  1. If I were going to create a new AT that used the Assault sets, I would couple them with blaster secondaries as the primary sets and keep the assault stuff in the secondary role... make it a support set capable of dealing damage at range but capable of doing some decent blapping when in close range due to having melee attacks in both primary and secondary sets. As an inherent, give them mez protection and let the damage for the Manipulation primary sets sit high while the attacks in the secondary Assault sets just do damage on par with defenders, basically giving you more options for building attack chains between those non-melee Manipulation powers. Auto mez protection is their only real defense... they'd still be rather squishy.
  2. Whew... I thought this was a revival of a fairly annoying trend from the old days where the devs from the Live server would post something and people would post "First" just because they got a post in before anyone else. No quality to their post, just announcing that they got in before everyone. It was more annoying than those posts where people knew a post was going to get locked because of its content so they would post "in before the lock" or some such nonsense. I'm just glad to see we've matured as a community.
  3. A.I. is learning. Soon it will be coming for you in the home.
  4. How can F-Bomb be bad? Unless you're walking around dropping F-bombs, it's a PG-rated way of saying the word without saying the word... like saying "frickin." We know what it means, but its pretty much acceptable to say on public TV and radio and kids can say it without people losing their ship. This sounds to me like someone going overboard with the code of conduct enforcement.
  5. We could debate it, but it's pretty obvious that the intended difference between science and tech in this game is that tech requires hardware (whether nanobots, cybernetics, or just external gizmos like guns or force field generators or whatever), while science is more like mutation... but artificially induced. Yep, mutation is science, too... but it happens naturally. But wait, if mutation happens naturally, wouldn't that make it a natural origin? We could debate all the origins, really... but it's easier to leave them vague and let them mean whatever to each individual player.
  6. It's just a bottle. You could empty a bottle and fill it back up with whatever you like. I'm not saying I do that... 😁
  7. The coconut cup is obviously for fruit juice drinks, and a giant mug/stein is perfect for root beer drinkers. Alcohol? Why's it gotta be alcohol? On the other hand, who's to say that the coffee emote isn't spiked with whiskey? And do we know for certain that Enriche isn't an alcoholic beverage? That's the problem with fictional products.
  8. Superman is magical science, naturally. He's also had robot "clones." And there was that time he was split into Superman Red and Superman Blue with electric powers... mutation?? Good grief, Superman is all origins.
  9. When the game was first released (or pretty early into it), people complained about being straightjacketed by origins. What natural means to some can be entirely different to others. Is your science actual science or science fiction bordering on magic? And as for magic, there are many who equate the trope of "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" as meaning that magic is advanced technology. So the original developers pulled back a little on trying to make origins mean something. Then they introduced a new bonus attack power (throwing knives, tranquilizer dart, etc) and starting missions that were tied to your origin, and once again I believe there was some complaint (probably from completionists that would have been upset that there were 4 arcs they wouldn't have access to since they could only choose one origin). These days the bonus power is easily traded out for whichever one you want at the P2W Vendors, and I don't know what became of the origin-specific missions. But the TLDR version is that people get fussy when you try to make origins meaningful because some people just don't like to be so blatantly confined by the simple choice from 5 options... especially when you can have vastly different interpretations.
  10. Not the kind of wind I was thinking of. Mine takes advantage of the storm blast and summoning powersets.
  11. Exactly. "Last bullet... gotta make this one count." **fires either a perfect shot for great damage & effect or misses completely**
  12. I get the idea of taking a penalty to use something big, but locking down other ranged attacks in that pool is significant. Leaving the target with only the defense and a melee attack (assuming either or both are taken) doesn't negate the penalty of lost ranged attacks.
  13. I'm still amazed at the names I can find available on Excelsior. Recent additions include: Bikini Expectation Irish Cream Little Trickster Overpowering Personal Escort Stone Time Thunder-Blade Wind Woman
  14. How about Flambeux Grilled Meats? She wants to branch out and started a restaurant franchise.
  15. Come on... no one suggesting B.O.T.L.E.R.? Unbelievable.
  16. While we're at it, blasters deal too much damage. Let's nerf their base damage. Stalkers are a little too stealthy, so let's nerf their stealth bonus. Masterminds have more pet control than controllers... Can't give that control to controllers, so let's nerf MM's ability to control their pets. Anyone have other AT nerf suggestions to add?
  17. Fire-Combat Training should only offer defense or resistance, not both... and I'd lean toward cutting the resist. Knowing how to use a gun better doesn't make you more resistant to the effects of other shooters. That's what a bulletproof vest is for. Final Bullet locking down the Single Shot and Serial Shots powers makes sense. Weakening the effects of Pistol Whip makes no sense. Having bullets in the gun does not make it more effective when using it as a melee weapon, so having none should not make it less effective.
  18. Little Trickster Electric Melee / Shield Defense Stalker Standing a little taller than Back Alley Brawler's knee... and he'd better watch her toes or he'll be in for quite a shock. Citadel is not amused as the Little Trickster perches atop the Freedom Corps hardware and makes fun of him.
  19. They shootin'!! They shootin'!! Wooo, I made it around the corner just in time! ** snipe attack bends and then travels through the wall ** I'm dead. Someone give me a wakie.
