There is a big difference between ripoff and homage.
A ripoff is a pretty obvious copy of the original.
An homage should remind you of the original but still be its own original thing.
Here's my homage to Supergirl: Good Girl, an Energy/Invulnerability Brute
I don't always agree with Drinker, but I do find his presentation entertaining. Ryan's pitch meeting videos are the best, though. Can't wait to see his take on Barbie.
I feel like... we need a Summer Blockbuster Part 2 event with two new movie genres that could take place within the City of Heroes world.
Someone get to work on that immediately.
I think Mattel actually owns a trademark on the name Barbie. Normally proper names like that don't qualify as legally distinct enough to merit a trademark, but Barbie as short or cutesy form of Barbara wasn't exactly commonplace until Mattel's dolls made it so... thus trademarked.
I saw a review of the Barbie movie by The Critical Drinker on YouTube, and let's just say I will not and cannot support anything about this movie. It took something timeless and pure and twisted it into something ugly. No thanks.
I know there's an issue with the glowing Resistance shoulder pieces, but nothing is "too hard coded for asymmetrical" and none of the gloves options were intended to be asymmetrical as it was a feature added on Homecoming not long ago. And there is nothing special about the Talons pieces that would restrict coding them separately like other pieces, nor is there any reason aesthetically to keep them exclusively two hands or not-at-all... no glowing pieces, no extra polygons added on... nothing. I'd say this was more of an oversight issue than anything else.
I made a warshade, which is something I don't normally do... but I went through all my characters and saw that I didn't have one.
This is Blind Visionary, the warshade that identifies as a peacebringer
What is missing is the Female -> Gloves -> Talons Straps (Asymmetrical option).
As you can see, the Talons options are normally located between Sinister w/ Plate and Tech Knight...
but when you click the Asymmetrical option, the Talons and Tech Knight stuff goes away.
That's why I suggested the bridge. Remaking everything on the map destructible would be a lot... so instead, make it just one or two things (like both sides of the bridge) and make that the focus of the monster since it's water-based and saving a bridge from destruction is a superheroey thing to do that we don't have elsewhere in the game.
4,041,386,329 to be precise.
I went through all 350 alts and recorded their current influence total in my spreadsheet.
I've occasionally misplaced where the large sums are sitting, so I wanted to make sure I had it all listed so I could find it when I need it.
Compromise! Remake the map without the bridge to the island in the middle... then add the bridge as a destructible semi-permanent object. When the giant monster appears, it will move toward and attempt to destroy the bridge. You get GM XP for defeating the monster, but you get a badge for preventing the destruction of the bridge.
