I'm not even sure what your global is, but thanks... I should be fine with what I have, and what I have is so creativity. Although, come to think of it, if you have Creativity as a character name, maybe we could work something out. 😉

I freed up a dozen, and because I'm always having new ideas I went into the character creation screen and checked some more... and while I was there, I had even more ideas, so I checked those as well. That's almost four dozen more available on top of the ones I released. Go. Claim. Play game.

I try to be flexible, and I have given up some names to people. This kind of behavior is a kindness but should not be expected from anyone... I'm open to it because I have plenty of alternatives to play with, but there are some characters that I'm just unwilling to rename and I will get up off my deathbed to log in and maintain them once the name release thing goes active. So if I'm dying at some point and stop playing, my death will be on the hands of people pushing for the name release. Agreed. I have a number of characters that I've stopped playing and given up the names to the name release threads, but I rarely delete characters... I just rename them with a 2 or a dash at the end, because I may have a desire to revisit whatever AT/powerset combo I was working on and come up with a new identity for what I've already leveled up and start from there rather than start over at level 1. Inspirations should definitely come with an expiration date... or at least a "best by" date. I can't tell you how many times I've eaten a stale one that just left me unsatisfied. Gotta... as long as the creativity does not involve surrounding your character name with xX name Xx, because when I see that it hurts my soul. Sure, it's a problem... just like not enough oxygen is a problem. But saying "You have too much oxygen, I want some of what your hoarding" is just as much a problem. It's the kind of thing that will lead to arguments, hurt feelings, and ultimately people coming away from this game with a negative experience. Can I have a look at your complete list of names? You may have something I want. 😄 It's definitely a fine line. I also have a lot to lose in terms of number of characters and some not getting played for quite awhile... and yet I have been in support of the name release as described by the devs since they first brought it up... which is to say, at least my 50s will be protected. I'm willing to take my chances on the rest with the time allotted to us and also recognize that people who are entirely against it have very valid points (military deployment, life issues, etc) that may restrict them from playing for a period of time that will cause their names to become vulnerable to theft. The reasons I support the name release is that it has been discussed from very early on but the devs have been reluctant to start until the system works as intended and because they include that protection for level 50s. If people put their time and effort into a character and reach the end game only to take some time away and come back to find they've lost the name to such a character, I think that would cause something of a revolt. Unfortunately, the only solution that would work for everyone just isn't viable... and that would be to make names non-unique. And even this wouldn't be 100% satisfactory, because if you suddenly have dozens of Captain Awesomes running around, some will be upset that they aren't unique and the first person to take it may or may not be even more disgruntled over their ideas being infringed. So even if they could figure out how to code to do that, there will STILL be a problem and complainers. The best policy is the status quo. There will always be people to complain about any solution. If the level 50 characters weren't exempt and all names could be freed up over time, there would still be people to complain that the time isn't short enough and that people are logging JUST frequently enough in to maintain the names they're "camping." If 700,000 names were suddenly freed up and none of them are the ones that the complainers are looking for, they will call it a failed attempt at a solution. Pretty much. The only thing it will do is weed out names from SOME of the players who have moved on to other games or afterlifes. If someone is sitting on 1000 names on each shard and makes a decided effort to log in each of those characters once a year, then thems the breaks. It's mine and I'm not done with it yet and you can't have it ever. I've leveled it up to 50 on 4 out of the 5 shards, and I'm working on it there, too!! 🤪 NEVAR!!! But I have freed up plenty of others over my time here... and continue to do so. In fact, I'll probably go in and clean out a ten or so more on Torch today if anyone is interested. Keep an eye on the relevant name release thread for details. Thesaurus? Which dinosaur era is that from?

Stability seem bad since the SQL update for anyone else?

I've not yet experienced it on Torch or Excelsior. -
I'm guessing you didn't complete the mission of achieving level 50.

