Don't activate your main power thing, whatever that is.

Heh, Mr Milligna, well known typing error and genius, had a few great aphorisms in his life -

interesting idea - but it falls over with Iron Man but Crey does that admirably. -

Young man, I object. My sausage is in no way plant based. You insult me and I must have satisfaction! -
to be serious for a moment - it depends on the mistake. If it's dreadful, I delete the character, even if it's 50. I do that quite often for a number of reasons - especially now that it's easy to get to 50. It's no hardship to play the game I love and rebuild a character that I didn't get right last time. It is very easy to strip a wealthy char, store all the goodies, recreate and get them all back. There's almost no penalty. I do spend time on respecs and (see one of my more recent posts in the Defender AT section) I rebuilt a character from scratch because I'd misunderstood the use of one power which totally borked the character. Fortunately the result was a significant improvement overall so it's a win. to me, a character's value is in the emotional connection I have to it. That surpasses everything else. I develop a concept and if it works, then great, if it doesn't I rework it until it does. I abandon avatars if they fail to meet the concept but I almost never abandon concepts. That said, very occasionally I've created a toon, played to 50, enjoyed it and thought "this isn't fitting the concept for the character" so I have renamed it and kept it as a distinct entity.

what would that look like. There was a time we had high (or less high) hopes of successor projects. Some of us even gave money to them, in the hope we'd get something in return but I think genuinely without too many expectations. Some of those projects haven't gone so very far, others have withered on the vine, and some seem to be increasingly close to completion in a way that counting to infinity works. But... (and it's a very big but and I like big buts I cannot lie) We were blessed with some magic and we discovered that against all odds, something we loved dearly was given back to us - but not just returned in a static state like an antique vase, but more like (rushes to search for an analogy) a classic racing car, that is continually run, successful in its class, and often modernised and updated within the rules of the competition (ie the constraints we are under as we are) So this is more a thought experiment than anything. I should stress it is not a "wish list" or a call to action for our own devs - but I need to give them credit for not just nurturing our game but treating it with the love, respect and dedication that it deserves. They have guarded it well, and in many many ways improved it - and even if I've disagreed with some of the options they've gone for I understand their logic and reasoning and they are mostly minor. I genuinely believe that this group of developers have served the game better than some served it on live - but I also understand the commercial pressures they were under and that's not what this thread is about. So imagine our guys get a free rein, go have skilled fun and come up with Paragon City 2.0 (perhaps after we've finally kicked the Rikti's butt and sent them packing (it's the 20th anniversary of their invasion, after all) - what does that look like? What does City of Heroes 2.0 look like on day one of launch? No, this is not a wish list. It's not about new gimmicks, or "I want x power set" or "I wanna play a clown" etc. It's about how does the game, the story, the environment move forward as a game released at the end of the first quarter of the 21st century with a 20 year legacy behind it. Go to it!

Battle Axe Poison (if such a thing were possible) would possibly become known as Battlaxative -
haha I love how such an innocuous subject has generated so much angst 😄

Some of the content is a qualified "ok" - some is complete dogshit. I don't mind the new Dark Astoria per se - there's a tradition of horror themes in superhero comicdom which I think it reflects well but why it had to be a revamped DA instead of an entirely new zone and villain group I do not fathom. The BP were interesting enough as they were - why reinvent the wheel? I completely agree about the mess of the various incarnate rewards - but I find incarnate rewards now are often easier to achieve than the merits to build your main powers, so it cheapens the achievement even more. Given my way I'd scrap incarnate powers entirely (or reduce their power significantly) and rebalance the incarnate content to reflect that. It's not like we actually need more powers in this game. Perhaps more variance - but as implemented it kind of funnels characters from specialists to the median

Most underrated power sets in game
Scarlet Shocker replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
I love poison as a concept and a power set but I do struggle to play it. I find it doesn't match my play style well and while I try and get up close and personal with those toons that have it, some definitely work better than others. -
There was an issue that persisted in that you were forced to run the Hollows ad infinitum - especially before XP smoothing (Issue 9? 2008 maybe) - or you'd be stuck street sweeping in KR or Skyway which was boring. The Hollows, IMO contains some of the very best content in the game (Frostfire is an excellent morality tale ruined by a shitty cut scene and his subsequent "redemption" in much higher content) and following it through to Atta is also very rewarding (but to do that successfully now you probably need to turn off XP for the full experience) The problem was that however good the story was, with no realistic alternatives it became ubiquitous to the point of burnout and people would actively try to find alternatives. There was a serious need for Hollows competition but now it's just easy to breeze past it even without the DFB - Tip missions anyone? As a side note, on the day of the sunsetting announcement a few of us who regularly played together ran the Frostfire arc as a kind of "memorial celebration" while we hoped against hope the game would be rescued. WE got our wish but in a way none of us ever imagined.

Hahah It is perfectly acceptable to be British and English at the same time - in the same way it's ok to be Texan and American. Very few people have just one single tribal identity

OI Luminara, put your pants back on and stand up straight!

But... What about when the moon hits your eye like a big something or other?

Ergo, I am a pie because I ride a motorcycle!

I like the idea of subs... a secret underwater base. Stingray! 😄 Not sure what you mean by Above Base Base
-
I need some advice/help: I have a basic base - it has the things I need, such as storage, medical facilities, teleporters etc - but it's dull and boring and uninspiring compared to so many of the bases I've seen in game, on forums and in videos. Sadly I have neither the talent or patience to learn those skills and imaginations to build such an affair - but I would like to spruce it up a lot. I'm especially inspired by the original Tracy Island base in Gerry Anderson's "Thunderbirds Are Go" or Cloudbase in Captain Scarlet - the idea of being able to get to anywhere in Paragon by rocket, jet, Arachnos flyer or other craft is a fun concept even if we can't actually do that. - but the reality is it's about as much as I can do to make a room with sky with a rocket that pokes out of it 😄 But to more practical matters - how do I completely rebuild a base without destroying what I have currently? I don't want to lose Storage, nor do I want to lose functionality in what might be a time consuming rebuild. What are your suggestions for achieving that? Also as a side question: I've noticed that work benches no longer seem to work. Is that a thing now? What caused them to stop functioning?

I truly hope you're referencing this version Fun fact: Elenore is the only car to be given a movie credit

This seems on paper like it's a match made in heaven (metaphorically speaking) - that whole demons/hellfire thing going on etc etc I'm a big fan of Thermal and I've had a lot of fun on Reunion with my Demons/Cold - and I wanted to play a solid MM on Excelsior - I'm working on a couple currently but there seems to be little love for that particular combo here. I sense that Thermal is a bit underrated - but I love it; great shields, heals, a bit of control and a massive debuff. Perhaps too much of an "all-rounder" set to excel at any single thing but high survivability in teams or solo. Also it should pair well with the -Res of the Demons. I'd love comments/thoughts/suggestions etc.

Wombattery & Assault (hope it's not been done before) Mace, obviously -
Perfect. Licence Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Theatre of Hate, Cramps etc and stuff... get some atmosphere going!

That's the point: Like the rest of this thread, you've been had! 🤣

Personally I'd like to see the entire Incarnates system done away with in its entirety, though I'd be ok with keeping the Itrials, even if slightly detuned to cope wtih the lack of slot boosts/level shifts. Except the execrable pile of repetitive dogshit that is TPN which can go do one. Preferably in @Snarky's crypt where it will never see the light of day again.
