Two suggestions. Hunt around for @Linea 801 builds. There are several non-tank-brute builds. My Night Tank build. Can solo 801.2 4x8.

Your Opinion on Sets and ATs that Over or Underperform

I'll just reference the thread I started in February on the same topic. -
If you lived in City of Heroes/Villains
KaizenSoze replied to FenrisWolf44's topic in General Discussion
Surprised no one mentioned Kallisti Wharf. Nice quite place, no bad guys, probably a bit expensive, but safe. I could just do my work from home programming job like in the real world. -
As this is my 1000-ist post I would like to take a minute to thank everyone for a wonderful community. I stopped playing COX shortly after COV was released, but I always held a special affection for COX and felt sad when I heard it had been killed. So, I was very excited to hear is was back and I wondered if I would enjoy as much the second time around. Actually, I have enjoyed it more than my first play through due in no small part to the helpful community.

Can we get a way to bypass Arc-locked TFs?
KaizenSoze replied to kelika2's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I had a suggestion thread a few weeks ago. The arc that unlocks the TFs should be a WST the week before the TF. Offering double exp to complete those arc makes them a lot more enticing. One nice that about the current situation. Recruiting for those locked TF when they the WST is really quick. I filled most of my Katies in under 3 mins. 🙂 -
Cavern of Transcendence - Friendly Hints
KaizenSoze replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but it more complicated than that. There is a distance calculation which I am a little vague on how it works. Something to do with distance from mob to player. I would try leaving a few teammates in the middle of the map and 2-3 go click stuff. Unless you're soloing it's not a huge difficultly increase. -
Cavern of Transcendence - Friendly Hints
KaizenSoze replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
Nercro-ing my own thread. One of the Weekly Strike Forces this week is Cavern Of Transcendence. Not as easy as it was pre page 3, but a team of 8 finished in under 5 mins. Page three notes: Caverns of Transcendence Trial Almost entirely redone system-side. Objectives now track on the navigation telling you how many obelisks remain. Koago must now be defeated to complete the trial. Mob spawns re-evaluated, many packs had a 20% of spawning, causing the trial map to sometimes generate as an almost entirely empty instance. Revamped spawns to scale with team size. In set interval checks, surviving mobs on the map will have a chance to start chasing players depending on team size and how many obelisks have been completed. In addition to existing rewards, it now also has MissionOwner, which will trigger various Day Job bonuses and a chance of Pool B recipe. The cavern now has a mini map. -
On a slightly more serious note. I have published several short videos on the forums w/o issues. The scrapper forum Trapdoor thread has a ton of videos, so it's within the rules.

/selectbuild 1 /selectbuild 2 /selectbuild 3

I have been forgetting to mention one reason why this combo works. Aggro control, the debuffs and oil slick damage are annoying enough that mobs will concentrate on the player not the pets. The player of course has the best defense and resists. You can see it in the Arachnos video where the Bane spider boss is shooting at the player even though six pets are beating on it.

Complicated topic, which more analytical folks will chime in soon. MIDS is really great for giving you a good idea which powers proc well. Non-purple procs will do 71 damage, if you slot into a power and only see 20 damage, then that generally mean it's firing a lot less than half the time. I might be committing a crime against math, so I'll avoid specific percentages. The lower the damage once slotted then the lower the proc rate. I generally do not put procs into powers that show 30 or less damage. One thing to consider when leveling, slotting proc indirectly cause your powers to use more endurance and recharge. Since, you want longer power recharge to increase proc rates you can gimp yourself by accident. Unless you have a lot of global recharge. Also, every proc takes up a spot that could slot endurance reduction. For example, VEAT Mu pool Static Discharge. It takes a ton of procs, but that means it costs the full 18.98 endurance each attack. I will put procs while leveling for low damage builds. Like Trick Arrow: Ice Arrow, it does no damage, but procs very nicely on my controller.

The live character is 50 with some T3s and a hand full of IOs. You will lose pets left and right, mostly genin, no surprise, until you're closer to fully built out. Oni almost never dies, because they don't melee. Having said that, the little monsters buzz saw through stuff. It's fun watching them swarm mobs with a flurry of attacks. Exploding mobs are a real hazard. I have learned to toggle between the return to master and attack target to trigger ranged attacks for the final blow. I have enough immobilization between Entangling Arrow and Oni to pin mobs till they are dead. You'll want to run a lower difficultly than you would like solo until you're built out. I think Dark Astoria will be the best hunting ground, because you'll get the most benefit from level shifts. Definitely, one of those builds that takes a huge power jump in the end, but can be harder than average to level.

Yes, that the CoT pets looked enticing. The debuff is nasty and the spirit even heals.

Which Lore pet provides the best support for MM pets? AOE heals? Buffs? Debuffs? Bonus if you have experience with Ninja. Lore pet list:

At first I was going to redo this fight video, but I figured why not show it things don't do smoothly. I forgot to put the disruption arrow at the start, which allow the Illusion boss to survive and summon. Mobs got spread out and I got chased around a bit. Overall it was a bit sloppy, but I didn't take serious damage and no pets died. And I intentionally didn't use barrier. The new flash arrow is the keystone of the build. Power boost + flash arrow = -24% toHit. EMP arrow provides all the status protection you need. And you don't really need it for many fights. Caveats, this is a completed built character, T4s the works. It's busy to play. Might be rather wimpy until built out. Now, I present a fight against 4x8 carnies.

Build revisions due to game play. I have too many powers, some are getting lost in the chaos due to long recharge. Out: Reason: Poor damage if you don't proc, long recharge if you do, silly long cast time for that type of power Mace Beam Volley Web Cocoon In: Reason: Tactics, just for the +perception. I don't need it, but it's a nice to have. Fistful of Arrows: This thing is a good proc power. I assumed that it wouldn't be. Due to the shortness of the cone, it's proc's well, 271 damage on average. New build tested on beta server. I took out a mission of 4x8 Carnies and only lost one genin. I'll post a video later. Build:

Here is a video from the beta server of the build in action against 4x8 Arachnos. I didn't use barrier to show the effectiveness of the debuffs. Of course, this is a completely tricked out all IOs and T4 build. Running T4 radial musculature instead of cardiac. Usually, the Fortunata Mistress's Psychic Wail takes out 1-2 genin, but she missed entirely this time.
-
Accuracy is an issue if I don't have acid arrow or Control incarnate running. Since, acid arrow comes pretty early accuracy generally hasn't been an issue.
-
I am not having this issue. I slotted Cardiac at first, but Musculature is working as well. I see more non full end bars with Musculature of course.
-
Darkest Night is very under rated for tanking. You can tie up a lot of mobs with taunt and DN.
-
The struggle is real. If there are a lot of melee or masterminds I don't even bother. Some groups do listen and at the very least some people move away, so the stunner does rez with full health.

Bad Build Decisions You're Willing to Admit To
KaizenSoze replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
Constantly forgetting the rule of five when slotting Luck of the Gamblers everywhere. -
You're right. I would miss the game much more than the forums. There are some lovely people here like yourself. I have seen this kind of snarky behavior degrade forums in the past. Slowly, conversations turn into snark contests where folks are more interested in scoring points than having a conversation. It's very discouraging to newcomers. One of the best things about COX is the welcoming community. The link wiki link that @Uun shared is perfect example of how bad it can get. So, bad that it became a ban-able offense to post it. https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki//jranger