If you wanted new powers what would it be?
Player2 replied to darcstarmerc's topic in General Discussion
Shotgun Pool Melee Attack (the butt stroke attack from the new Arsenal Assault set) Ranged Single Target (slug attack) Ranged Cone (buckshot) needs 2 powers to fill out the pool Pistol Pool Melee Attack (pistol whipping melee animation) Ranged Single Target Ranged Cone (rapid fire attack similar to Dual Pistols Empty Clips but it's just the one gun) needs 2 powers to fill out the pool Melee (axes, maces, and swords) damage type is Lethal, even for maces. Defensive Maneuver (just like Parry from Broadsword but maybe no damage and less +DEF) Melee Attack (single target melee chopping attack) Slash Attack (cone melee) needs 2 powers to fill out the pool There would be some overlap with characters who already have weapon-based primary or secondary powersets, but as power pool attacks these would be generally less effective (longer recharge, lower damage, and/or reduced effects). They should be functional and useful but inferior. -
Would love a few versions of this belt with different "buckle" options like we have with the Retro belt. Clock standard, a plain (but colorable) circle, and maybe nothing there and the fabric just overlaps where the buckle would be. I'd also love to see that clock face added to chest details. We have enough time manipulators in the game now to justify more clock-themed pieces. Maybe a pair of gloves with the big clock dial mounted on them (like a wristwatch), boots with the clocks rising up as kneepads, and the clock face as a helmet detail on the forehead area.

Suggest buff powers based on weapon sets (not serious proposals)
Player2 replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
This looks entirely off topic as it could very much be a serious proposal. I would play an beam rifle support set like this. Although the tier 1 power should be more than a minor heal. A single target heal should be significant while an AOE heal should be minor. -
What comic book character can you NOT create?

If they haven't already been mentioned: Green Lantern (DC), Quasar (Marvel), and anyone else with the ability to make energy constructs. Deadman (DC), Karma (Marvel), and anyone else that can take direct control of others' bodies (not just cause confusion or paralysis). Hector Hammond (DC), MODOK (Marvel), Too Much Coffee Man... because the lack of appropriate head/body options: -
I am confused by these changes. Why are new players being nudged toward Primal Earth instead of Praetoria? It is low-level play by design (with the ability to move out into the Primal Earth zones at level 20), and the EATs (which are not recommended for new players) are restricted from starting here. Is there a reason that the already low-population Praetoria play is being discouraged further? Also, why are people being nudged away from the newer tutorial mission? Is this the first step toward eventually bringing back a restored Galaxy City? Because that would be stellar news. I miss Galaxy City, and seeing Back Alley Brawler relegated to the SW corner of Atlas Park always makes me sad.

Agreed. I have recreated some of my characters from the old days, but I also created a lot more... 1000 slots per shard gives you room to play around. And I've leveled up some of these new character ideas to 50, so they're not going to get released ever and what if one of these new creations is a name someone else played on Live? And I'm just one player. There are a lot of others with many 50s out there, probably having claimed the names of people's characters from Live... not to mention that on Live we had sixteen shards (with the European ones), and here we have five, so if a name like Captain Somebody was popular and used repeatedly on most of those 16 shards, only 5 people are going to get the chance to recreate their version with the same name now. Sometimes you have to move on, or at least look for alternative spellings.

Radioactive Judgement... with the mushroom cloud effect but bigger. Tidal Judgement... a giant wave. Savage Judgement... have it look something like Thugs MM's Gang War but just a mess of all the animal pets and effects running out in the target area like a stampede, then as quickly as they appeared keep running out of sight. -
I know this is not a solution to the existing problem, but it could help... any chance that name length could be extended another 5 characters? I've had some ideas in the past that came up short a letter or two, and I know I'm not the only one.

Started a kinetic/energy stalker named Hex Factor earlier this month... And a Rad/Rad stalker named Envy.

I'm thinking a pair of magic wand sets... one support, one blast. Support set would have no real theme for secondary effects but rather dip into a little of what all the others can do, while the blast set would be a basic energy blast set but have a power like Dual Pistols' Swap Ammo... so your basic attacks do energy damage but with effects that look like Arcane Bolt. The Swap Ammo equivalent power could be something like Spell Mastery and open up three additional toggles that changes your attacks to Burning damage, Psi damage, or Negative damage along with other secondary effects for each power depending on which toggle is active. -
That's very cool. I may be stealing and tweaking it a little. I bet it would look awesome in black and gold.

