Scarlet Shocker

One game I did really enjoy for almost its entire life was Atlas Reactor. It had many superhero elements, but was difficult, fun game play and although I was crap at it, I got great pleasure from it. Gamigo killed it when they bought the publisher and then tried to revive it but bolloxed it up so badly it fell over almost immediately. Sometimes I think we should pool our resources and form a corporation called "Redundant Games" and buy old IPs and code 😉

There are many powers in the game that you just don't need and almost never get used. Here are a few more, with a slight emphasis on the tongue firmly in the cheek (but we won't say whose!) In no particular order: 1) Flame Strike: All fire based powers stage a work to rule for better pay and conditions and refuse to activate until the fight you're in is over. They also categorically refuse to activate on weekends under any circumstances. 2) OPortal: This handy teleport power activates instantly and teleports you to a secret location within Croatoa where you will be greeted by lvl 54 AV Red Caps. There is no crock of gold at the end of this rainbow. 3) Dismember the Team: You and your team are teleported to your team leader, one little piece at a time. 4) Seeds of Forgetfulness: I can't actually remember what this one does 5) New Roots: You discover your heritage and origins in greater detail. Utterly useless in terms of gameplay but at least you know where came from and it's good for RP. 6) Snare of the Abyss: You manage to capture an entire abyss all by yourself. Now what are you going to do with it? You know the moment you release it, you'll be devoured. Good luck! 7) Incandescent: Angry? I'm bloody livid, mate! 8 ) Shorn of the Dead: Any powers relating to unlife, undeath, zombies, skeletons et al are removed from your power trays for the forseeable duration 9) Wake me up before you gogo: The ultimate party Rez 10) Gang of Four: More than three, fewer than five. 11) Spectral Hands: FINALLY! YOU HAVE FINGERS!!!! They are definitely there, you can see their translucent glow, but you just can't touch anything! Maybe it's all just an illusion. 12) Void Watcher: Emotionless and unfeeling, you watch the universe and its darkness. Your only pleasure is when you hear Kheldians scream in terror, an event that is becoming exponentially more rare. Oh how you miss those days... 13) Fried to a CRISP (Temp PVP POWER): You are able to use this power once, and once only, to transmute any opposing player into lightly salted, deep fried, delicious and very thinly sliced, potato pieces 14) CHIP off the old block (Temp PVP POWER): You know where this is going, right? Feel free to add your own, and may I just take a moment to wish everyone a very happy holiday season and it's my heartfelt hope that the coming year is better for everyone, everywhere.

I'm very unlikely to choose Fire. I did have (still do) a Fire/TA which was pretty solid but it's not a set I especially enjoy. Fire/Kins and /Rads kinda put me off it by their ubiquity

Thermal is a great set. It does benefit from being paired with a set it takes synergy from. Melt Armor isn't the best on its own and nobody's going to complain if it gets a bit of a boost but the set itself stands up pretty well I feel.

It's amazing... but sadly dated and of course, it's 90 years ago now, not 70.

I remember, on live, pre-Server merge, there seemed to be a distinct difference between how BS and CK are viewed in Europe and the USA. Europe side there's a lot more sympathy for CK, who's almost seen as a victim of Blue Steel's aggressive bullying but in the US it seems to be reversed and so far as I can tell most think CK got what he deserved. It's an interesting cultural comparison but I do think the whole Clockwork King story is one of the more interesting, and yet under explored signature stories.

If you want to create a WWII character with a suitable name, pick up a book on WWII Aircraft Nose Art. You'll find a shit ton of inspiration there. And pretty pictures of Vargas girls

There are two big problems with Synapse as I see it One is, as others have said the lack of variety. Getting a TF done in under 2 hours is not the issue. ITF or LGTF can easily take as long or longer. It's that the content of Synapse is BORING AF!! It's essentially kill the entire population of clockwork AGAIN and AGAIN and AFUCKINGAIN! The bigger issue is that Synapse is such a whiny-arse self-centred feeling-sorry-for-himself wanker nobody has any empathy for him as a player or other characters. His story is tragic but poorly written and he doesn't come out of it looking good. So no players have any empathy for him, his story, or his TF. So when you go into the TF expecting it to be a chore, how do you expect to come out of it?

sorry for the above but it leapt off the page at me. I can see how it could have some great synergy and low key devastation (if that's not a complete contradiction) But I do love some of your other suggestions. I am coincidentally running a Plant/DA whcih is interesting but I was struggling to work out what powers to take so thanks especially to Lhanis. I might be tempted to go for FF - I shall have to read more. Grav/Storm... mmmmm I do like storm but I've typically used it to keep foes at bay so... Keep 'em coming folks and thanks for your input thus far!

Comprehensive list. Am I misremembering, but wasn't Talos around in WWII? And thus the Teal Serpent? One of the earliest publicity videos for the game featured Statesman as a "back in the day" thing which I got a sense of was very 1930s Depression era. That I think had some other heroes in it of the era.

I try and go for lower level procs to mitigate that. Most procs can be bought with merits at their lowest level, and I *think* I'm right that they work 3 levels below that? If I catalyse it, will it work down to 10 or zero? I rarely exemp down. As an altaholic I usually have a lower level option I can bring to a party.

I enjoyed that method of entry too! It gave a little more... atmosphere Also I am wondering if going back to the depths of time, the OP isn't misremembering Pocket D for it's predecessor, Paragon Dance Party with laser beam lights and plenty of Skuls which I *think* was in IP

Yes that's exactly my thought but I realised it was Universal travel after I posted. Clearly I have been labouring under a big misapprehension. Thanks for clearing it up

This question is inspired by the Winter's Gift: Slow Resistance proc which I was able to craft from Candy Canes, and it got me thinking. My understanding is that this is a passive proc, it gives me that resistance whatever I'm doing whether the power it's slotted in is active or no (it's not yet slotted but I anticipated putting it in Fly at lvl 50 on one of my characters.) I could be completely wrong about how it functions but that is my understanding. If I am correct then I could theoretically slot it in one of my unused prestige sprint powers, thus giving me the opportunity to put something slightly more useful in Fly (such as a fly speed IO et al) So I've got at least 7 powers I really don't bother slotting - Brawl, my Prestige Sprints (I only use a couple of those so the others lie fallow) and Rest Is it therefore possible to slot those with similar procs that might not give a huge benefit, but every little helps and if you can pick one up cheap enough or you have the inf/merits etc... I'm mostly thinking out loud here but once I've had this thought I needed to get it answered.
