  1. We all know the math. After you can survive, (whether that is -1/x0 or +4/x8) it is a matter of DPS. I was on a casual Peregrine Mayhem last night. Just 3 Brutes. +4/x8 It was not a steamroll but we were grinding it pretty good. Not fast. Having one or more "carries" on a team running hard content not only reduces DPS it can negatively impact the team as they try to buff/revive/support what is dead weight. As the "carry" tries to help they go from dead weight to siphoning off team energy and focus. It is a very casual game, for me, at this point. I play regular. But it is just to have a bit of fun. I will do whatever with whoever, unless they are being a troll. No global ignore list for me. If you decide not to be a troll the next time we meet thats a good thing. So, if you are dead weight on my team it will take longer, or we fail. slight sadness. But I personally will not bring dead weight onto a team. No promises about not throwing out a Snarky tm., pat. pend. comment here and there
  2. I do not PvP. But I do go to PvP zones to collect badges. One time on live on my SS Brute (either Inv or Will) I was jumped by a group of PvPers. I landed KO Blow. Game over. Ground and Pound. Do not get in close enough for that to land. The thing is a murder ticket. If you can End drain Willpower you are playing at a different level than me. Which leaves doing enough damage to kill it just raw. I suggest a Beam Rifle. It is what I use on Really Hard Way Magisterium Trials. That build has max ranged def (for PvE...)
  3. Oh I do. Heck I will complain about ANYTHING on the forums. Go ahead, search, see for yourself A Team, SF, TF, or Trial is not a clandestine secret operation. There is no expectation of privacy. I do try to avoid calling out specific names. This from simple courtesy and hard won wisdom. The forums are the “locker room” of the game. We share strategies that work and that do not. We share accomplishments and failures. We relate our experiences for education and entertainment. We cheer on, complain, congratulate, rage, lift up, and tear down. Hopefully without making it personal Except when giving credit, drop names then
  4. I hate to say it but tge culture on Excelsior is very similar to Freedumb server on Live. Garbage pug groups and all the manners of a NYC subway station
  5. I would suggest a Kinetic Melee Regen Scrapper. That turd will stink bad.
  6. So even if enhanced (with anything besides attuned and I believe no set bonuses was mentioned) then the 34 (or 40 w/e) Blaster had NO enhancement because they would have outleveled them. Fighting 50+ enemies. Yeah. That spot was vacant as far as team help was concerned. No damage and just eating up peoples time by distracting anyone who tried to buff or pull agro from them. Worse than a waste of space. A detriment. Sit by the door. Easier to be carried that way
  7. Something is not right. Either you misread, misremembered, or the old game suffered a more wacky glitch than I have ever seen. You could not have been on a Market Crash with a level 34 teammate. Seriously, pics or it did not happen moment.
  8. you will not be tanking much on a Fire Armor. looking at your original post. If you are headed that way (more damage less armors/defense) i would suggest looking at Brutes. some trash talk Brutes. I been playing them since live. They have been squuezed a bit over the years by nerfs and buffs to other melee. But the sick truth is they were near broken once we got inherent fitness. up until then they were lopsided. that just gave the engine nitrous and they never looked back.
  9. Here is a (very expensive and untested) Rad/Rad i am considering taking 1-50+ this weekend. On paper the thing is batshit crazy tough. For a set that ignores defenses. 10. you will not enjoy slow moving sets like stone or titan, i do not believe. SS will leave an ADHD person going crazy...not for waiting on Footstomp (glory!) but after a few days/weeks/months of waiting on Rage crash to end. If you like Energy I suggest Inv/Energy. Get a Hypertrike build. Never look back. Take Taunt. Be a useful Tank.
  11. Stych lied to me so otherwise I was right.
  12. someone with some AE skill needs to do an armed invasion scenario. to me this would look like a series of open AE maps with hordes of "useless" soldiers and random explosions (off scene tanks/artillery/missiles support) But even in the destroyed sections of Paragon city the enemy groups that swoop in are insanely powerful compared to regular military. Do you really want to try to hold territory the Freakshow are moving into, looking for parts to bolt onto their bodies?
  13. keeping in mind they "check" in order so some will probably not activate. yes. which is why, as you surmise, many people put the -res to the far right. if it goes off the procs following work better. i do not proc out much. but if i have multiples i will tend to put the purples etc to far right. hardest hitting most likely to fire etc. prob only matters for special effect ones like -res however. the time window is in tron time compared to me.
  14. I agree mostly completely. I still stand by my statements. Using any nukes is a geopolitical no no. Conventional Bombing the Rogue isles would be both ineffective and expensive. Which leaves conventional ground forces Which is expensive and would be a PR nightmare after the first few (of many) horrifying plot twists
  15. I use a Hyperstrike derived build on my main a Dark/Invul Brute. i have Tanked Recluse on him easily in Ms Liberty TF. I have been put down by Sister Psyche like a whiny 2nd grader as well, but she uses bad words in my head. Last night I was on a Ms Liberty TF Master attempt. We had a Tank and the team leader chose them to tank Recluse. He died. Fast. Challenge failed sigh. I grabbed Recluse and pulled him from the team. He got a couple good swipes in, I hit Dull Pain. I tanked him until the team had two towers down no probs. Hyperstrike is indeed the Patron Saint of Invul. His builds are bulletproof. Now I just need Magnetos helmet. ps, Bio Tank. We all groaned when we heard it.
  16. I have only found one instance about slot placement importance in game. (aside from obvious it is better to have more slots...) When placing procs they fire in order. From right to left when they proc.
  17. IF YOU HAVE THE INFAMY to blow there is no choice. Invulnerability stomps Willpower in high end builds. Sorry. I mained Willpower for a year or so when it came out. (It was hard to get in game builds, i played lowbies, and those were the days of no inherent fitness..). These days it is Invul by a landslide. Get a Hyperstrike build