I would love a Mystic Arts defender. I love that you worked in some of the entity names from the Magic single origin enhancements. -

I joked about a clowns MM powerset in the beta testing patch notes thread, and although mastermind is not an AT I'm especially concerned with personally, I think a little more diversity would be nice as Masterminds have never gotten a new primary powerset while every other AT has gotten plenty. So here's what I'm thinking: Mobsters This would be like Mooks or Family members, basically mercs in suits as they would have machine guns. Maybe vary up their powers a little bit... I don't expect them to be throwing grenades or parachuting in when summoned. The MM would also get gun attacks, but I don't know... this set is more for thematic difference than creating a new powerset. Phantasms Basically illusion pets for masterminds. The tier 1 power can look like Phantom Army (generic or mirror of the player), but they aren't invincible. 2nd tier would be a pair of ghosts (maybe a pirate, maybe a civilian like those in Croatoa... maybe it can be random. Third tier pet can look like a scary monster ghost like the CoT spirits. None of these are actual ghosts, though, just illusions, so the pets should deal damage similar to damage types under Illusion Control rather than negative energy, which is already covered with Necromancy. MM's attacks would be similar. Criminals I'm thinking basically escapees from the Zig in their orange prison uniforms. First tier pets could basic thugs with basic attacks, while second tier could have some minor powers, and the third tier pet could be a random boss type with a few powers of their own. I'm torn on the MM's attacks... I was thinking energy blast attacks, but I'm sure something else could also work. That's just a few ideas... I'm sure we could come up with more that would work. -

I mean, that's the basic description of incarnate powers... except there's more to choose from and as you progress, you get access to other incarnate powers. -
I made a Dual Blades/Regen stalker on Torch this weekend... the name Close Call was free so now it's mine. I have a lot of characters between 5 and 49 --some might even say too many. I never know when I will go back to them, but as evidenced in the Name Release threads in the Torchbearer and Excelsior sub-forums, I do indeed give up on many and let people know when the names are back in circulation. To be fair, I have released names, then thought twice and regretted it so took a few back. But that just means I was mistaken on being ready to let go of them.

War Mace Bonk! - single target melee, used against an enemy it will inflict a Mag 2 Disorient, when used against an ally it also inflicts a Mag 2 Disorient but also removes any other mez as you knock some sense into them. Whoosh! - short range cone, removes Disorient by pushing oxygen in allies' faces. Whap! - single target melee, used against an enemy it will work as Confront (single target Taunt); when used against an ally it grants a short duration Build Up bonus. SMASH!! - single target melee High smashing damage; when used against an enemy it inflicts damage and taunts that enemy; when used against an Ally it inflicts damage and taunts that ally. Taunt - multiple target (limit 10) Taunt that is twice as effective as a Tanker's taunt. Best ally buff is to ensure the enemy isn't attacking them. Flail Wildly - PBAoE enemy -Def, -ToHit, Fear; You spin round and swing your weapon with reckless abandon causing enemies to become afraid and vulnerable. Dull Pain, MF'er!! - single target melee, Ally Only, Smashing Damage (Special) - You repeatedly strike your ally, causing a DoT effect that inflicts Extreme damage per tick for 20 seconds... this SHOULD render your ally unconscious and immune to further damage (although multiple applications can be used to protect more hearty allies). CPR... With A Mace - You strike your fallen ally in the chest with your mace in an effort to jump start their heart. This NEVER works... but it is funny to watch and you gain a small amount of influence each time it is performed (withdrawn from your target's health insurance plan). Terrorize - Ranged AoE Enemy Mag 4 Fear. The enemy has seen how crazy and downright crazed you are, so when you turn your attention to them they wet their pants in fear... literally, as this also applies the Slime aura to the affected targets.
