger instead...Is getting free hamburger bad? No. Am I negatively impacted? Not really. Am I disappointed? Yes Again, that being said...Why do people ever say "No" to things then in this forum? It seems hypocritical to say in this thread - let the dev's do what they want, but in a Damage Meter thread it's no no no you can't do that. I love your analogy, but I think you're doing the Devs a disservice. In my experience, they've kept a pretty close eye on what goes on and then there's the tossing around of cost/reward thing. In this case that metric is slightly different as in profit isn't the motive it's simply an equation of [man hours/benefit] Resources are finite. They pay attention. You/We have our game. Suggest away but don't be disgruntled* when your project doesn't see the light of day. You can still play! *have you ever met anyone who was actually gruntled?

/jranger It's fine in Ouro, but the Paragon story has moved forward. To reinstate them goes against the grain and is a retrograde step. I don't think the Penny Yin TF is a patch on the Sister P original but it is what it is, and STF is pretty well exactly what we had but it's given to us by Ms Lib instead. I don't think Statesman should come back, I'm not even sure if there is even a huge desire fro him to do so and I feel that if a story is dynamic, change must happen. If we dislike it... well sooner or later it'll change. But to have a static game would be dreadful and dull and it woudln't have survived the way it has.

I love most of the control sets with the possible exception of Grav and Ill... but I mostly play those with firm holds;Plant, Ice, Earth. One of my most fun chars on live was my Earth/Thermal who was rubbish to solo but invaluable in teams. I also had great results with Dark/Poison which seemed very tough for a troller, and did a lot of DPS - especially good in PVP if that's your thing.

Great point Apogee. Ok, The Rifleman is waiting by the T4V vendor in the Precinct 5 training mission, ready for you. I'd strongly advise you picking up the things you want from T4V before we start but I might also suggest not taking experience boosters. We're content running after all and we want to get as much as we can.

one of my favourite X-Avengers. 8) I like beast a lot. I played a Beast/Rad to 50 and it was a monster. The biggest issue is the lack of control makes it difficult to mitigate their lack of range, but when even on a small team, it really rocks. And it's not even fully IO'd but does have most incarnate powers.

Thanx! Voting Nao Though I will add that I’ve made one of each “faction” and plan on going through it all again once I’ve finished recapturing the glory days of Blue and Red. Which ever faction things fall out to be, I’ll be happy. And, I can’t recall if it’s true, but my memory is nagging me. You *have* to do the tutorial in order to get some missions. Something about not getting secret subversion phone calls that changed the missions while on a regular mission. I've not heard this before, I don't know if anyone can confirm it? I propose we run our first one this Saturday 15th, at 7pm BST (11am Pacific, 8pm CET) - let's do the training mish together, brand new characters and run the content as it feeds us in. Once we've got to Paragon, we can make new characters and follow a different quest line if we find it works, or continue on to 50, depending on how we feel.

Yah. No help. Not the question I asked. In his poll they are labled as grey, gold, one, two. But without any explanation of which one is responsible, loyal, crusader or what have you. If I wanted to run a particular story arc with him, I don’t know which one to vote for because his labels are without any definition. Fixt

Okay, umm.. so it sounds as if you yourself do not know which one is which for certain. So perhaps label them more clearly? Loyalist Extreme, Loyalist Normal... etc.... They were Loyalist Responsibility (protecting the people while being loyal to Cole), Loyalist Power (support Cole while working to acquire more personal power), Resistance Warden (opposing Cole, but with as few human costs as possible) and Resistance Crusader (opposing Cole, whatever it takes, including human costs). thanks for clearing that one up

If I remember correctly there's two paths, Loyalist and Resistance, but they split again into a more extreme path for both factions. So path 2 is the more extreme option. And yes, Grey is Resistance

as many have said, melee is a big part of a Blaster's armoury, so you're missing out by not using it, and it is a skill to do it well. That said, it could be that your play style just isn't suited to Blasters that well and you might find you enjoy other ATs a lot more. Given the amount we have and the powers they can wield, I'd strongly advise you to experiment, see what works and what doesn't. Personally my fave ATs are Blasters and Controllers, both of which play quite differently, so give it a go and see what you think. One thing you'll learn soon enough is there are many many different ways to play this game and that's one reason it's so good.

putting this here because there doesn't seem to be a board for "Events and Teaming" or similar, but I'm wondering if anyone fancies starting a mission team in Praetoria and running from 1 to 50 via the Imperial or Resistance arcs. I'd probably do this on Reunion, and in UK/EU evening times so from say 7pm BST (6pm UTC) or 8pm ECT. I guess day(s) of the week would be dependent on the response but if you're into the idea, please sign up below and it'd be very helpful to include your @Global so I can find you in game. Also feel free to discuss which side you have most interest in running, Grey or Gold. (I'm partial to gold side, I thought that was an unexplored aspect of the story and formed an SG based on loyalists, the Praetorian Imperial Secret Service. "In Praetoria the Piss Takes You!")
