  1. I am interested in this topic. I have run many Brutes. They were my "mains' on live and for the first year back on HC. Mostly Invul, the Willpower, then both. Started off with Invul on HC, then switched to Dark. I have NEVER chased large health on Brutes. Armor? Yes. Recharge? Oh yeah. Accuracy, yep. Health? Huh, what? They have health right? I am currently slow levelling a Dark/Invul. By slow I mean in the 444 hours to level 39 grind... When I get to 50 I will have at least two builds. One to continue my soloing quest. One for teams. Both should be high recharge. Dark/Invul feeds off Recharge. The 30 sec combat boost, the combat heal, Dull pain, it just closes up like an SR71 hitting mach 2. (The SR71 blackbird needs to superheat its skin to expand the metal. pre mach 2 the thing rattles like a junk truck!) I was recently told my old Dark/Invul builds need more health pool. Here is one of my current ideas. Where should I go with this? two notes, I meant to take the tier 2 attack. brain fart. Also the Hamis are placeholding for the D Sync Heal/Rech in Dull Pain... err third note. Will probably drop Sorcery pool. Picking up Taunt. Maybe switching out CJ for Leadership Manuevers. That would leave me 2 choices....Tactics? Touch of Fear? edit 1 choice. I need fly. NEED. 2. Let me cut through the BS for you. Tanks are tougher. Brutes do more damage
  3. you make a good point and Lord Recluse is quite aware of it. There are cities (Cap au Diable) and neighborhoods (one in Sharkhead!) that are gentrified and orderly. But there is only so much lipstick and there is a LOT of pig...
  4. I always solo’d redside live with no travel powers until mid 30 except vet reward 30sec jump every ten minutes or so and the Ferry system. Oh and the Pocket D vip transport. Never felt it was an issue
  5. there are a couple 35-39 St Mart arcs that send you back and forth St Mart to Nerva back and forth mission after mission. But you have travel powers, etc.
  6. I know you have tired of me. But listen to this if you absolutely have to have tons of info check out the Sentinel forum. They have Blaster attack sets. Gimped to hell and slightly altered. But still. That forum has a thread stickied with every set described in detail. Finally if nothing satisfies then play a Fire Fire Blaster. Nothing matches it. Nothing. You have zero mitigation so you need to kill fast. Really really fast.
  7. The blue side origin contacts in the 25-29 and 30-34. All of them. Like, all. All ten. 4-6 hunts each. Thankfully it is down to 2-4 in the 35-39 bracket. So far
  8. better than go hunt 40 crey. go hunt 40 crey. go hunt 40 freaks. go hunt 40 crey go hunt 40 crey go hunt 40 crey, okay, you want to do a story arc now?
  9. Nooooo. Talking about how much damage a chicken does is off topic. Unless launched by a trebuchet. And are we taking into account any pathogens the chicken might be carrying and the long term damage done to the target area?
  10. It can be way more complicated, because, …CoH lol. Take a Brute. Max damage cap is 700%. Let that sink in for a second. When a Brute solos and gets Fury up and eats a few big reds they can start cruising at 300-400 and possibly 500%. My Rad/Fire Farmer brute eating reds constant cruises 4-500. But 700? 700 is readily achievable for long fights with a good league running buffs and team inspirations. This is one example My main for late game leagues is an Ice/ Cold Corruptor. This throws out -def -res and -regen as well as milking the scourge mechanics with two DoT rains. There are dozens of other examples. Solo, my Corruptor is okay. On a league? Fughedaboutit
  11. CoH is odd. People talk a out enjoying soloing on a controller. Worst dps in game. Or making Tanks into Farmers. in a high end league it is the synergy of many buffs that wins the day.
  12. true for content you outlevel. i posted in the other thread i think a list of a bunch of contacts that offer missions at 50. 35-50, 40-50, 45-50, plus random content available to anybody over level 20 or 30.... this game actually has a lot of content. sigh, i know because i am attempting to do it all on one character lol. sooooooo stupid.
  13. again, i dont understand PvP much but unless the tank superspeeds across the map a Brute can still keep attacking with cheesy inherent ranged attacks and epic ranged attacks, enough to build fury. The Fury change back on live made getting and keeping Fury much less an issue for Brutes, but clipped off the extreme end of it that had them outdamaging Scrappers. But yes, tactics would start to play. However I would like to point out that since the solution seems to be "The Tank needs to run from the Brute" the writing is on the wall....
