Homecoming player count: a year in review
Scarlet Shocker replied to macskull's topic in General Discussion
I have it on good authority that Tardigrades are bigger on the inside than the outside -
does it stack with other build up-like powers? What about adding a ton of +to hi? (I'm thinking of the targetting pool power especially) Is this gonna suddenly become a supernuke?

Honestly I've seen nothing in the Prismatic doodad that I consider worth even thinking of saving for

I also find those posters jarring for many of the reasons already stated - but I kind of think they give a bit of atmosphere that I'll try and elaborate. I should state off the bat that I'm no expert on game lore but my understanding was that the game launched with the Rikti invasion with a mothership over Atlas and all kinds of exciting stuff. The Rikti were repulsed and their ship was downed in Rikti Crash site -- which is a very convenient coincidence if you think about it. So I guess the idea is that the citizens of Paragon feel seriously threatened by the invaders from another dimension and that is reflected in the posters. I think that is enhanced by other shape changers and strange critters that can only be seen occasionally such as void seekers and quantums (remember them, back when people playing Kheldians blasted everything in sight and then screamed like little boys when they saw a void seeker?) I do think the flag jars on the banner - but that's perhaps because I'm not American and although Paragon is set in the continental USA it seems much more international than many American cities, and paradoxically more welcoming to all and sundry, including the huddled masses. So there's a definite philosophical conflict in my own mind but I go back to the point that when we have contant invasions from Rikti, Nemesis, Zombies and even snowmen, it's understandable that local government might be over-zealous in ensuring the citizenry remain vigilant for any potential nefarious doings.

So imagine our Devs decided to go for CoH 2...

Why not have four different iterations your character goes through - each 50 levels; so you start at street, then world, then cosmic and finally ... well I'm not completely sure I understand what you mean by "imaginaut" but it would give your character 200 levels to go through before meeting the end game which could be a real challenge. Especially if the Architect Entertainment didn't give XP 😄 -

If it's not Paragon, it stops being City of Heroes - similarly with the Rogue Isles - that's where the lore is - if we relocate to a different city, then it becomes a different game by its very nature. The only way the game could maintain it's CoH feel would be if somehow Paragon got obliterated and it was down to the heroes to revive it somehow but I feel quite strongly that City of Heroes 2 would need to be based on the existing lore we already have otherwise it has nothing to differentiate it from Ship of Heroes or City of Titans, worthy as those successor projects may be. But in terms of the morality, perhaps everyone could begin as a "neutral" alignment and maybe train as such until maybe level ten or so and then have to choose certain morality missions which then affects their destiny in a more tangible way than we have currently. It seems to me that in our real world, even the most evil people believe they are working for the greater good, no matter how twisted those views might be to others - rarely to people in power consider themselves evil, so it would be interesting to see that reflected somehow in a game. We have our own example of Emperor Cole who despite doing awful things for decades, believed it was for the right reasons but his despotism took over. -

We did get a significant amount of content towards the end of live, I totally agree - War Witch pledged "Content Content Content" (from memory) and they did deliver. I have issues with the quality of some of that content but certainly there was a lot added to the game that gave us a richer late game experience. Yes there were and remain building glitches - lag hill in the ITF is a classic case but I strongly suspect that wasn't laziness so much as budgetary considerations. And yes, I know lag hill was fixed but other places haven't been. -

I can say, with a reasonably high degree of confidence, that I doubt too many people would want dildo(e)s in a new CoH2 But then there's always gonna be somebody who wants to play "dildo assault" as a power set -
What would be the best support character for a Blaster?

Threads like this kind of make me a bit sad. This game has many great players and many who want to team up and enjoy the experience - but many players want to play by themselves with multiple toons. Neither is wrong but it just strikes me as feeling a tad disjointed and I wonder if we're getting the best from it. To me it feels like a missed opportunity to mix it up and team (even if just a duo) with other players which allows you to network, potentially increase your friends list and also compare and contrast power sets and how they mesh with your own builds and ATs. I get there's a consistency argument - if you've got what is effectively an NPC on auto-follow spamming heals or similar you know what you're gonna get - and you can play any time. But it just strikes me that a team - even just a duo - is going to give better support and more fun ultimately. -
I've always felt that APPs were kind of limiting in one sense - mostly by dint of not giving sufficient choice. It would be great to see more - I'd especially like to see something influenced by gold side and Praetoria to compliment the Arachnos PPPs

He almost made it with Space 1999 ... and it gave Martin Landau and Barbara Bain a very good payday. They were reportedly the highest paid couple appearing in the same on TV at the time But yeah Thunderbirds still stands up amazingly well, not just because of the sets but many of the stories are excellent and still stack up today. Captain Scarlet also broke new territory (and which came first, Cloudbase or the Helicarrier?) in that humans initiated the war and remained on the back foot forever. In my opinion some of his finest work
