  1. Power Burst is too good of a power not to take plus it synergizes well with Total Focus. The last three powers in Energy Assault should not be skipped with Power Burst being the best in the class. Power Blast can be dropped after level 30. As far as aoe @oedipus_tex is right you'll want at least a little aoe. I usually will look to pull good aoe damage from the epic pools plus I also proc Total Domination with the purple and gladiator procs which detonate quite nice thanks to the longer recharge of the power for some decent aoe damage.
  2. I play on Excelsior if you'd ever want to see how a Mind dom can play. Like @Cenozoic says doms have good reason to have multiple builds. I have a team oriented build and then 2 other builds with usually a few slotting changes here and there and a few different powers suited to each build. Beyond recharge I also aim for as much defense, hp and resistance that I can since most of it is usually a slot away from the recharge I'm building for.
  3. Yes if an attack in your secondary comes with a side benefit of a stun or immobilize and any other kind of "control", except likely slows, then yes you can slot it there. Typically a blast won't have the ability to slot it but a melee attack can. Your hypothesis is correct. 😜
  4. There's lots of great Epic pools for doms. Yes I love Soul Mastery for my Energy dom since I'm always in melee and there's so much aoe damage available in that set along with Soul Drain capping at +100% damage along with like 35% tohitt for 30s along with doing the pbaoe damage it does. Then there's the end drain that fixes any endurance issues you might have but if you start to put it in your arsenal and slot something like that pvp -res proc it becomes a power that'll do so much more for you. Plus the other powers in that pool are almost as good. Sometimes I go with Primal Mastery if I have a heal since ET does 300 points more damage than any dominator's highest attack. Then there's that aoe blast you can slot that Force Feedback proc into which has 16 chances to fire which it'll always fire. Then there's Cold Mastery for that easy -res. Or Fire Mastery since Fireball will really benefit from Embrace of Fire. There's all kinds of pools to fit your fancy. Experiment to find your fit.
  5. T4's only? What of those big ol' team oranges and reds? No one dies on my team unless I want them to for veng. 😜
  6. That's because you play Fiyah and not a secondary that can power boost all of those defenses you've taken to slot those LotG's. Since you have to pick defense powers why not get the best one and pick up some good resists along the way? To me there's nothing more fun than capping all your defenses, paired with 70% resists and mad control but that may just be me.

    Fun Tank?

I'll have to agree with the Shield tank. Fun defense that also offers another potent attack. It is a bit clicky but its one of the more potent offensive defense sets. I paired mine with Street Justice because it looks like you're savagely beating enemies down. Very cool looking set the both of them. That's staying true to the tank AT. My favorite tank is my Mind dom. She has capped positional defenses, high resists and can instantly control so much more aggro than any tank can.
  8. I layer my doms. The first layer is to use your controls aggressively and stop the targets before they stop you, the best defense is a good offense. The next layer I'll build in is tough/weave and an epic shield which will usually raise my resists quite nice. The last layer I like to have is I try to cap all of my positional defenses achievable through bonuses, all of the defense powers you take to chase recharge and then something like power boosting Unleash Potential. Should my controls fail me I like to have fall back through resists and great defense.
  9. Yes Dark Assault not being top dog compared to say Energy or Fire isn't such a big deal in terms of gameplay when you look at what else Dark Assault offers in the grand scheme of things. It's my second favorite secondary.
  10. Sounds a lot like a second vote for Catwoman.
  11. Coming soontm to Imax?
  12. If we're talking in CoH then I'd have to go with Aeon. Everything about him comes off as a plucky malicious Tony Stark. I can vividly see RDJ as Aeon but in this character he can be even more uninhibited to be a truly formidable baddie than the Iron Man quasi-evil that some in these forums have pontificated him actually being. As far as comic lore I don't know how to narrow it down, DC's villains gallery is quite good especially the ones Batman interacts with. I'd go with a fun loving unscrupulous bad guy but it's real hard to beat how fetching Catwoman is as a nemesis if she's still considered to be on that side. Yeah Catwoman, but I reserve the right to wander if she starts getting fickle.
  13. Dom's have access to probably the best Epic pool powers available amongst all of the AT's. Get a feel for your dom and have a good look at all of those pools, they can round out your toon real nice and are capable of some unique things if you think outside of the box. My Mind/Nrg goes with Soul Mastery, there's just so much win in the pool. The epic pools are like a mini secondary for doms but you can respec them so you get to play around with all those fun toys. Definitely experiment with them.
  14. As for what powers need attention I'm sure they have a good feel for a lot of them based on data on selected and avoided powers. AT's: I'd probably agree Masterminds especially late game but they've always been an unusual AT. Sentinels are a passion project that is a hodge-podge of various AT's, it's going to be real hard to buff them and not tune up other squishies to compensate. Pools: Yeah there's a few pools that could use some tweaking, Presence for sure, Concealment to me still doesn't feel convincing to take when you can take other pool shields that don't suppress their ability.
  15. Of the tweaks to control and Mind specifically this is about the only power that could have significance if they tinkered with it. If I ever did have an extra power to take I'd just take TK to stack control onto AV's during those fights, but then there's always a better power to take, like flurry..... The rest of that control in Mind I feel your rant but those powers are very strong. Rather than adjust everyone else's playstyle to fit smartly engaging things I'll just toss it out there "Hey I'll keep Ghost Widow asleep for us" and if they want to wake her with them pesky fireballs that's on them when she soul crushes them to death. I could tell them we could avoid that risk with allowing me to save her for last for us but I also enjoy vengeance so march on good friends. Hopefully these new Hard Mode's that accentuate how important control can be will teach them fireballing brutes a thing or two about tactics.