  14. I never PvP (except on chessboards). And the rules are different for PvP. (I do not know them) but my logic is simple enough: Brutes are 80-90% as tough as Tanks but do a lot more damage. Simple math equation there. Of course things are never that simple
  15. Wow, one on one it will come down to Tanks vs Brutes. I suspect the Dark/Invul Brute would walk away the victor
  16. My Dark/Dark Brute is a standout. Not needing a Tankers extra values to be extremely Tanky, Would benefit from more Aoe (who wouldnt?) /but the damage output when fully revved up is extreme. Likewise my Dark/Invul Brute. Whose real job is to be 1)hit on (I need aoe for this?) 2) Kill the Big Boss (I need Aoe for this?) Again, having Tankers AoE would be great. Just not necessary, likewise health and resist numbers. it does the job better (in my opinion) than a Tank version.
  17. Just need one: Ooh, boy you are tied to that track and that stupid train just kept running over you now, didn’t it? Running over you.
  18. Speaking of volunteerism here is where I moved the ball to. This spreadsheet has one page for Blue and one for Red. Gold will be mixed through both and duplicated. There is no express or implied accuracy. I did my best. There are probably errors. There may be missing contacts. I took this data from my current working project. Although I used the "base" I have been working on another version for two months and cannot remember any changed I have fought through. But my version has a ton of deletions due to Bluesides penchant for duplicating contacts... Anyways, good luck! contacts CoH CoV.xlsx
  19. That list is good. For a starting point. The wiki….suffers from volunteerism I had to compile a list of Blue contacts for my solo every contact in the game ( i have bloodstained copies of redside going back years…). Starting with all Blueside contacts will get you 90% there. But it is missing things like ….Vigilante contacts! And contacts added after that list etc. then….you have to prune the list. Which are Holiday contacts, some of which will never be used again. Which are contacts that if you take one eliminates two with the exact same story arcs( and are now unavailable to that character ). Its an epic project
  20. Willpower ( one of my favorites on live) suffers from not “fitting well” into the CoH paradigm. Def>Res>Heal. Invul fits well into this. Dark sidesteps it with stealth and mezze to make up for low and/or nonexistent defense and no DDR, then great resistance and the best heal in the game. Willpower has weak defense debuff resistance so even if you pump defense (which you should, at least S/L) it can get floored. I do love the concept of a super giant health pool Brute Willpower. But….it will just not see the survival factor of other sets that align with the game better. In my opinion. Looks like great fun however!
  21. You might consider joining a fun SG (shameless plug time) The Cosmic Council on Excelsior is karge, organized and runs both high end content and “learning the lore” runs. Just did a Mender Silos TF with them tonight. 45+ Ouro TF and we did it slow while the leader read all the dialogue and we quipped about how crazy Manticore and the lore is….
  22. 23. There is actual content as well. Beyond using Ouroboros flashback (for badges and fun) to exemplar (lower your level) down to do story arcs. There are many contacts that are 35-50, 40-50, and 45-50. That means you can wait until 50 and still get every mission that contact offers. Which….is a lot. That is if you like to solo. For teams there are task forces and incarnate trials and all sorts of things like TinPex and Market Crash, constant Imperious TFs running (on Excelsior anyways) and then there are the serious challenges. The new Aeon TF. Master badges. The SG i run with (Cosmic Council) has a daily calendar with about 10 events a week, including Saturday night incarnate trials kicking off with Really Hard Way Magisterium badge run. Good Luck!!!
  24. Mwah hah hah. The RNG finally got you!!!
  25. I am currently soloing Blue/Red/Gold every contact on a Dark/Invul Brute. Back on Live I soloed Redside every contact once or twice a year. When I started I was pretty Broke. I joined during Good vs Evil, when Redside dropped. I ran SS/Invul a lot. There was no inherent fitness. It was painful lol. When Willpower dropped I switched to that. My current project (now 39) used 95% SOs until after 30. I did lean heavily on P2W grenades in the lower levels. Dark does not have a great attack chain when levelled. At low levels it is missing a lot of teeth. But I did prop it up with Panacea and Miracle and Kismet Accuracy etc. My suggestion would be Willpower. Its End Bar will be always full. It will be "tanky enough" on the settings for standard play. With the current game I would go with an Energy Melee Willpower Brute on SOs. Set at +0/x1, no AVs the character will be near godmode even with SOs.