    Dark Dark rebuild

Dark Dark is one of my favorite strategy builds. Use your opponents energy to destroy them. You just wander up to them then drain and pain
  19. THat Tank is running Dark Armor. Keep in mind it is stealthed ALL the time. Unless it has purposely got agro it does NOT have agro. Watch yourself. I love Dark armor but that is a weakness in the design for Tanking
  20. I just need something easy that allows me to say "Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam will you farm me Spam Spam Spam" i think it is subtle enough to slip into the unconscious and work!

    Dark Dark rebuild

I have been looking hard a tanker numbers and resist sets the last week. I ran a Dark/Dark Brute as a main for quite a while. It was strong and fun. Now that i have re thought my Resistance armor strategy I will be rebuilding it this way. More emphasis on Resist, Accuracy (which was very good already) and maturing at 50 rather than chasing cap pre 50. I am uploading this with Incarnates off, but turn them on and you will see what i mean. Focused Accuracy will be run situationally. i also plan to monitor all resistance values to check for debuffs and have rune of protection and a couple oranges on constant ready. Soul Drain is perma. I looked at this as a Tank (I have one at 50 already) and the build is sloppy easy on Resist and lighter on damage. To me Dark/Dark does not Tank well due to the perma unsuppressing stealth. I am a Huge Fan of the Auras on Dark. they do the Heavy lifting vs trash mobs that lack of defense leaves to be picked up. Below I will be posting the build I am moving from so you see the evolution of my ideas. 22. Can uou find the lab in Port Oakes?
  23. This is both a question about the power sets, synergy, and my crap design. I have never seriously played either set. I have a Rad/Fire Farmer. Hours in a tunnel hitting a couple powers prob doesnt count. I was pretty unhappy with this build until I realized it would not face a real challenge until 50+ enemies. The freedom to use the Alpha Slot made me less unhappy. With Resilient Core Paragon this build just scrapes over 100% Resistance on Smash/Lethal, and well over on Energy, Fire, Toxic. This prevents Resistance Debuff. Just cannot happen. 93% Negative, 91% Psi, and Why the F does a Resistance armor have a difficulty getting Res values up? Sheesh. Cold 75%. With Meltdown activated even cold goes over the top of 100. That power will prob be used more situationally for +dam then survival on this build. I think!?! Then there is the "I took every power" issue. Well, it is an experiment. So..... Time to see what flies off. 24. Probably not. You could Nuke the Rogue Isles. yes. Somewhat easily. But no one in their right mind wants to light that candle. Not even for a small tactical strike. Not from my reading of the global military tea leaves. Because as soon as one person does it.....someone else feels like they could just eliminate a pesky small problem. (Won't spread, we promise!) You could carpet bomb the rogue Isles with Planes, rockets and missiles. This would do tremendous damage. But it would not do it quick enough to forestall 1) counter attacks 2) people/resources escaping 3) the cost of this in depletion of assets will not be cheap. The Rogue Isles will be beaten, but they will take some mean old shots while they fall You could invade the Rogue Isles with overwhelming conventional forces. Now, a significant percentage of your invading force will be turned into zombie super soldiers attacking you back, others implanted with Nictus, others possessed by Oranbegans, but sure you can invade. This is a laughably bad idea that will get worse if not done extremely fast and extremely complete. Like, the entire national military walking ashore in lockstep. Because the Rogue Isles does not fight fair. Or sanely. Or with anything approaching an attitude of they give a crap. That would be fun to watch. Seriously. You could try to make a political deal with the Rogue Isles and compartmentalize their chaos while trying to profit and extract some wins, personally, professionally, and possibly nationally. I think this is where most national leadership currently stands. Thats a minefield of its own type. But an unstoppable conventional invasion? What do you tell the parents of the division that got gated into the shadow shard? We'll find your boys? How about the battalion lost at the thorn tree in nerva. And I dont mean killed. They went into the tunnels and no one has seen them since.