  16. I will say I have seen countless Mind/Psi doms and not as many with a non Psi pairing. I'd say buck the trend and look outside of that pairing, while they can be real good they are both on the more boring side when paired together.
  17. There's lots of good controls they all tend to have their own flavor particular to the users tastes. My first taste of Mind control was seeing someone play it and how awesome it was before there were villains to play as so when Dom's became a thing I knew Mind was for me. Mind is very potent but it's all about control. It's a very fluid power set and you don't have to keep any pets on a leash. If you enjoy blasters Mind has more of that feel to it, sprinkle in whatever necessary control that is needed and then fight away. The go to control is Plant, it's real hard to make a bad Plant dom. Then there's Earth, Dark, Mind. Mind being the most controlling of the powers, Dark the more damage focused and Earth a little in between. There's lots of controls you can make your own with experience. As for assaults this is where a good pairing really dictates how well you like the character. Fire assault is the tried and true always been good always will be assault but there's plenty of other good power sets, it's best to get a good pairing on a dom so you don't get some awful one and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth for the AT. Do remember though your assaults are best late so damage wise the AT is a late bloomer with more control feel until say level 30 or so. Level 30 is where I will typically respec any dom I make and start slotting IOs to achieve perma-dom. Hope you like whatever you come up with.
  18. Pfft...heroes... Pain Domination is the villain answer to Empathy everyone knows anything villain is at minimum 10x better than anything heroes started with. Plus it has "domination" in its title, has to be superior on that alone.
  19. I did say DAMAGE-wise it is a mediocre assault. It's ST dps is meh compared to other assaults that you can compare and contrast against if you actually played almost all of the Dominator assaults like some here have. Being that my main was a Mind/Dark dom until they revamped Energy I think I have a little experience with the set. I did not say overall Dark Assault is mediocre. It is a good set because of the heal and -tohitt. The pbaoe is one of the better pbaoe''s on a dom, I actually enjoy using that one. The utility of Dark Assault is what makes it shine, which others are pointing out. Again I consider your opinion null since you feel some right to dictate how someone is allowed to use their control powers that you have no familiarity with. Write your follow-up diatribe, I try no to pay too much mind to someone once I've ascertained their mental acuity.
  20. This has to be one of the most asked for clothing options. I'm all for it. Incidentally I noticed one of the GM's judging this last costume contest had a very peculiar looking belt with loincloth on the front and back. This may actually be something in the works. The more costume options the better. At the very minimum I'd like to see become available these robes, a colorable version of GW's flowing hair and Desdemona's boots.
  21. The Gaussian set is too good not to set out the whole thing if you're already using the proc. I'd put that whole 6 into BU and just use low level one's so it doesn't mess with the recharge for optimal proc'ing. I'd trim off of Tactics down to 2 slots. Remember with the chance for BU instant recharge ATO you need to use that power at least once zoned into a map for it to start kicking in. It's good habit to use Energy Punch from time to time. I'm so used to just using 5 Manticore in snipes I forgot I have my pick of ranged sets for Moonbeam, I'll have to go look at my snipe now.
  22. Yeah I have a Wind/Psychokinetic dom over there. It's old Titan Weapons broken good. I'd love to see more power sets here but that's the more bureaucratic nature of HC compared to the freedom of just hashing something out on the other servers. The potential for more hands to build more content is the draw to HC.
  23. No. You've hijacked the topic yet again by making it all about your pettiness. You can't even be bothered to log in and compare easy to view basic stats of the various powers across the power sets. Then you go far off topic and then when I respond to your absurdness you claim the victim. Again, explain to us why EJ is coming to the conclusion he his with his test of killing a pylon that is taking him forever. Explain to us the wide difference in dpa and why Fire and Energy perform as it does with these numbers. You can't because that would mean you'd have to be objective. Dark Assault Smite: 98 dpa Gloom: 84 dpa Midnight Grasp: 77 dpa Energy Assault Bone Smasher: 76 dpa Total Focus: 89 dpa Power Burst: 141 dpa Fire Assault Incinerate: 74 dpa Fire Blast: 87 dpa Blaze: 152 dpa
  24. To help get this back to topic to illustrate to EJ the differences in an attack chain for the various dom assaults using the 4 best ST attacks they can muster here's a bit of base statistics to consider. Dark Assault Smite: 98 dpa Gloom: 84 dpa Midnight Grasp: 77 dpa Energy Assault Bone Smasher: 76 dpa Total Focus: 89 dpa Power Burst: 141 dpa Fire Assault Incinerate: 74 dpa Fire Blast: 87 dpa Blaze: 152 dpa The assaults all share about the same in the snipes, Fire's carries better raw damage because that's what fire does but the secondary effects in other ones allow for some unique slotting. That's quite a big difference in the top dpa between the best powers in each power set not to mention the sheer raw damage Embrace of Fire allows for. With enhancing it only amplifies how much better Power Burst and Blaze are comparatively. They all pretty much proc the same and have access to each of their own unique damage procs so no need to get into the weeds with procs we can all make use of. The only better ST power a dom can get is Energy Transfer with a whopping 165 dpa. Which sure use this power if you can heal but Life Drain now having to be in your chain carries a dpa of 45 so it balances ET down some having these two attacks chained. If you're going to grind into a ST pylon it's probably best to look at the most effective chains.
